Finally finished catching up on another big chunk of writing. Some incredible stuff here as always. It honestly blows my mind how long you’ve kept this going and yet you seem to get more involved with it with every passing season.

From the podcast recap to the overseas players. Just scintillating stuff.

Much appreciated! I'm glad you enjoy it, because I have fun. Sometimes I think "man, I've done 7 seasons in ~5.5 IRL years, maybe I'm too slow" but life gets in the way and I guess I haven't burnt myself out, so it's fun. I'm hoping to get through 2-3 seasons in 2025. I hope it can happen.

I'm trying to find more interesting ways to introduce podcasts, especially to help people catch up as 200 pages of a thread is a lot to read.

        The Inside Scoop: December Edition

The Inside Scoop is based on TheDominator273's awesome spreadsheet to add random events to your MyLeague.

Nate McMillan is out in DC
The Wizards haven’t been bad this season, sitting at 12-10 and featuring a dynamic pair of scoring wings in R.J. Barrett (SG, 87 ovr) and Tommy Swain (SG, 82 ovr). However, things exploded behind the scenes the other day, with 4th year coach Nate McMillan reportedly taking a swing at starting PG Isaiah Whitehead (PG, 82 ovr) and being forcefully escoted out of the locker room. Wizards brass immediately fired McMillan and it looks like they will replace him with former Chicago coach Oliver Gordon, who coached the Bulls from 2021-2025.

Rudolph Butler might become Houston’s next offensive threat
The 3rd year wing from Michigan State has become a starter for Houston and has averaged 10 ppg last and early on so far, but the team think he’s turning a corner. He’s shown signs in practices and games so far this season that he’s on the cusp of doing a lot more and the Rockets are interested in trying to run things through him instead of Julius Randle.

        DeAndre Ayton is getting fragile
Anyone who is Ayton’s size inherently puts more miles on their body, and he’s not exactly been the picture of health, but rumors out of San Francisco are that he’s regularly picking up knocks and they’re worried about the miles on his body and that he might break down sooner rather than later.

          Brother Recap: December 2025

The Drago Derby represented the final game I’d play in 2025, so here’s an overview of the last 2 weeks of games for the brothers and how they’re doing in conference.

          Loyola Marymount
Oggy had 4 non-conference games in this stretch, all of which were on the road.

          Loyola Marymount 78 @ Jacksonville 93 (Dec 17, 2025)
Facing a familiar foe from his time in the Atlantic Sun, Oggy’s team allowed Gerard Avery (SF, 75 ovr) to have the game of his life with 31 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals as the Dolphins easily dispatched the Lions. Lucious Estrada led the way with 20 points.

          Loyola Marymount 74 @St. John’s 68 (Dec 21, 2025)
Continuing their up-and-down season, the Lions beat Big East foe St. John’s in a close game. Only 1 Red Storm starter had more than 7 points as they struggled to score: St John’s starters were 2-12 from three. Lucious Estrada got his season scoring average even closer to 19 as he dropped 21 points for the visitors. Both teams fouled a lot, but nobody fouled out. St. John’s shot 40 free throws and Loyola shot 25.

          Loyola Marymount 84 @ Portland State 68 (Dec 27, 2025)
A 4 point halftime lead turned into an easy win in Portland as the Lions won by forcing 19 turnovers and making the Vikings shoot only 30% from the field. Allen Wentt was the best player for Loyola as he had 16 points and 13 rebounds, but Christensen added 17 and Kahrimanovic 13 and 6 assists.

          Loyola Marymount 94 @ New Jersey IT 54 (Dec 30, 2025)
The Lions got back over .500 with an easy win over the Highlanders, but lost Immanuel Kahrimanovic for 2.5 weeks due to a lower leg injury. Reid Christensen led the way with 17 rebounds and 15 points.

The Lions now get an 11-day break between games before conference play kicks off at Gonzaga. Due to some rough scheduling, the Lions play 8 straight road games, with their last home game being vs Robert Morris on December 13 and the next one being against San Francisco on January 25. They are 8-7 going into conference play and it’s not unreasonable for Oggy to expect to be about .500 in conference play and maybe finish with a 15-14 record and get LMU above .500 for the first time in years.

          St. Francis
The Red Flash played 3 games, also all non-conference affairs on the road, but with a nice break in between for the boys to see their families for Christmas. The Red Flash also have 5 games in a row on the road, but it’s not as bad as Oggy’s fate as it’s only over the course of 3 weeks for the Red Flash.

          St. Francis 64 @ St. Louis 58 (Dec 21, 2025)
The biggest note from this game was that the injury bug continued for the Red Flash. Both Bobby Valdez and Tanoris Houston were returning within the week, but Tron Torbert broke his hand and will miss a month. Getting to the game, it wasn’t a pretty one, but it was a win. The Red Flash only shot 2-12 from three and allowed St. Louis’ 2-guard to grab 13 rebounds, but Chris Thompson had 15 points, E.F. McGuire had 12 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds, and they managed to get several St. Louis starters in foul trouble.

          St. Francis 67 @ Stetson 72 (Dec 22, 2025)
The short-handed Red Flash (only 7 healthy players) lost a tough one to Stetson. Lennox Evertsen had 21 points in the win and was seen jawing back-and-forth with Dinko several times during the game as there was some friendly trash talk happening. Fernandez Markovic led the way for St. Francis with 17 points.

          St. Francis 73 @ Maine 42 (Dec 29, 2025)
St. Francis rebounded in a big way by holding the Black Bears to 13-53 shooting and not a single player scored in double digits. Chris Thompson had 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

This puts the Red Flash at 12-2 headed into conference play with 16 games remaining. Dinko shouldn’t expect to lose more than 1 game in conference this year, so the Red Flash have to be aiming for a 27-3 record to finish the year.

Here are 2 College Hoops Tonights in 1 video. The second half has no audio due to a glitch in my recording software.

Honestly I hadn’t even realised it had been going for that long, that’s crazy! Makes sense with the delays. Life has a habit of getting in the way.

I look forward to seeing what else unfolds in the coming seasons.

              Re: Brother Recap: December 2025

Both brothers should have their AD's fired. Back to back in STL and Florida? Even the NBA probably wouldn't pull that.

Then Loyola plays two on the east coast, flies all the way back to Portland for one, only to fly all the way back to NJ.

Thanks man. I've gotten into a good routine. Hoping to finish up this current season before May ends. We'll see if I can do it.

You've got me giggling. Let's just pretend the LMU AD decided to let an intern do the scheduling this time around.

                  Around the NBA: December 2025

Another month is in the books and this NBA season is far from settled. The Grizzlies look like the class of the league while other fast starters have struggled mightily in the holiday season.

Lots of change in the standings
From November to December there was much more change in the standings and general form of teams than may be expected. This chart shows how teams’ prospects have changed from November 30 to December 31, with the first column showing their change in the standings and the second showing how many games above or below .500 they were this month.

There are several teams worth mentioning based on how they performed in December.
                  1. The Memphis Grizzlies were 14 wins above .500 in December, dominating the league and already have a commanding lead atop the conference. What’s made them so good? It all starts with Ja Morant (PG, 95 ovr) of course, but the rest of their backcourt has been huge. Dor Pettyjohn (SG, 82 ovr), Lonzo Ball (SF, 83 ovr), and Britton Wainright (SG, 79 ovr) make up the most productive 4-man guard rotation in the league this year. They also allow a league best 108 points per game.
                  2. Cleveland has rounded into form and has the second best record in the league and they look more like the team that won the NBA Finals last year and less like the up-and-down team we saw in the regular season last year. Darius Garland (PG, 88 ovr) is great of course, but Andrew Wiggins (SF, 82 ovr) and Kevin Porter Jr (SG, 81 ovr) have been fantastic complements to Garland and St. Fort (C, 83 ovr).
                  3. In contrast to those two teams, the Hornets have been in a free fall, dropping 6 spots to 9th in the standings. Much of this was due to an injury to Jerry Sparks, and they struggled to generate consistent offense without him in the lineup.
                  4. The Honu have gotten back in their groove and look like they’re a legitimate playoff contender again and this isn’t a fluke as they’ve risen up 3 spots. Tyler Herro (SG, 84 ovr) has been fantastic again, though Markelle Fultz (PG, 84 ovr) has seen his stats fall and they need better defense as they’re allowing over 177 points per game.
                  5. Denver has been dealing with major injuries all season but have been very resilient to get to the top of the Western conference as Jokic plays like the best big man in the NBA.
                  6. After early signs showed that the Embiid trade was a great one, the Dallas Mavericks have undergone an early season swoon, playing 2 games below .500 in December. The West is bad, so they can easily rebound and rise, but it’s disappointing to see them in the 6th spot.
                  7. The Atlanta Hawks might only be 10th, but they’ve shown real signs of life in a very difficult East, playing 5 games over .500 in December.
                  8. The Phoenix Suns still aren’t a .500 team, but they have had a much better December than November and are rising up the standings. If they can continue this standard of play, they may get out of the play-in.
                  9. In a big surprise, the Sacramento Kings are making a push for playoff positioning. They’ve played winning basketball in December and find themselves in the play-in right now. They have a -12 point differential per game, but seem to be playing a bit better as a team this year.
                  10. The nagging injuries to Anthony Davis has definitely impacted the Lakers who are 6 games under .500 this month and really need to rebound.
                  11. The SuperSonics were bad in November, but losing James Harden has made them miserable. They went 1-14 in December. With less help around him, Bobby Drake’s stats have dropped this season even as he’s expected to take on more of the burden with Harden out.

It’s worth noting that the top 6 teams in the East have better records than the Nuggets, the West’s #1 team. The West is down and bad in a way it hasn’t been in many, many years and the East is stacked in ways that the West was in the aughts.

Unexpected budding stars in the West?
There are two players have had unexpected jumps in their production out West. While it’s still too early to see if this is just players taking advantage of teams without much offensive talent or a real rising star, we wanted to highlight both of these guys.

Rudolph Butler (SF, 83 ovr) was featured recently as someone who had stepped up his offensive game in a big way and the surprising Rockets are seeing the fruit of that. Butler scored a career-high 54 points in a victory over Portland using his efficient scoring and ability to finish at the rim. The 3rd year wing from Michigan State is a full-time starter for the first time in his career and has fit in great alongside Rayjon Tucker (SG, 78 ovr) and Julius Randle (PF, 83 ovr).

B.A. Guasco (SG, 81 ovr) was largely a role player and an afterthought around the league while he was in Charlotte. Sure, Hornets fans loved him, but with all the big names that were in Charlotte he wasn’t on the radar of the national media. Now, on a rebuilding Utah team it’s not Matt Forney (PG, 81 ovr) that has become the team’s offensive force, but instead free agent signing Guasco. The 5th year SG out of UCLA was drafted by the Hornets in the same draft that landed them Jerry Sparks but didn’t play a single game his rookie year. Despite missing a month due to injury, Guasco is averaging over 28 points per game and has scored over 40 three times this season. His previous career high was 16 points per game and he’s using his athleticism to get to the rim over and over and is shooting a respectable 35% from three on 10 attempts per game. The efficiency isn’t great, but he has been effective.

                  Projected All-Stars
We’re a month away from All-Star voting closing and here’s the projected list of All-Stars. Here’s the current voting:

The voting is reasonable (for a fan vote), but a number of players can feel like they’re being shorted. We’ll start with the ridiculous.
                  1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is scoring 32 points per game for Miami and is clearly a top 10 player in the league.
                  2. Darius Garland is leading one of the best teams in the NBA, is averaging 26 points and 10 assists per game and is right to feel aggrieved.
                  3. Joel Embiid is probably the second best center in the league and averaging a 24, 11, and 3.

Here are some other players that look like they’ll miss the cut:
                  1. Bruno Radja is once again one of the 2 best players on the Celtics and is averaging 23 points and 10 assists per game. Unfortunately for him there are too many amazing point guards in the East.
                  2. Jameer Trammell is scoring 26 ppg for the Magic.
                  3. Milos Jeffers is scoring 26 ppg for the Lakers.
                  4. Pascal Siakam is scoring a career-high 24 points per game for the Heat.
                  5. De’Aaron Fox is scoring a career-high 27 ppg in Toronto, but the Raptors are bad.
                  6. Ben Long is scoring 24 ppg and grabbing 6 rebounds per game for the Pacers.

Donovan Mitchell tosses an alley oop to Giannis on the pick-and-roll.

There’s just something about a world that becomes populated by so many fictional players. Think it’s about the freedom it allows you from the real world bias.

That’s hilarious about the Lonzo cf, though. Luckily you’ve got an array of others to choose from if needs be.

Guasco, a secret IMF agent, has been wearing a LaMelo Ball mask his entire career to hide his true identity while he infiltrates the Big Baller Brand to expose their business practices. During one of LaMelo's many surgeries for various injuries, LaMelo was secretly given a new face with plastic surgery and his memory erased by Agent J. After many years undercover, Guasco has successfully exposed the company and all 500 people who bought shoes have achieved justice with a refund for their horribly overpriced shoes. Now, Guasco can return to his real identity and LaMelo can go back to his crazy dad.

Yeah, sometimes I love it, sometimes it's hard. I can't rely on existing narratives at all, I gotta provide the depth myself. But I like being more immersed in all that's happening.

After many years undercover, Guasco has successfully exposed the company and all 500 people who bought shoes have achieved justice with a refund for their horribly overpriced shoes. Now, Guasco can return to his real identity and LaMelo can go back to his crazy dad.
Is that the plot to Face/Off 2? lol. Love your new headcanon.

I did not realise this is 7 seasons deep! Incredible!! Sonics are a disaster in this timeline. Hawaii are a solid outfit though!

re Lamelos cyberface, are you on pc or ps4/5 for this? If on pc you can get a full list of cyberface previews and assign some. I always do it as I can't stand the generated faces.

How have you found recruiting on CHoops? I find it very diffiuclt on NCAA Basketball. Just wondered how it worked in this game. Having said that 7 years in probably means it decent

I may have missed this but is Bruno Radja any relation to Dino? A former Celtics great

Thanks for checking in. It's crazy because the expansion draft for Seattle + Hawaii had clear themes: Seattle took vets (Hassan Whiteside, Derrick Rose, Kyle Lowry) and wanted to be competitive right away. Hawaii took young players on cheap contracts and wanted to build slowly.

And then the opposite happened. Seattle stunk and had no money for free agency and the Honu used all that cash to sign Markelle Fultz and Tyler Herro, both of whom have blossed to be much better players than expected.

I think both Montreal and Vancouver will take notice of how it went for these 2 teams and will act accordingly when they draft.

2K23 on PC! I use NLSC's Cyberface list plus psamyall's Cyberface Mixer. It's a great way to get way better faces. This was just a case where I was lazy and when I moved from 2K20 to 23 I had Guasco replace Ball and didn't change his CF.

It's not easy at first. Season 1 Dinko and Oggy only signed a combined 1 recruit. But as the coaches get better I've been able to get better classes. It'll be up and down, but I appreciate that it's harder than a game like EA CFB25.

                                Coaches’ Corner: Episode 16 – January 10, 2026

It is KDKA Channel 2’s distinct privilege to present Coaches’ Corner with Pittsburgh’s adopted son, Ognyan Dragomirov. Live from Los Angeles, California, here is the head coach of Loyola Marymount University.
                                -----

                                Oggy:
Welcome and ‘zdraveyte’ to another episode of Coaches’ Corner with the brothers Dragomirov. I’m Oggy, your West Coast coach, and I’m joined by a simple man, Dinko.

                                Dinko:
A simple man with a simple plan: win basketball games.

                                Oggy:
I can’t deny that, as once again you show you are better at doing so than me.

                                Dinko:
Don’t worry, winning comes with time and you’re getting plenty of time and practice. I’m sure you’ll experience it soon.

                                Oggy:
Yes yes. Let’s go straight into our first question, which is a nostalgic one. Jose in El Paso asks “Oggy and Dinko, any stories about clutch moments from your playing days?”

Why don’t you go first? I know we both have a few moments.

                                Dinko:
Sure. I’ll tell a story I’m sure very few know. I wasn’t exactly a widely known recruit and was lucky to even end up in a situation where the folks from Duquesne were looking at me. They had tape of me in Bulgaria and had my measurables, but honestly didn’t know how to think about Bulgarian competition and how good I was. So I was invited to a multi-day showcase of high school prospects from the greater Pittsburgh and Cleveland areas. It wasn’t anything too prestigious: most of these kids would be thrilled with a mid-major offer and many would end up in D3.

However, I made the most of my time at this camp. I wasn’t the best player or highest scorer, but I completely controlled the paint. I outrebounded everyone, dissuaded drives to the rim, set rock solid screens, and even had a number of assists. My team didn’t lose a game over the whole 3 days.

When my family and I met with Duquesne after the camp, they had a full scholarship offer written up for us and plans for how to help our parents settle into Pittsburgh. It was a lock. I came through when it mattered.

                                Oggy:
Yeah, that was a great week for you.

                                Dinko:
Haha, not for you. I seem to remember you regularly cursing at your teammates in Bulgarian and feeling frustrated you never got to touch the ball.

                                Oggy:
Let’s just move on to one of my better moments. Back in Sofia we were playing in an important rivalry game and we were down 1 with 10 seconds left. Coach drew up a play to get Dinko the ball on the right block. I know my brother, and I had a feeling he was going to try for a right-handed hook shoot. I set up on the left elbow and the moment he started his shimmy, I cut to the weakside of the basket. He was a bit off with the hook and it hit the heel of the rim. I was already in the air and slammed the ball back home to put us up with just 2 seconds left.

We won the game, and it was so gratifying to know what was going to happen, prepare for it, and to have it pay off with a game-winning dunk.

                                Dinko:
That was an awesome game and you saved me there. I can’t believe I missed that hook. I should have faked it and gone left.

                                Oggy:
I know what you like – you’re a man of consistency. It would have really surprised me if you did anything else. Our next email is consistent with feedback I’ve received out of Greeley – anger. “I’m gonna get right to the point. I think it was garbage the way you left Greeley. You and your brother are media darlings, having twins coaching is *soo cute* according to reporters. Gross. You packed up like the Baltimore Colts in the middle of the night like a coward and left your players and fans hanging. You were building something, and you left it. But you don’t care, Greeley is a distant memory, but we live here. We love the Bears, and it hurt.”

                                Dinko:
Let me jump in. It was ABSOLUTELY not garbage the way Oggy left Greeley. Northern Colorado had 2 advantages over Stetson: you could see the mountains and the absence of Florida Man. When Stetson came calling, and it was an upgrade in almost every way imaginable, what was Oggy supposed to do? Say “no, I’m good, I’d prefer to coach in this place with fewer resources, less talent, and less potential, it’s just what my career needs?” No freaking way. Give me a break. He left with 2 years on his deal, but Stetson paid the buyout and Oggy has booked games with UNC most years. He didn’t run, he came back and owned it.

I get you’re sad: you’re allowed to be sad, but don’t act like Oggy did something wrong. Absurd.

                                Oggy:
I appreciate that. Reflecting on the situation, I would have done it all over again. Moving to Stetson was a fantastic decision. I still haven’t reached those heights at Loyola yet.

I did learn some lessons though. I am very explicit with administration about my ambitions and plans now, and I could have been even more over-the-top with my messaging to fans after I left, but those are small things.

                                Dinko:
For sure. Don’t think I don’t have a bit of envy for the adventures you’re going on. Though, I can’t have too much envy. [pauses, reaches out of screen, and holds up the Drago Derby trophy]. 6-1 little Oggy, 6-1.

                                Oggy:
Ugh. I thought you’d win with grace.

                                Dinko:
[big goofy grin spreads across Dinko’s face]. I allow myself one moment of weakness per victory.

                                Oggy:
Alright, final question of the show. This one is from Candice in Scranton, PA. She asks “Dinko, with the recent announcement that all St. Francis athletics are moving to division 3 except for men’s basketball, what do you think of that? Is it a good idea or bad idea? How will this impact your basketball program?”

                                Dinko:
I’m not a fan of it. I feel for the other coaches at the school and existing athletes. We might be low-level D1, but there’s a prestige that comes from being in D1. The chance to make the big dance. And it sucks to lose that. I’m fortunate that they’ve kept basketball at D1 due to our success, but it does make me wonder how long that will be the case and if I have to worry. I believe we re-upped with the NEC for at least 4 more years for basketball, so it’s not an urgent concern, but it is a concern.

                                Oggy:
Yeah, it’s not great, and it’s sad. I get it though – there are financial realities and St. Francis is a tiny school. Not many D1 schools smaller than you all, and it’s not like you have some above-and-beyond enticing experience to offer folks in Loretto. There is no space age campus or beautiful beaches. It’s just a small community an hour from Pittsburgh.

                                Dinko:
And I love that for the community feel and support, but yes, it’s not part of my standard recruiting pitch – though there are some moms that love to hear about our location – and that usually gets groans from their sons.

                                Oggy:
Well, that’s a wrap. Thank you for joining me Dinko, and good luck in the NEC. Let’s see if you can run the table, and maybe we can both make the big dance for the first time in several years.

                                Dinko:
That would be amazing. Still amazed they let you have your own show.

                                Oggy:
So am I. Take care everyone!

                                -----

                                Note:

I received a submission for an interesting question. One about having the brothers talk about NIL, transfers, and their impact on the NCAA basketball landscape. Unfortunately, because I am in a closed legacy and have limited ability to change anything, I have no way of implementing or enforcing a transfer portal-type system. If I could do it all over again, it’s something I may have considered: creating my own portal rules and having a bunch of players switch teams (which would have to be done manually by editing players on various teams). As it is, I can’t do anything about it.

So while it’s a good and interesting question, in Oggy and Dinko’s universe, the transfer portal doesn’t exist, so I’m going to stay away from that question for now.
