Thanks for following. Losing Rose definitely hurts as the Knicks are thin at guard and even thinner at skillful players. I'm not sure if I want to sign someone to replace Rose for the time being - I wish the game had 10-day contracts for this purpose.

      GLASS HALF EMPTY
Houston builds lead too insurmountable for Knicks

      November 2, 2016
New York, NY -- The Houston Rockets opened the game with a 20-5 run and never looked back as they cruised to a 101-93 victory at Madison Square Garden.

New York looked out of sorts defensively in the first half before finding a rhythm in the second. The Rockets shot just under 35% in the third and fourth quarters, allowing the Knicks to erase a 30-point deficit to single digits.

"We can be optimistic about the way we played in the second half." said Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek. "But that doesn't excuse the lack of effort in the first half. It's our first back-to-back games of the season, we can't come out flat next time around."

Struggling the mightiest for the Knicks was Carmelo Anthony. After a stellar start to the season, Anthony made just 6 of 23 shots to score 15 points. He did add eight rebounds and eight assists in the losing effort.

Kristaps Porzingis led all scorers with 28 points, and had seven rebounds and four blocks to go with. Heading into the game, Porzingis led the NBA in blocks with 4.3 per game.

Houston had a group effort to thank for their win, as no player scored more than 20 points. Ryan Anderson led the way with 16 points, and James Harden had a very pedestrian outing, scoring just 11 points and taking only seven shots.

New York will travel to Chicago for the next game, which was to be a homecoming for former Bull Derrick Rose. Unfortunately, Rose was injured against Memphis and will not play.

      AROUND THE NBA:
      - Blake Griffin records a triple double with 17 assists to help the Clippers defeat Oklahoma City
      - Kyle Singler will be sidelined for 1-2 weeks with a knee injury
      - James Ennis scored a career high 38 points to lead Memphis over New Orleans in OT

        (2016-17 Season) Game 5 - at Chicago

        Robin' 'Em Blind
Lopez proves to be unlikely thorn in Knicks side

        November 4, 2016

        Chicago, IL --
Robin Lopez assured the Chicago Bulls that they would not miss the departure of Joakim Noah to the New York Knicks. Lopez dominated the former Bull to the tune of 29 points and 14 rebounds, helping Chicago defeat New York 105-99.

Noah had as many points as his former Bull and current Knick teammate Derrick Rose -- who is currently sidelined with a high ankle sprained injury. New York as a team struggled to keep Chicago's big men away from the basket, giving up 70 points in the paint.

"You can't expect to win without being able to perform well with the interior defense." said Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek. "We can't expect our offense to carry us to a win, especially when we don't get back on defense."

Carmelo Anthony almost brought the Knicks back into the game by himself, scoring 15 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter. Anthony's aggression allowed the Knicks to cut a double digit lead to just four points, but Jimmy Butler made sure New York got no closer.

Butler had 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists for Chicago, who never trailed in their third win of the season.

New York has lost two straight, and to add insult to injury - literally - Brandon Jennings left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. Jennings had to be helped off the court, and while the Knicks have not said how serious the injury is, signs are not looking positive.

The Knicks hope to end their losing streak back at Madison Square Garden against Utah in two days. The Jazz are struggling mightily while Gordon Hayward is sidelined with a broken finger. Utah has the second worst point differential in the NBA at -17.3, with only winless Sacramento ranked lower.

          Breaking News: Jennings Injured

BREAKING NEWS: JENNINGS OUT 1-2 WEEKS
Jennings injury comes late in loss to Bulls, Knicks must find PG with Rose also out

          November 5, 2016

          New York, NY --
The New York Knicks announced that guard Brandon Jennings will be sidelined for the next 1-2 weeks with a strained left achilles. The injury hurt the Knicks tremendously, as Derrick Rose is already on the bench for at least another month with a high right ankle sprain.

Jennings started for the Knicks in the last three games following the injury to Rose, and in the loss to Chicago had a season-best 15 points and seven assists. The 9-year pro from Oak Hill Academy is averaging 9.8 points and 4.6 assists so far this season.

New York will have their hands full dealing with a lack of depth at point guard, as the next two weeks include matchups against Isaiah Thomas, John Wall, and Kyle Lowry.

New York has spoken with several free agents to replace their injured point guards, with names including Mario Chalmers, Pablo Prigioni, and Shane Larkin. Both Prigioni and Larkin have previously played for the Knicks.

            Knicks Sign Pablo Prigioni

            KNICKS SIGN PRIGIONI
With injuries to Rose and Jennings, Knicks add Prigioni to roster

            November 5, 2016

            New York, NY --
The New York Knicks have agreed to sign guard Pablo Prigioni to a 10-day contract, league sources confirmed.

With injuries to Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings, New York was left without a point guard on their roster just five games into the season. Jennings' injury is expected to last 1-2 weeks, while Rose will be sidelined for nearly a month.

Prigioni played with New York for two and a half seasons, as the 39-year old Argentinian was traded to Houston in 2015. As a Knick, he averaged 3.9 points, 3.0 assists and shot 41.4% from deep - the last stat being one New York hopes he'll be able to replicate in his second stint with the team.

Prigioni was traded to Houston for Alexey Shved, and second round draft picks in 2017 and 2019.

He last played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 assists in 13.9 minutes per game in 59 games.

Prigioni normally wears number 9, but with that number currently worn by Kyle O'Quinn, he has elected to wear number 90. He will most likely start Sunday at home against Utah.

                PORZINGIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After Anthony, Porzingis makes back-to-back Knicks selected for Player of the Week

                November 5, 2016

New York, NY -- The NBA announced that Kristaps Porzingis of the New York Knicks and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans have been named Player of the Week for the week of October 30th through November 5th.

With Carmelo Anthony receiving the award last week, this will make back-to-back selections coming for the New York Knicks, who despite the success of their two stars are off to a 1-4 start to the season.

"I'm honored to receive the recognition, but I'd rather have the wins [laughs]." said Porzingis. "We're trying to get better as a team, that's all I'm really focused on right now."

Porzingis has averaged 24.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 steals, and 4.3 blocks this week, sufficiently stuffing the stat sheet and doing his part to try to help the Knicks win. Add in the fact he's shooting 51% from the floor and 36% from beyond the arc this week and there is a definite improvement in the Latvian between his rookie season and now.

Porzingis currently leads the NBA in blocks per game with four a night, while his fellow Player of the Week in Davis is second on that list with three blocks per game.

Davis currently leads the NBA in scoring with 32.3 points per game, but like Porzingis and the Knicks has yet to see his efforts translate into the wins that matter most. New Orleans has lost five straight since their season opening win over Denver.

36 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks wasn't enough to avoid a 112-98 loss to Milwaukee, and a 40 point, seven rebound and three block night against Phoenix couldn't keep a 122-115 loss from happening. New Orleans is allowing a NBA worst 117.8 points per game.

The Pelicans and Knicks won't meet until a December 30th match-up in New Orleans, then play again less than two weeks later on January 9th in New York.

Losing them both sucks, especially because it leaves Anthony, Porzingis, and to a smaller degree Lee as my only dependable scorers. Pablo is more of a stopgap so that I don't get destroyed with mismatches at point guard (Isaiah Thomas and Kyle Lowry are two games I'm not looking forward to now). Ron Baker will backup Prigioni because at this point I don't have much of a choice.

The Knicks are definitely a struggle lol.

All caught up here, tough to see so many injuries to your floor generals. Pablo is definitely a stop-gap at this point in his career and the Knicks are sinking fast early in the season.

I guess the real question is this: if the Knicks continue to sink, do you try to move Melo/other vets on the team? Interested to see where you go with that. The IRL Knicks certainly haven't handled the situation as I would have, lol.
                    Any comments are welcome.

If things go south, I will entertain moving Melo. I personally don't want to, as I think what's happening in real life is ridiculous and the front office is being extremely disrespectful to him, but I understand that he should still have an opportunity to win and the Knicks don't have anything close to a roster that can do that.

Aside from Melo, there's really no one to move. Noah and Rose's contracts are garbage, though Rose being on a one year deal helps. The only solid players left are Courtney Lee and Kyle O'Quinn (Lance Thomas has not played well early so I doubt I could move him). I might have to search through the free agents for someone who can be a spark off the bench.

                        2016-17 Season, Game 6 - vs Utah

                        CUE THE MUSIC
Utah dominants the interior sending New York to third straight loss

                        November 6, 2016

New York, NY -- Joe Johnson led the Utah Jazz with 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists as they toppled the New York Knicks 99-87 earning just their second win of the season.

Utah has been without star Gordon Hayward since the beginning of the season, as he is sidelined with a broken finger. Guard Alec Burks has been injured as well, coming off knee surgery in the off-season. The two combined for 33 points a game last season and the lack of scoring has been evident for Utah so far as they score just 93.6 points a game - third worst in the league.

With their scoring woes, Utah turned up the defensive intensity forcing New York to turn the ball over 15 times and and grabbed 19 offensive rebounds as they never trailed in the entire game.

"They can out with a fire that we just didn't match." said Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek. "They limited us to one shot a possession and their guys were grabbing offensive boards all day. You can't win playing the way we did defensively, we need to fix that quick."

With guards Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings still injured, the Knicks were short handed when it came to scoring options. Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 25 points and nine assists, and Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points and 12 rebounds, but only one other Knick scored in double figures.

New York made several attempts to climb back into the game, cutting a once 15 point lead down to just six as the third quarter came to an end. But with the bench unit starting the fourth quarter, Utah swelled the lead back up 13 and New York never threatened again.

                          Weekly News - 10/30/16 - 11/05/16

THE WEEK THAT WAS: VOL. 1

                          November 6, 2016

There's only been two weeks in the NBA season but the headlines have come fast and plenty. There's only one undefeated team left, and it's not Golden State or Cleveland. Speaking of Golden State, the Durant-Westbrook love-hate story premiered its first chapter Thursday night with surprising results. With so much to dive into, let's take a look back on the week that was.

                          THREE HOTS

                          1. Charlotte Hornets -- They may have needed overtime on Thursday to take down a bad team like Brooklyn, but the Hornets are the lone undefeated team two weeks into the season at 5-0. The Hornets have utilized a group effort in their strong start, with four players averaging at least 15 points a game - and Kemba Walker is on the bottom of that totem pole. Nicolas Batum is leading the way with 19.0 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 6.0 APG, Marvin Williams is adding 17.6 PPG and 8.4 RPG, Frank Kaminsky has returned for an off-season injury to put up 17.0 PPG and 8.5 RPG in two games, and Walker is averaging 15.4 PPG, 6.6 APG, and 2.2 SPG. The well rounded squad is getting contributions from the #1 guy all the way down the end of the bench, and could surprise many as the season continues.

                          2. Blake Griffin -- With all the hype surrounding players like LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, it's easy to not have Griffin be the first name come to mind when thinking of the NBA's elite. Griffin must have realized this because he has started the season on a mission. He recorded two triple doubles this week - a 18 point, 12 rebound, 16 assist performance against Phoenix and then a 14 point, 10 rebound, 17 assist game against Oklahoma City. He's averaging 18.8 PPG, 9.7 RPG, and 9.5 APG, joining Westbrook and James as the only players flirting with averaging a triple double so far this season. Griffin has never averaged more than 5.3 APG in a season yet is currently sixth in the NBA in dimes. He's averaging more assists than Chris Paul. Maybe we're getting too excited after only two weeks, but that's still amazing to see.

                          3. Russell Westbrook -- Round 1 of the Thunder-Warriors this season did not disappoint, in fact it stunned many and Oklahoma City dropped Golden State 114-93. Westbrook had 33 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds while former teammate Kevin Durant had just 15 points and Steph Curry had 19 but shot just 3-of-11 from three. Westbrook is averaging 29.7 points, 10 rebounds and 9,8 assists through the Thunder's first six games. Those numbers rank him second, 24th, and third in the NBA. Oh and don't forget his got 2.8 SPG, good for a tie for sixth. The Thunder are definitely Westbrook's team now, and he's got the early lead for MVP in my opinion.

                          THREE NOTS

                          1. Sacramento Kings -- The only reason the Kings are here instead of the Heat is because Miami defeated Sacramento 110-83 on Tuesday. Why was Miami in the running? They scored six points in the entire first quarter in a 110-70 loss to San Antonio. Yeah it's the Spurs, but six points and 32% shooting from the floor is bad. But we're not here to rag on them, it's the Kings who the shame stick shall slap. Sacramento shot 31% (take that Miami) against Orlando in a 110-66 loss, their sixth straight loss to start the season. Granted, they've won two straight since AND held Milwaukee to the shooting woes in a 94-75 victory (how I'm still not sure, the Kings outscored the Bucks 12-8 in the second quarter. I would have burned my ticket). Maybe it's not all bad, Darren Collison is still serving his suspension and will come back soon, while DeMarcus Cousins has fouled out of three games at least he hasn't earned any technical fouls, and Ty Lawson is leading the team in points and assists a season after many assume his career was hurtling down the back nine at breakneck speed. There's hope yet Sacramento, but that start to the season wasn't pretty.

                          2. Nerlens Noel -- It looks like Noel isn't sold on Trusting the Process. The third year man out of Kentucky has been the least productive of the 76ers bigs with Dario Saric, Joel Embiid, and Jahlil Okafor all averaging roughly the same playing time. Noel is averaging just 6.3 PPG and 7.8 RPG and shooting a miserable 31% from the floor. To top is all, Noel has already been quoted as saying he wouldn't mind testing the free agency waters this off-season. It's clear the logjam of big man is frustrating him and he feels like it's stunting his growth.

                          3. Marc Gasol -- Gasol makes the list not for his performance but moreso bad timing. With Chandler Parsons set to return in the next game for Memphis, Gasol fractured his right hand will be sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks. Gasol has played at least 80 games every other season of his career but he'll end that trend this season as he'll probably miss possibly 20 games in that time frame. Gasol was playing well too, averaging 21.1 PPG, 8.9 RPG, and 6.3 APG for the Grizzlies. His absence will definitely put them in a tough position considering how tough the Southwest Division is when everyone is healthy.

                          INJURY REPORT

                          - Ish Smith (DET) will miss 1-2 weeks with a sprained left toe
                          - Justin Anderson (DAL) will sit for 1-2 weeks with sprained right knee
                          - Kyle Singler (OKC) is out 1-2 weeks with a hyper extended left elbow
                          - Robin Lopez (CHI) is out for 1-2 weeks with a twisted left knee

This should have been an update before the game against Utah,
but the game doesn't give me headlines for the day until a game is played on the next day after. Now that I'm aware of it, I'll make the next one update in order.

Look at the Timberpups! Seems like Thibs is having good luck with them early in the season. We'll see if his intensity ends up wearing them down by the end of it all.

Sad about Gasol, though -- dude is a standup guy and really talented, very underrated when spoken of. Playing with Memphis after being (basically) a throw-in for his brother, he's surpassed all expectations; would like to see him get a ring but I think he's a franchise guy, much like Kobe/Dirk/Duncan -- I can't see him playing for anyone else. Dude's a Grizzly forever.
                              Any comments are welcome.

Thanks I appreciate it! All the moves being made leading up to the draft got me wanting to play some more so I will definitely continue. Wish I hadn't stopped honestly.

Yeah, Minnesota's off to a hot start and 2K seems to love them. KAT, Wiggins and LaVine are a solid core, they just need another piece or two to develop and they'll crack the playoffs in the West sooner than later.

As for Gasol, kinda wish he was injured before playing us lol. Does suck to see him go down, Memphis won't be the same without him. I can't see him going anywhere either, though Memphis can't seem to find the right pieces to add for him.
