UC Davis comes into conference season hot

Davis,CA-UC Davis is coming into conference play on a roll. They are 8-4, however the may have lost the rest of the season already. Team leader Byron Ward is out for the rest of the season. It is also the end of Wards career, as he is a senior and its not how he wanted it to end. Geoffrey McGrain is also out for a 3 weeks, and Loughton is also dinged up. This is gonna be a bumpy ride to the finish, but UC Davis can pull it off if they get help from the big guys down low.

Coach Turner suffers Heart Attack, Due to miss rest of season

Breaking news has been announced our of Davis today. Head coach of the recently hot UC Davis Aggies is that Coach Ray Turner suffered a heart attack in his home Sunday night. This is bad news for the Aggies, as they have already watched their best player in Byron Ward go down. Ray Turner said that assistant coaches will be taking over the rest of the way until coach can get healthy for next year. We will give you an end of the year report after all the games have been finished.

Year 2 Recap

Davis,CA-UC Davis jumped out to a hot start on the year. They even knocked off #2 at the time, Memphis Tigers. Everything went downhill from there. Byron Ward suffered a career ending injury, and Coach Turner suffered a heart attack. The team finished 12-17, failing to make the Big West tournament. It was sad to see Wards career end the way it did, but he wished the team the best, and said he would hope to coach is someday.It wasn't all bad however, as Sophomore Kenney Terry was selected to all-conference 2nd team. Turner has said that he will be back coaching the Aggies next year, and that the recruiting class looks promising. He also said that it would be announced soon. Stay tuned for the recruiting class, and all things UC Davis.

I have spent many legacies playing with UC Davis, including one where I recruited 5 board member created recruits reliving the Fab 5 years. Oh the memories. Looking forward to seeing what Coach Turner can do with the Aggies.

Aggies 1-2 as they travel to Polar Bear Tip-Off

UC Davis-The UC Davis Aggies kicked off another season last week. They started off with 3 games in a row, vs UAB, Southern Illinois, and Tennessee Tech. They lost the first 2 games, but they battled back for the 1st win of the year against Tennessee Tech. Coach says that he is "proud of the team, and knows that things will get better. They think they have a shot at making the championship, and maybe even winning it in the Polar Bear tip-off Classic. The bracket was released earlier today, and the Aggies will square off with Idaho State. Look for the game recap after the game is over.

Looks like you drew the good side of the bracket. San Diego State or Oregon would be a tough matchup in the Finals, but if you can pull another Memphis type win you had last season, you will have yourself a non-conference tourney title and attribute point.

UC Davis powers through Idaho State

Richmond,KY-In the first round of the Polar Bear Classic, the UC Davis vs Idaho State was probably the least popular. Only filling up the stadium to 57%, only about half of them were Aggies fans. That didn't stop UC Davis from going out and competing though. The Aggies jumped out of the game, and had to 12-0 runs during the first half. They were led by returning small forward Kenny Terrey. Terrey had 14 points, and also grabbed 5 boards. Terrey said after the game "I just want to get other guys involved. If they're committed to winning, then we are going to win some games. Our main goal right now is to make the final." Another player who had a great game was freshman Jack Guerrero. Jack had 10 points, and had 9 boards almost having his first career double-double. The Aggies will face the Central Michigan Chippewa in the 2nd round.

Aggies overcome Chipewas defense

Richmond,KY-The Aggies are going to the championship! They new it was going to be a tough fight, as Central Michigan boast one of the best defenses in the nation, but their offense prevailed. At half time the Aggies were only up 5, and the Turner was not happy. Having 5 turnovers in the first half he was very mad at his team. The team team came out and had 0, yes 0 turnovers and the 2nd half. The Aggies were led by team leader Kenney Terry. When Terry was asked about the role on this team after the game, Terry said, "I'm not the leader. I couldn't do it without every single guy on this team. It doesn't matter if its the starters getting baskets when I am not, or if it is the bench guys kicking our butts in practice. It's a team game, and that is how were going to win this game tomorrow." The Aggies go up against number 24 Oregon. This is the 2nd year in a row that they will face a ranked opponent in a tourney.

Aggies beat Oregon, Win tournament!

Richmond,KY-The Aggies have done it. They shocked the world! In the championship game of the Polar Bear Tip-off Classic, the Aggies tried to swim with the Ducks of Oregon. The first half was a very close game, with the edge to the Aggies by one point. During this week coach Turner has been saying "Why not us?' Well the Aggies didn't have an answer, because it was them! In the 2nd half Oregon came out flat and UC Davis took full advantage. The score spread in the 2nd half was huge. Davis scored 41 in the 2nd half to Oregon's 25. That was the game right there. UC Davis Star Kenney Terry made a name for himself in this one. He scored 25, and also grabbed 7 boards. Terry has defiantly been the MVP of the team in the beginning of this young season. Some were wondering how the Aggies would fill the hole of Byron Ward, well we have your answer and the answer is Kenney Terry. The Aggies only play 2 times in the next 3 weeks, as the focus is over to in-season signing week. If the Aggies sign anyone, you know where to look. Congrats Aggies!
