That San Diego game is the first time I can think of that you lost a game you should have won. I know how it feels when they can't miss threes, that happened to me twice against Jacksonville. Looking forward to a competitive Pac-10 schedule.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
MID-SEASON TOP-25 MEDIA POLL
#1 Vanderbilt (13-0)
#2 Texas (12-1)
#3 UConn (10-1)
#4 USC (12-1)
#5 Kansas State (11-0)
#6 Duke (9-1)
#7 Maryland (10-0)
#8 Clemson (12-1)
#9 Seton Hall (12-0)
#10 Iowa State (9-1)
#11 West Virginia (11-0)
#12 Cal (8-1)
#13 Georgetown (10-1)
#14 Villanova (12-0)
#15 Providence (10-2)
#16 Wisconsin (8-1)
#17 Stanford (11-1)
#18 Oklahoma State (9-3)
#19 Kansas (9-2)
#20 Michigan State (9-2)
#21 UCLA (11-1)
#22 Fordham (11-1)
#23 Florida State (10-1)
#24 Texas A&M (12-1)
#25 Louisville (9-4)
Vandy is #1 for a reason. The Commodores are still averaging a NCAA best (97.8 PPG). They are #5 in 3pt shooting at 41%. (Noteworthy that UCLA is #1 at 44% and USC is #4 at 42%)
I thought that the Pac-10 looked tough but the with 7 teams in the Big East making the polls, it looks like it's still the toughest conference in college basketball. Syracuse is actually joins the rankings in the coaches poll with a (11-1) record and Cinncinnati is also (11-1). Only DePaul (4-7) doesn't have a winning record.
Congrats to Fordham for being the only non-power school to make the Top-25. The Rams lost their opener against UC Davis but have won 11 straight including wins over DePaul, NC State and N. Illinois (all on the road) and currently boast the #39 RPI in the nation.
MID-MAJORS POLL
#1 UALR (9-2)
#2 W. Michigan (9-2)
#3 Davidson (7-1)
#4 Akron (8-2)
#5 Northern Colorado (10-4)
#6 Hawaii (11-3)
#7 Utah State (7-5)
#8 Eastern Michigan (8-4)
#9 Bradley (8-3)
#10 Portland (7-5)
#11 UL Lafayette (7-2)
#12 Niagara (8-4)
#13 Townson (8-3)
#14 Marist (7-4)
#15 Nevada (11-3)
#16 Butler (6-2)
#17 Saint Mary's (9-6)
#18 Ohio (8-4)
#19 Army (8-4)
#20 Missouri State (8-4)
#21 Wofford (8-3)
#22 Boston U (6-6)
#23 Sienna (5-6)
#24 Valparaiso (7-3)
#25 LMU (7-5)
It look's like UALR is building quite the basketball powerhouse in Little Rock. as this makes the 3rd straight year the Trojans have been in the Top-25 polls. Their 2 loss's came against #25 Louisville (77-75) and a road loss to Tennessee (91-73)
Northern Colorado continues to have success even without Coach Deuce. The Bears lost to Viriginia Tech on the road to open the season (83-72) but then picked up wins over Gonzaga, Wyoming, TCU, Air Force, BYU, New Mexico, Utah and Portland State. They also lost to Hawaii on the road and to #24 Texas A&M at home (66-56).
One team noteworthy team is missing from the poll and that is Gonzaga. The Bulldogs went just 5-9 in non-conference play and it is rumored that they could be looking for a new Head Coach at the end of the season. 1 name rumored to be in the mix is current N. Colorado Bears HC Kirk Wright who currently owns a (35-9) at UNCComment

RECRUITING UPDATE
Going into the season, Coach Deuce had 6 scholarships to offer and came away from the in-season recruiting period with 1 commitment as well as 4 more scholarships offered.
Signing his letter of intent to play at OSU next season is 6'8 PF Emanuel Laws (4* Rated #41 Overall/#6 PF). Laws was named Idaho's Mr BB after averaging 13.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.0 SPG and .8 BPG this past summer playing for the Idaho Sockeyes ABL team in Pocatello.
OSU just missed out on signing another Mr BB. 6'7 Center Cary Simon of Anchorage Alaska (4* Rated #42 overall/#3 C) had OSU #1 on his list and was 98% committed before announcing he would instead sign to play for Washington next season.
One big story left to keep a eye on the rest of the season is that of 6'1 5* AA Antwi Gerlach. Gerlach is Oregon's Mr BB and is rated the #11 Overall player in the country and the #5 PG. The Salem native currently has the Beavers #1 on this list at 95% but has also secured a scholarship offer from Washington State. Gerlach averaged 12.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG 7.4 APG and 1.3 SPG this past season playing for the Dog House in the ABL summer league. He also shot 34% from 3pt (12/35).
Coach Deuce"Landing Gerlach is obviously our #1 priority. I believe teaming him him the backcourt with Spears will allow both players to feed off each other and push each other to be the best players they can be"
Coach Deuce"We love Goral's size. I believe he would be a perfect player to come in and fill a role off our bench playing both SG/SF. His size helps create mismatches on both sides of the court. Goral currently has OSU #1 on his list at 100% and the Beavers are his only scholarship offer, with WSU and Utah State both keeping a eye on him"
6'7 Christopher Dieng (4* SF) and 6'5 Luke Diwara (4* SG)
Coach Deuce"With only 2 players leaving the current 10 man rotation, plus current redshirt PF E. Atkins rejoining the team next year, we felt like it would be in our best interests to find a couple of players who we feel like we could redshirt next season giving them time to adjust to the college game. I feel like both players are totally what we are looking for."
OSU will have 1 remaining scholarship to offer this off-season. No word yet on whether Coach Deuce plans to use the scholarship or hold on to it next season with such a deep team returning.

DUCK'S BOMB BEAVERS IN O.T.!!
For the 2nd straight game, Oregon State has run into a team that just can't miss from beyond the arc.
OSU would lead the entire 1st half sometimes as much as 8 points but a 3pt at the buzzer by Oregon's Chris O'Neill would make it (43-39) as the teams go into the locker room. In the 2nd half the Ducks would start with a 12-0 run that gives them the lead, but the Beaver would battle back. Despite being down by 4 with 30 seconds left in the game, OSU never gave up as F. Sowers hits a basket with 12 seconds to play, then on the inbounds play E. Taft steals the pass and is fouled in a bonus situation that puts him at the line for a 1 and 1. Taft would sink the first and then the 2nd tying the game (85-85). Both teams still had a chance to win this in regulation, as Oregon inbounds the ball but again it's Sowers coming up huge as he steals the ball at half court with 6 seconds left. Coach Deuce would call the timeout.
The play is drawn up as C. Gillingham inbounds the ball to Taft on the wing. Taft hesitates as he is open for the trey, but instead dishes to Sowers on the baseline, who puts up a 12 foot jumper that rims in and out to force O.T. In Overtime Oregon already light outs from downtown (8-12) goes nuts hitting 3/3 from beyond the arc to build a 10 point lead and seal the win.
FINAL SCORE OREGON-106 OREGON STATE-98
Oregon's SR SG C. O'Neill is named POG as he finished with a game high/career high 27 pts hitting 4/5 from 3pt. Fellow SR SG J. Caton also is plays a huge role hitting 4/4 from 3pt finishing with 20 pts.
In the loss, OSU had 7 players score in double digits including all 5 starters led by Freshman W. Ray's 25 pts 5 reb 2 blks.
E. Taft had 15 pts but was just 3/10 from 3pt. R. Spears added 13 pts 4 reb a team high 5 assists and had 3 steals but was also just 1/5 from 3pt.
Walkon FR PG/SG K. Loughton was one of the bright spots as he finished with a season/career high 10 pts going 3/6 from 3pt.

OREGON STATE BEING INVESTIGATED FOR ILLEGAL RECRUTING!!
When Coach Ryne "The Deuce" Dezaron signed 5* AA PG Ridley Spears in the off-season in just his first week on the job at Oregon State, many eyebrows were raised in the recruiting world. Why would the Mr BB from Hawaii and a Top-20 player in the country want to play at a OSU coming off a 8 win season.
Now with rumors of Coach Deuce close to signing his 2nd 5* All-American, reports are the NCAA has set up a sting operation in which a potential recruit visited the campus to see just how far OSU would go to convince him to be a Beaver.
Reports are it was not Coach Deuce himself promising extra perks, but that they actually came from assistant coach Brad Ramsdell, whose main responsibilities (A- Charisma B- Scout) were in the recruiting department.
Coach Deuce"I am not going to set here and make excuses, Coach Ramsdell has been apart of my staff for 3 seasons now and I honestly felt like all his hard work was on the up and up, at this point the decision of the NCAA is out of my hands"Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
For those of you who are following this thread, the reason for the above post, is my Xbox360 is currently not reading discs everytime I load up. So far I have been able to open and close the disc tray enough times to finally get it to read the disc, but I don't know how long this will keep working. I talked to my local repair shop and was quoted $80.00 to have the disc reader replaced. At this point I figured it was cheaper to just order a copy for my PS3, but that means restarting my legacy. My PS3 copy should be here around April 8th-9th.
If I can get my 360 to start working again, I will continue this legacy as wellLast edited by Deuce2223; 04-03-2015, 01:05 AM.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
I was leaning toward the PS4 but the problem is I only have 1 friend with a PS4, but I have like 10 that have Xbox One's. When it comes to games like the COD series and Destiny it's more fun to play with friendsComment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
Thanks. It will be interesting to see how the game differs from PS3 and 360, I am guessing not really at all. Nice thing is there is a group of guy's who did a 2014-2015 roster project, so am hoping I can download it on to a flash drive and start out with new rosters on the PS3.Comment
