January 5th, 2015 - New kid
A couple of days in and Kendall had finally got settled in. Michael had shown him around so he now had a feel about the area, he learned 1.) it was extremely dangerous, 2.) everybody was reckless, 3.) he missed home.
Nonetheless this is what he had to do and it was only for a couple of months. He hoped that when he went back to Vegas things would be cleared up and he could reunite with his friends before he went off for college.
Now Kendall was buzzed by the alarm clock going off through the room.
"Let's go KJ. Time to get back to school." Michael said while softly kicking him in the back.
"Damn... Stop that ****." He gets up off the air mattress yawns and gathers an outfit from the dresser and goes to take a shower before changing.
"We got to go a little early, the principal emailed me and told me I have to get my stuff before school." He said out to Michael. He thought about how bad it was going to suck not to have his car anymore.
"Alright well let's go if you're ready."
They arrived at the school, it was old as dirt and looked more like a haunted mansion but that's how everything was around here. Kendall walked inside and looked around at the long hallways and found the main office to the right.
"I'm looking for Mr. Dean?" He said towards the middle aged lady working the front desk.
"He's back there towards the left."
"Thanks." He walked down the short strip and found Mr. Dean sitting in a swivel chair anticipating his arrival.
"Woah," his eyes widen as he sees Kendall walk in. "You're huge, you've gotta play basketball?"
"Yeah, I was one of the best players in the state back in Nevada."
"Wow, we could've used you, our team hasn't won a single game yet, 0-11 right now. But to get to the point... Welcome to Sumner, Kendall. I've got your schedule and everything prepared for you. You've got most of your credits required and if you pass all your classes you'll be on track to graduate this summer." He hands him the sheet of paper with his classes.
Kendall was still shocked of the record he mentioned, "0-11? Why can't I play?"
"It's the middle of the season kid, you can't just hop on the team it's against state rules."
"I'm not just your ordinary kid though. I was giving dudes 25 a game back at home, I'm still trying to get scholarships. You gotta get me on this team."
"Well, I'll see what I can do. I highly doubt it'll be possible though, alls I know is that you'll be able to practice with the team. Talk to Coach Moore if you can, room 42."
"Alright."
A few minutes later the school bell rang and Kendall was led to his first period class by Michael who happened to have the same Calculus class. He caught a lot of eyes in the hallways but then again being a 6'8 new kid it was hard to miss him.
About halfway through the day Kendall had already known what seemed to be at least half the school and 'Michael's cousin' was the hot topic. He didn't even have to try to find Coach Moore like Mr. Dean said because Moore came chasing after him during passing periods.
"Yeah so we're going to try and make something happen and get you on this team," he said after a couple of minutes into the conversation. "If you got some sneakers with you, you can practice with us today, we need all the help we can get."
"Yeah that sound cool, if you guys are as bad as what I've been hearing then I'll play in these." He points down at his Timberland Boots with a selfless grin.
"You've got jokes boy, so will I see you or not?"
"Yeah I'll just get some shoes from my cousin."
The time came and Kendall laced up in Michael's shoes he'd lended him and met the basketball team in the locker room before practice.
"So you're Kendall, I never heard people talk more about a n**** in my life." A light skin kid who was about 6'4 at the locker across from him said.
"What can I say? I got it all." Kendall remarked.
"Yeah whatever. I'm Trey, I'm a junior. I guess you're my competition today."
“Aye, nice to meet you Trey. I’ll warn you though that it's gonna take a lot more than one man to stop me. You better tell your team to get some quadruple teams ready."
“Alright I see you real cocky, we’ll see about all that.”
Kendall got out on the court and quickly noticed that students were in the bleachers waiting to watch him play. He laughed it off and and to say the least Kendall he lived up to his talks in the locker room and dominated every kid on that roster.
“Yeah we’ve gotta get you on this team as soon as possible.” Coach Moore said towards the end.
