I really like this class alot. I wish I would've had more scholarships because I had 3 more guy's at 100%. I was hoping to land one of them as a walkon but it didn't happen. 1 guy signed with Texas Tech in the last week and the other 2 went unsigned but didn't show up on my roster.

      NORTH CAROLINA LANDS #1 CLASS.

Coach Williams will have almost a entire new team next season as he lands 8 players (2-5*,3-4*,3-3*) in this years recruiting class highlighted by 2 5* AA Mr BB's and a 4* C who is projected to start next season.

The Tide finished the year #2 after losing to Texas and now finish #2 in the recruiting wars as they sign 4 players (2-5* AA Mr BB, 1-4* and 1-3*) Like UNC both 5* AA are projected to start.

BYU makes some noise as they land the #3 class. The Cougars land 4 players including a pair of Mr BB's including 5* AA SG Earl Battles.

Michigan State is #4 with a pair of 5* AA Mr BB's, well Duke is #5.

Washington makes the Top-10 with the best class among the Pac-10 landing at #9. The Huskies add 4 players including 5* AA Mr BB SG Sidney Harris and 4* SF Angelo Harris. Both players are projected to start.

Other noteables. UNLV is #12, UCLA is #15, Washington State is #17, Gonzaga is #22, USC is #23, Arizona is #28, Hofstra was #32, San Francisco was #35, Wyoming was #38, Oregon was #51, Boise State was #62

        OREGON STATE 2013-2014 PREVEW

        THE ROSTER

4 new faces join the Beavers roster this season including 2 new starters.

5* All-American 6'0 Ridley Spears (80 Ovr/75 3pt) is back for his Sophomore season after averaging 8.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 4.9 APG, and 1.1 SPG, well also hitting 46/124 3PT (37%). Spears will look to improve on his Pac-10 FOY and NCAA Freshman All-American awards, with a POY and 1st or 2nd team All-American type year this year.

Joining him in the backcourt is 4* JC Transfer 6'5 Eugene Taft (76 Ovr/78 3pt). Taft will look to lock down the SG spot for the next 3 seasons as these 2 gel together.

6'6 JR Clinton Gillingham (78 Ovr/68 3pt) will return as the starter at SF after averaging 8.9 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.1 SPG last season starting all 33 games. Gillingham's 3pt shooting was also a surprise as he finished 31/79 (39%).

Moving to PF, will be 6'8 SR Fabien Sowers (73 Ovr). Sowers started at center last season despite being undersized he put together a solid season last year finishing as the team's leading scorer (13.8 PPG) well also grabbing 6.1 RPG. He was also a beast on the defense end with 1.4 SPG and 1.6 BPG.

Taking over at Center is 3* recruit Wallace Ray (76 Ovr). The 7'0 bigman is a force on both sides of the ball (90 blk) and is a great rebound (80 OF/80 DEF)

The Beavers bench get's a upgrade this year as 4* recruit 6'10 Robbie Conroy (77 Ovr/65 3pt) moves into the 6th man role. Conroy was recruited as a SF but will play PF and Center.

6'8 JR SF Donnell Garner (71 Ovr/73 3pt) will lose minutes not being the 6th man but is still a valuable reserve who can play both SG/SF and in a pinch even help out in the post. Garner finished last season averaging 6.2 PPG and 3.2 RPG well shooting 28%

With former walkon Amit Whittington leaving the team, the backcourt duties will fall on 6'3 SR Teddy Hampton (71 Ovr/73 3pt) who averaged 3.2 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.8 APG, well hitting 16/38 3pt (42%) as well as a new "Walkon" 6'1 FR Kyle Loughton (66 Ovr/75 3pt). Loughton was a 3* recruit out of New Zealand.

6'8 SO Sidney Chavez (70 Ovr) walked on to the team last season and put up solid #'s playing in all 33 games including 6 starts well Sandoval was out of the lineup, averaging 8.0 PPG and 3.5 RPG. With Conroy in the mix, Chavez's role will be reduced this season but still expect him to get 10-15 mins a game.

6'9 SO Elmer Atkins (67 Ovr) will redshirt this season after playing in all 33 games as a freshman last season. Atkins finished averaging 5.5 PPG and 3.2 RPG.

        THE SCHEDULE

Oregon State will open up at home for it's first 2 games of the year vs Pacific (11/9) and Portland State (11/14) before heading to the Orange County Shootout on 11/21.

The Beavers then will venture into the state of Texas for a matchup with TCU (11/29) before a quick trip home to play Idaho (12/1)

OSU will then head back on the road for a matchup with Wyoming (12/3) before returning home for 2 more games vs New Mexico (12/16) and San Diego (12/28) to close out non-conference play.

OSU will open up Pac-10 play on 1/2 @ Oregon and finish the Pac-10 schedule on 3/8 vs Oregon for Senior Night.

        Coach Deuce
"I really like the additions we added to the roster this year. I think both Taft and Ray will have big years and Sowers should be even better at PF. However the guy I am really looking forward to seeing take a big step up is Spears. I feel like he has the ability to be a 15-20 PPG type player we just need to run the offense through him better. I also really like our schedule. We got off to a hot start last year and I was hoping we could do it again and with this schedule I think it's possible. We are actually favored in all our matchups in non-conference play"

          #1 Texas
          #2 Louisville
          #3 Duke
          #4 UConn
          #5 USC

          #7 Oklahoma State
          #8 Iowa State
          #9 Vanderbilt

          #12 NC State
          #13 Georgetown
          #14 Kansas
          #15 Clemson
          #16 Providence
          #17 Tennessee
          #18 Michigan State
          #19 Kentucky

          #22 North Carolina
          #23 Notre Dame
          #24 Maryland
          #25 UCLA

The Defending Champs are back to defend their title as the #1 team in the country, but with 5 Big 12 teams in the Top-25, it could make for a very tough road to travel.

The Big East,ACC and SEC all look to be tough as well as each teams also has 5 teams in well the Pac-10 (3) and Big Ten (2) round out the rest.

Very surprised to see no teams from the Majors/Mid-Majors once again. Will be interesting to see who makes a move and joins by the end of the year.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)

            TROJANS PICKED TO 3-PEAT

#5 USC (94) is projected to win their 3rd Pac-10 title in a row as they enter the year as one of the best 5 teams in the country. They are led by the "Best Shooter/Pro Prospect" in the Pac-10, JR PG Berry Zeigler (86), have the "Best Defender" in JR SF H. Logie (86) and have the "Best Freshman" in SG D. Turek (85, #3 Overall/#1 SG, 5* AA Mr BB CA).

#11 Cal (90) and #25 UCLA (90) are projected as the #2A and #2B to start the year, as both are rated in the Top-25. The Golden Bears are led by a starting lineup of 4 Seniors and have 7 total on their roster along with 5 Juniors. The Bruins however will rely on the "Best Player" in the Pac-10 JR SG D. Wiedmann (90)

Stanford (90) is a darkhorse. The Cardinals are coming off a 17-14 record, but like Cal have 4 Seniors in the starting lineup. Could they work their way back to a Top-25 Poll and a spot among the Pac-10 best?

Washington (88). The Huskies have finished 2nd to USC in 2 of the past 3 seasons. However with 2 new Freshman SG S. Harris (77) and SF A. Moss (75) in the starting lineup plus SO Center J. Williams (84) they will have to rely heavily on returning Pac-10 Player of the Year SO PG C. Sammuels (85)

Arizona State (88). The Sun Devils are coming off a horrible year (14-19) but most feel like they have to much talent to allow it to happen again. Can ASU get back to winning 20 games and playing in the NCAA. Their coach better hope so.

Oregon (86) and Arizona (86) are use to being picked to win the Pac-10, now they are just hoping to not finish in the bottom half. The Ducks have 3 SO's in the starting linup led by PF E. Rickert (84) well the Wilcats are by their backcourt JR PG B. Gardner (82) and SR SG D. Sanders (82)

OSU (84) and WSU (84). Despite finishing #4 last year after being picked to finish last, Oregon State once again is in the underdog role. With 6 scholarships to offer this season, Coach Deuce should be able to continue his rebuild and one day of OSU winning Pac-10 titles.

For WSU they Cougars lost their leading scoring in SF A. Johnsen and add 2 Freshman to the starting lineup despite a roster with 5 Seniors on it (only 1 starts). It could be a long year in Pullman.

              BEAVERS START OUT 2-0!!

The Oregon State Beavers kicked off the 2013-2014 season with 2 wins at Gil Coliseum. In the season open vs Pacific, OSU cruised to a (44-32) 1st half lead and continued their domination of the Tigers as they win by double digits. Final Score OSU-78 Pacific-55

JC transfer SG E. Taft made his presence known early hitting back to back 3's as he finished 4/8 from downtown to lead all scorers with 18 points.

              C. Gillingham (11 pts 5 reb 5 ast), F. Sowers (12 pts 8 reb) and S. Chavez (11 pts) also chipped in double digits.

7'0 FR W. Ray finished with 9 pts 5 reb and 3 blks well Soph PG R. Spears had 7 pts well dishing out a team high 9 assists.

In Game 2 vs Portland State, the Beaver Offense would explode in the 1st half as OSU goes into the locker room up (57-29). In the 2nd half OSU would slow the ball down and fall short of hitting the century mark. Final Score OSU-91 Portland State-53

4 players scored in double digits for the Beavers led by Gillingham's 16 pts (2/4 3pt) but it was F. Sowers taking home POG honors with his first double double of the year (15 pts 15 reb 3 stls).

Freshman W. Ray matched Sowers (15 pts), well SO PG R. Spears had 12 pts 5 reb and a team high 6 assists well going 2/3 from 3pt.

Next up OSU travels to the the Orange County Shootout.

The (2-0) Oregon State Beavers will head to the Honda Center to participate in the Orange County Shootout. A 8 team tournament, OSU will open up against (1-2)Pepperdine (82 OVR).

Round 2 will feature the winner/loser of (0-2) New Oreleans (82 OVR) vs (1-0) Buffalo (77 OVR)

On the other side of the bracket is (0-1)Illinois State (74) vs (0-1)UNC Greensboro (64) and the headliner #5 (3-0) Vanderbilt (91 OVR) vs (2-2) Pacific (75 OVR)

                Coach Deuce
"I like our chances to make it the championship game, but to beat #5 Vanderbilt could be very tough. They are currently averaging a NCAA best 102 PPG."

The non-conference slate looks pretty manageable. You should do well. Vanderbilt will be interesting though. We'll see if you can slow them down.

You are very correct. Part of me sorta regrets on not making the non-conference schedule harder, but this way I hopefully will go into Pac-10 play with a chance at 20 wins if I can duplicate last seasons results.

If the first 2 games are any indication, I believe Ray and Taft are going to really play big roles this year. It really want to make Spears more of a scorer but for some reason I just can't seem to get him alot of open looks and I end up taking bad shots

Yeah sometimes you gotta strategize to try and maintain that 20 win margin though you wanna make things tougher even a few tough games can go a long way.

I had that same issue with Bosley in my dynasty you just gotta find and call the right plays to get him more open looks. I got 2 plays I use mainly for Bosley 1 for a open three and 1 to get in the paint for an easy layup.

Note: Hope to see you go undefeated in non-conference play

BEAVERS COME UP SHORT IN TITLE GAME!!

Oregon State opened the Orange County Shootout with a (96-64) win over Pepperdine to advance to the Semi-Finals to face Buffalo, where they defeated the Buff's (85-75), setting up a matchup with #5 (5-0) Vanderbilt for the championship.

In Game 1, OSU had 3 players score in double digits led by SR F. Sowers (23 pts 7 reb 6 stls 3 blks), FR W. Ray (13 pts 4 reb 3 blks) and SO PG R. Spears (16 pts 6 assists 3/4 3pt).

In Game 2, Sowers would play just 12 minutes as he picks up early fouls in each half finishing with just 9 points, but the rest of the Beaver starters all hit double digits led by SO SG E. Taft (15 pts 2/3 3pt), Ray (13 pts 8 reb 2 blks), SF C. Gillingham (12 pts 8 reb 5 ast 2/4 3pt) and Spears (10 pts 6 reb 7 ast 1/4 3pt).

OSU also got a solid night out of S. Chavez who scored 12 pts in 18 minutes off the bench.

In the Championship game, OSU would almost match pace with the high scoring Commadores trailing (42-40) but Vanderbilt showed why they are the highest scoring team in the nation in the 2nd half as they pour in 58 points hit the century mark in the double digit win. Final Score Vanderbilt-100 Oregon State-81

As a team Vanderbilt hit 15/32 from downtown and 21-28 from the stripe. 6'10 JR SF J. Malone led the way with 19 pts hitting 4/6 from 3pt well 6'8 JR PF O. Farrell adds a double double with 14 pts 15 reb.

4 players scored in double digits in the loss for OSU led by Sowers (18 pts 5 reb), Taft (15 pts 2/3 3pt), Gillingham (14 pts 1/5 3pt) and R. Conroy (13 pts 6 reb 3/3 3pt)

                        Coach Deuce
"We made a strong run but knew going in it would take our best effort on both sides of the ball to beat Vandy. They have a great team and I expect them to be a Top-10 team all year the way they are playing. I was excited to see Conroy finally have a good game. He has been struggling to get his shot but did a nice job for us tonight."

BEAVERS WIN 4 IN A ROW!!

When the A.D. and Coach Deuce set up this year's non-conference schedule it was their hope that the team would find success and go into Pac-10 play with some confidence.

Well so far the plan is working to perfection as the Beavers improve to 8-1 on the season with a pair of road wins and home victories.

Coming off their loss to Vanderbilt, OSU traveled to take on the Horn Frogs of TCU coming away with a (96-72) win.. C. Gillingham led the way with 23 pts (3/4 3pt) well E. Taft added (18 pts), Ray had (14 pts) and Conroy led the bench unit with (11 pts 7 reb 4 ast).

OSU then returned home defeating Idaho (83-59) . SR F. Sowers finished as POG with 18 pts, well Freshman W. Ray (11 pts 7 reb 5 blks!) and R. Conroy (14 pts 7 reb 4 stls) each had solid games. S. Chavez also had a nice game off the bench with 10 pts and 4 reb.

Back on the road, OSU cruised to a victory over Wyoming (77-61) holding the Cowboys to just 22 1st half points. FR W. Ray was named POG as he finished with 13 pts 7 reb and 4 blks. SR F. Sowers added 12 pts 8 reb and 3 blks as well.

After a week off, OSU returned home to face the Lobo's of New Mexico coming away with a huge defensive effort in which they held UNM to just 37 points. That's right 37, not in just the 1st half but the entire game.

The Lobos scored 20 points in the 1st half but managed just 17 in the 1st half making this the worst performance by a opponent against Coach Deuce since his day's of playing ball in 6th grade.

                          Final Score OSU-67 UNM-37

The Freshman led the way once again as Ray and Conroy each score 12 pts. Ray also added 6 reb and 4 blks to finish with POG honors yet again.

OSU will close out their non-conference schedule vs (7-6) San Diego on 12/28 after a 10 day break.

                            TOREROS SNAP STREAK!

If you were one of the many who turned the OSU vs San Diego game off with 2 minutes left in the 2nd half, then chances are you don't know who won. OSU led at the half (38-36) and came out strong in the 2nd half building up a 12 point lead with that said 2 minutes left, but that's when the the Toreros went crazy, hitting 4 of their 6 3's in the game and all of a sudden the game was tied (68-68) with less then a minute to play.

Coach Deuce would call a timeout to help calm down his team and on the next possession, the Beavers would take the lead with a bucket by Sowers, but San Diego would get a chance to force O.T. with 8 seconds left 5'9 FR PG Clinton Spears (no relation to Ridley) would take the ball and drive the lane and dish to the 6'8 JR W. Spong who would not only hit the game tying bucket but also pick up the foul for the and 1 opportunity. With 2.1 seconds on the clock Spong hits the F.T. that gives the Toreros the win.

FINAL SCORE SAN DIEGO-71 OREGON STATE-70

                            W. Spong was named POG as he leads all scorers with 20 pts (7-8 F.T.) well also grabbing 11 rebs. SR SF L. Bailey added 17 pts as well.

OSU had 3 players in double digits led by Ray's 13 pts 7 reb 4 blks. Gillingham also had 13 pts well Sowers had 12 pts 8 reb and 3 blks.

                              Pac-10 Current Standings

                              #4 USC (12-1)
“The Trojans are proving they are not just the best of the conference but one of the best in the nation. USC’s only loss was to #5 Kansas State (11-0), and they have victories over Texas Tech, Alabama, South Florida, Xavier and San Diego State”

                              #12 Cal (8-1)
The Bears havn’t played very many games, but the ones they have played they have made sure they won, the only blip to their record is a (70-66) loss at home to High Point. They own victories over George Washington, #24 Texas A&M, and Butler at home as well as a road win over Ohio State.

                              #17 Stanford (11-1)
“The Cardinals went into the season as a darkhorse but they are not in the dark anymore. Like USC, Stanford’s only loss of the year comes at the hands of a Top-25 team from Kansas as they lost to the #19 Jayhawks (85-67). The bulk of the Cardinals wins have come in-state with victories over San Diego, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Diego State and UC Irvine.

                              #21 UCLA (11-1)
“Another 1 loss team who like their rivals have only been beaten by a Top-25 team. UCLA’s lone loss comes at the hands of #7 Maryland (10-0) on the road (83-69).

                              Oregon (9-2)
“The Ducks opened the year with a loss vs Memphis at home and then lost to Boise State on the road (77-69) , but turned things around winning 7 straight including a win @ #19 Kansas (80-70) as well as home wins over San Diego State and Colorado.

                              Arizona (9-3)
The Wildcats record is a bit deceiving as they havn’t really played anyone but #2 Texas (loss 95-69) and Alabama (loss 83-81). Their 3rd loss was to Portland State (65-54) at home.

                              Washington State (8-2)
“The Cougars opened the year winning 7 straight with wins over Utah State, Saint Mary’s, Nevada, Colorado State, San Diego, and Wyoming. If they had just stayed out of the state of New Mexico they could’ve been undefeated as both loss’s came to New Mexico State (83-71) and New Mexico (58-55) on the road.

                              Oregon State (8-2)
The Beavers are a 1 point loss and a matchup against #1 Vanderbilt away from a perfect record. With Vandy now #1 in the country, OSU’s non-conference RPI is actually looking pretty solid.

                              Arizona State (8-3)
The Sun Devils started out 0-3 with loss’s at home vs Sacramento State and Utah State as well as a road loss to La Tech, but have come on strong winning 8 straight including roads wins over Oklahoma and Saint Mary’s as well as a home win over UNLV.
