Basketball is my favorite sport. Growing up in New York City, it's hard to not have basketball make an impact on you in one way or the other. With that being said, basketball has always been the toughest sport for me to play video game wise. I tend to always notice the little things way more than other sports and the things that don't play out like their real life counterparts irk me. NBA 2K17 is not without its flaws, but between my desire to not buy sports titles every season when I never make it out the first month of the franchise/dynasty mode and my increased skills with HTML and ghetto Photoshop (Paint.NET), I want to give this a try. I want to improve my writing skills, and will be dual posting this on different sites. The other site was the one (well the child of it) that introduced me to recording my sports dynasties online - something I had been doing with a pencil and notebook for years prior - so I hope I can make this an enjoyable experience that lasts for quite some time.

With that all being said, enjoy.

                  September 23, 2016

Minneapolis, MN -- According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski and others, Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett has announced that he will retire for the NBA after 21 seasons.

Garnett still had one year remaining on his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and most believed that he would stay for the upcoming 2016-17 season before hanging it up. Instead, he will reach a buyout with the organization, who hopes that he will remaining with the team in a player development capacity.

Garnett is considered one of the greatest and most influential players of his generation, making the transition from Farragut Career Academy to NBA in 1995. It began an era where elite high school talent decided to forego their college career paths and head straight to the professional ranks. While every player to do so wasn't as amazing as Garnett - which eventually led to the NBA implementing age restrictions - it did allow many NBA greats to reach the pros quickly. From LeBron James and Kobe Bryant to Kwame Brown and Eddy Curry, Garnett's success removed the perceived risk of drafting high school prospects straight to the pros.

"I'm just thankful. I can't even put that into words,'' Garnett says. "I'm just thankful. I'm just thankful for everybody and the love. I never would have thought that people love me like this. But, for it to be reality is just something else, man. Man.''

With the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets; Garnett made 15 All-Star Games, 12 All-Defense Teams and 12 All-NBA Teams. It wasn't until 2008 that he earned a championship ring as a member of the Celtics.

Garnett averaged 17.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game, which putting up 20 & 10 every season from 98-99 to 06-07. He earned MVP honors in the 2003-04 season, leading Minnesota to a 58-24 record before falling in the Western Conference Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.

                        September 24, 2016

Milwaukee, WI -- The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Michael Beasley from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Tyler Ennis on September 22nd.

With guard Khris Middleton out for the regular season with a torn hamstring, the Bucks needed depth of the wing. Beasley signed with the Rockets last season after he finished his season in China. In 20 games for Houston, he averaged 18.2 minutes, 12.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and shot .522 from the field.

As for the 18th overall draft pick in 2014, Ennis will be joining his third team in three seasons after stints with Phoenix and Milwaukee. Ennis was buried on the Bucks depth chart this season behind Michael Carter-Williams, Matthew Delladova, and Jason Terry. Ennis has played in 79 games in his career, averaging 13.5 minutes, 4.1 points, and 2.1 assists.

Ennis will join Patrick Beverly and Pablo Prigioni as the Rockets point guards this season.

                          Mahinmi out 4-6 weeks

                          October 15, 2016

Washington, D.C. -- The Washington Wizards have announced that center Ian Mahinmi suffered a partially torn meniscus in his left knee and will miss the next 4-6 weeks.

The injury occurred in practice following last Thursday's pre-season game versus Philadelphia. Mahinmi had a MRI performed later that day and underwent successful surgery Saturday evening.

Mahinmi is entering his ninth season after previous stints with San Antonio, Dallas, and Indiana. He has career averages of 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16.8 minutes a night.

                            Milwaukee Trades MCW to Chicago

                            October 16, 2016

Milwaukee, WI -- The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to trade guard Michael Carter-Williams to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forward Tony Snell.

The Bucks are continuing to add perimeter shooting following the season long injury to guard Khris Middleton. They traded for Michael Beasley roughly a month ago, and originally tried to acquire Ben McLemore from the Sacramento Kings before agreeing to a deal with Chicago.

Carter-Williams' departure leaves Milwaukee somewhat thin at point guard, with only Matthew Delladova and Jason Terry on their roster. It is assumed that Giannis Antetokounmpo will see playing time as Milwaukee's primary ball handler to compensate for the loss of Carter-Williams.

Carter-Williams was the 2014 Rookie of the Year after being selected 11th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 Draft. Chicago will be his third team in three seasons.

Tony Snell was selected by the Bulls nine picks after Carter-Williams was drafted, but has never been able to make any significant headway. With the Bulls having players like Jimmy Butler, Dwayne Wade, Denzel Valentine, and Doug McDermott, Snell was expendable as his role was bound to be decreased this season.

                              2016-17 KNICKS PREVIEW

                              2015-16 Season: 32-50 (.390), 13th in East, 3rd in Atlantic
                              Postseason: None
Notable Losses: Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis, G Aaron Afflalo, G Jose Calderon, G Langston Galloway, G Jerian Grant, F Derrick Williams, C Robin Lopez, G Tony Wroten
Key Acquisitions: Jeff Hornaceck, G Derrick Rose, C Joakim Noah, G Courtney Lee, G Brandon Jennings

Manhattan, NY -- Out of all the news that came courtesy of the New York Knicks during the off-season, the most notable would have to be Derrick Rose's proclamation of the Knicks as a super-team.

Maybe if it was five seasons ago.

The Knicks acquired two former Bulls in Rose and Joakim Noah to team up with Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis in hopes to finally end a post-season drought that was extended to three seasons after a 32-50 finish.

It feels more like an eternity than the three years it has been since the Knicks were bested in six games by Indiana in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jeff Hornaceck will be the third coach to pace the New York sidelines since that season, and Anthony is the only player still on the Knicks roster from the Game 6 loss.

"We've made a lot of moves, yeah." said Anthony. "It's New York, the fans want to see success year in and year out and we're trying to find the right pieces to get that done. We have some great guys on the team this year and I think we'll be in playoff contention come April. I may have said that I would be ok if my NBA career ended without a championship, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to give my all trying to earn one while I still can."

Derrick Rose is hoping to turn back the clock on his career to help the Knicks reach the post-season. The 2010-11 NBA MVP has played just 127 games in the last four seasons, succumbing to a torn ACL, two torn meniscuses, and a fractured orbital bone. Rose did play in 66 games last season, so Knicks fans will have to hope the trend moves upward in terms of his health.

While players like Anthony, Rose, and Noah represent the present for the Knicks, it's clear that Porzingis is the future. The 7-foot-3 Latvian impressed many in his rookie season, and says over the summer that he has strengthened his core and improved his ball handling. With a 14.3 point, 7.3 rebound, 1.9 block rookie campaign, Knicks fan will hope they hang out to this prospect unlike those in previous years.

Not to be left out the limelight, the Knicks added journeyman Courtney Lee to replace the departed Aaron Afflalo at the two-guard spot. Lee joins his 7th team in New York and brings consistent spot up three point shooting to a team that has quite a few players that like the ball in their hands too often to spread around.

The Knicks also added Brandon Jennings to back-up Rose and lead a second unit including guys like Kyle O'Quinn and Lance Thomas. Jennings' numbers took a dramatic drop last season between Detroit and Orlando, but the Knicks hope to get the same guard who has career numbers of 15.5 points and 5.9 assists rather than the 6.9 point-3.5 assist performance from 2015-16.

The storyline for the Knicks will once again be whether or not General Manager Phil Jackson will nudge his triangle offense into new coach Hornaceck's scheme. Defense is going to have to continue to be a major component for New York (10th in points allowed last season) while the offense will have to find an identity and improve fast. It's clear the organization has accelerated their "rebuilding" process in hopes of calming the pitch forks outside Madison Square Garden. The cast has all proven that are strong individuals, but only time will tell if they can come together as a team.
