Re: Just Win Baby! HC 09 Raiders Dynasty
Week 4
The Raiders annihilated the Chiefs in week 2, and KC Coach Herm Edwards knows that if they Kansas City is going to have any chance of winning the AFC West they need a win at home today.
KC HB Larry Johnson doesn't waste anytime showing he's ready for this one. HB Johnson breaks free from the pack and goes 61yds for the TD. Oakland responds with a HB Justin Fargas rushing TD of their own.
KC 7 OAK 7 at the end of the 1st quarter
Oakland DC Rob Ryan clearly had a talk with his defense because KC HB Larry Johnson isn't finding any room to run in the 2nd quarter. Oakland's offense gives the Raiders the lead when HB Justin Fargas goes in for a 3yd TD run.
KC 7 OAK 14 at the half
The third quarter is full of turnovers. Kansas City turns it over once (QB Damon Huard INT.) Oakland turns it over 3 times (2 fumbles by HB Justin Fargas, and 1 fumble by QB JaMarcus Russell.)
KC 7 OAK 14 as the 3rd quarter ends
Oakland starts the 4th quarter by adding an unusual TD. In a rush substitution, Coach Joslin sent in WR Albert Stewart. WR Stewart scored on a 12yd pass from QB JaMarcus Russell.
KC 7 OAK 21
With Oakland pulling away, KC QB Damon Huard gets desperate and makes a bad throw. CB DeAngelo Hall makes him pay by taking the ball back 39yds for a TD.
KC 7 OAK 28
The Chiefs fall apart and the Raiders find their stride. The Raiders add 14 more unanswered points on TD runs of 14yds and 10yds by HB Justin Fargas.
KC 7 OAK 42
With the clock ticking down, and the game out of reach the Chiefs decide to go for it on a 4th and long on their own 2yd line. Oakland DE Tony Bake makes them pay when he throws QB Damon Huard to the ground in the endzone for a safety!
KC 7 OAK 44 final!
Oakland remains undefeated!

Re: Just Win Baby! HC 09 Raiders Dynasty
How the mighty have fallen! The Chargers were considered to be the cream of the AFC, and despite very few off season changes they have toppled into the cellar of the NFL.
So far this season the Chargers were blown out in Week 1 by the Raiders (OAK 45 SD 17), Lost a close one due to 4th quarter mistakes to the Giants in week 2 (NYG 24 SD 17), didn't show up for their game vs. the Titans in week 3 (TEN 34 SD 17) and lost a heartbreaker in Denver, when QB Jay Cutler led the Broncos to a 4th quarter come from behind victory (DEN 13 SD 10).
The Chargers went 7-9 last season, and look to be doing considerably worse this year. Head Coach Norv Turner needs to turn things around and quickly if he wants to be with the Lightning Bolts next season.
Unfortunately for Turner, Oakland Head Coach Ken Joslin doesn't plan on letting that happen.
San Diego continues its trends of starting slow and can't get anything going in the first half. Chargers HB LaDanian Tomlinson tries to get something going on the ground, but after 18 carries and only 1 yard to show for it, it is clear this one is going to depend on QB Phillip Rivers.
In contrast, the Raiders have no problems with the Chargers defense. Oakland QB JaMarcus Russell hits WR Mario Manningham for 3 TDs in the first half (3yd, 73yd, 3yd)
OAK 21 SD 0 at the half
The Chargers finally put some points on the board in the 3rd, having to settle for a 28yd FG from K Nate Kaeding. K Nate Kaeding adds a long FG as well when he hits a 47yd FG.
OAK 21 SD 6
Oakland responds with another TD pass from QB JaMarcus Russell to WR Mario Manningham (4yd)
OAK 28 SD 6 at the end of the 3rd quarter
The Raiders extend their lead by another 17 points in the 4th quarter. QB JaMarcus Russell throws his 5th TD of the game to WR Renaldo Green (37yd), P Shane Lechler adds a 31yd FG, and HB Justin Fargas adds a 3yd TD run. HB Fargas has to leave the game with a leg injury.
San Diego QB Phillip Rivers finds backup TE Vince Duvall for a 10yd TD as time expires.
OAK 45 SD 13!
Raiders crush the Chargers.
Player Stats
OAK QB JaMarcus Russell 20 of 27 (74%) for 354yds, 5 TDs, INT, fumble
SD QB Phillip Rivers 18 of 26 (69%) fro 278yds, TD, INT
OAK HB Justin Fargas 31 carries for 112yds TD
SD HB LaDanian Tomlinson 18 carries for 1yd
OAK WR Mario Manningham 13 catches for 208yds 4 TDs
OAK WR Renaldo Green 7 catches for 146yds, TD
SD TE Vince Duvall 8 catches for 114yds TD
SD WR Chris Chambers 7 catches for 112yds
OAK OLB Keith Rivers 5 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, Defl
SD DT Jamal Williams 5 tackels, 3 TFL, 2 sacks, Defl, forced fumble

Re: Just Win Baby! HC 09 Raiders Dynasty
HB Justin Fargas - Torn ACL - Out for 5-6 Months
Upon hearing the news Coach Joslin placed HB Fargas on Injured Reserve. This is a blow to the Raider offense, as HB Fargas played a key role. Last year's MVP and Rushing Leader won't be easy to replace.
Coach Joslin had this to say about the injury, "It's tough, really tough. We count on Justin a lot, and he does a lot for us. Fortunately we have good depth at HB, and should be able to move forward without losing too much."
No word out of Oakland as to who will get the start at HB next week, backup HB Jamelle O'Neill or free agent signee HB Chris Johnson a former 1st round pick of the Steelers.Comment

Re: Just Win Baby! HC 09 Raiders Dynasty
Is Quarterback The Most Important Position?
Picture a kitchen without a chef. You have the flashy cutlery, the heavy pots and pans, and all the right ingredients. With nobody to use these, they are about as useful as a barbecue without charcoal.
A team without a solid quarterback isn't much of a team in my opinion. Who is going to lead the team down the field? Sure the running back can do a large part but he isn't the one who has to call out audibles and blocking assignments. And let's face it the era of running backs pounding the ball all day are long gone. In today's NFL you need a passer.
The quarterback is the heart and soul of a team. He makes the big decisions during the plays he can change something if the defense is set up to well or even poorly. The wide receivers can't catch the ball if the quarterback isn't good enough to get them the ball. A team needs a good quarterback to manage the game and that's all there is to it.
The question is, how many quarterbacks does a team need? Suprisingly for over half the teams in the league the answer is four or more. Seventeen teams currently carry 4 QBs with one team carrying 5 QBs. Is this crazy, or is it just me?
Teams with 4 or more QBs (Team, QBs with OVR, Combined salary for this year)
Bears: QB Joe Kain (R) 88, Neil Burke (R) 71, Sugar Tate 67, Kyle Orton 66 - $12M
Bengals: QB Carson Palmer 91, Dennis Dixon 73, Jeff Rowe 71, Sleepy Curry 70 - $5.3M
Browns: QB Derek Anderson 85, Brady Quinn 76, Devin Tyson (R) 72, BB Fischer 68 - $11.5M
Buccaneers: QB Brian Griese 79, Sage Rosenfels 76, Luke McCown 69, Marques Tuiasosop0 63, Bruce Gradowski 61 -$6.6M
Cardinals: QB Matt Leinart 79, Andre Woodson 81, JP Losman 74, Cashmere Neighbors (R) 72 - $7.2M (despite being the most talented QB on the roster Andre Woodson does not start and he makes the least amount of money.)
Chargers: QB Phillip Rivers 83, David Carr 73, Todd Bouman 69, Andrew Leslie (R) 67 - $11.9M
Chiefs: QB Damon Huard 77, Brodie Croyle 71, Charlie Batch 69, Dexter Michaels (R) 77- QB4? Why isn't this kid starting? - $8.8M
Cowboys: Tony Romo 87, JaJuan Coles (R) 76, Alex Steele 72, Marcus Wesley (R) 71 - $8.8M
Dolphins: Matt Ryan 83, John Beck 74, Justin Hughes (R) 68, Chuck Rich (65) - $12.7M
Falcons: Noah Wyoming (R) 82, Josh Johnson 76, John David Booty 69, Jamie Martin 68 - $4.5M
49ers: Tyron Singleton (R) 79, Alex Smith 72, Jack Mealer (R) 67, Henry Beal 67 -$9.2M
Giants: Eli Manning 89, TJ Warren 74, Harold Johnstone 68, Jared Lorenzen 67 - $9M

Rams: Marc Bulger 83, Ingle Martin 76, Josh McCown 74, Sam Keller 72 -$9.4M
Ravens: Kerry Collins 85, Trent Dilfer 73, Troy Smith 72, Bernard Morris 63 - $4.5M
Redskins: Jason Campbell 84, Luther Lucas (R) 68, OJ Terry (R) 68, Delwan Golden (R) 66 - $3.6M

Week 6- Bye Week
GM David Baumhower has been busy locking players into deals.
Position, Name (age- OVR/Potential), years, total $, signing bonus

ROLB Thomas Howard (26-89/91) 6yr deal worth $36.8M with a $13M signing bonus
LG Torrin Tucker (27-81/82) 3yr deal worth $1.4M, no bonus
RE Derrick Burgess (31-82/83) 2yr deal worth $6M with a $2.5M bonus
DT Trevor Laws (24-82/83) 2yr deal worth $1.3M with no bonus
HB Chris Johnson (24-81/90) 2yr deal worth $2.1M with a $1.5M bonus
LOLB Clifford Avril (24-81/84) 6yr deal worth $14.8M with a $5.5M bonus
LG Roy Schuening (24-84/89) 3yr deal worth $980K with a $250K bonus

MLB Braxton Watkins (24-78/86) 6yr deal worth $11.2M with a $5M signing bonus
WR Dorien Bryant (24-77/90) 2yr deal worth $620K
WR Albert Stewart (21-76/90) 2yr deal worth $760K with a $500K signing bonus
GM Baumhower has expressed interest in resigning several other players as well, but hasn't had a chance to meet with their representation or negotiations have hit a road block.
On the list to be resigned are
QB Jake James UFA (75/87)- it all depends on how much he wants, he's a great backup, but Coach Joslin and GM Baumhower aren't willing to make him a millionaire to ride pine.
WR Mario Gray UFA (82/94)- amazingly talented, unfortunately he wants to be compensated like a starter. It is unlikely the Raiders will give in to his demands of a long term deal (5yr) worth as much as $18M. It just doesn't make sense with the Raiders typically only having 2 WR on the field at any given time and having solid starters in rookie WR Renaldo Green and WR Mario Manningham.
TE Vernon Davis (63/73)- Coach Joslin is intrigued by Davis' physical tools, despite his seemingly limited potential.
LT Jeff Otah (88/88)- Otah has let it be known he has no intention of signing with the Raiders. He wants out.
C Jake Austin (78/89) - a training camp invitee with tons of upside.
CB Alan Craig (70/85)- a training camp invitee that Coach Joslin would like to hold onto for depth at Corner.Last edited by kdmajoslin; 04-11-2010, 05:45 PM.Comment

Week 7
HB Jamelle O'Neill will get the start for the injured HB Justin Fargas. HB O'Neill started 1 game last season and played in another 9 games. In that time he had 48 carries for 198yds 6 TDs, and a Fumble.
The Raiders dominate the entire game on both sides of the ball. HB Jamelle O'Neill does well, showing the Raider faithful that he can be "the man."
The Raiders score 21 unanswered points in the 1st half. All on HB Jamelle O'Neill runs (6yd TD, 12yd TD, 13yd TD)
OAK 21 BAL 0 at the half
The second half is more of the same. The Ravens defense does show up briefly in the 3rd quarter holding the Raiders to a P Shane Lechler FG
OAK 24 BAL 0 in the 3rd
In the 4th, Ravens QB Kerry Collins saves Baltimore from the shutout with a 7yd TD pass to HB Willis McGahee. The Raiders offense continues to roll adding 20 more points (2 P Shane Lechler FGs, HB Jamelle O'Neil TD run, and a TD catch by WR Renaldo Green.)

Week 8
Fans were expecting a high scoring game, but what they got was a slugfest.
Oakland scores first on a 9yd run by HB Jamelle O'Neill.

The Broncos take advantage of a fumble by Jamelle O'Neill to even the score. QB Jay Cutler hits HB Shaun Alexander for a 16yd TD
OAK 7 DEN 7 at the half
The Raiders take the lead back in the 3rd when QB JaMarcus Russell hits rookie WR Renaldo Green for a 10yd TD.
OAK 14 DEN 7 in the 3rd
The Oakland defense comes up big and forces Denver to kick a FG. K Rian Lindell nails the 43yd FG to narrow the gap to 4.
OAK 14 DEN 10 in the 4th
Raider HB Jamelle O'Neill fumbles the ball in Oakland territory. Denver QB Jay Cutler moves the Broncos down the field with less than 2 minutes remaining. The Broncos get to the 5yd line, before the Raiders wake up and start making some stops. 4th and Goal, from the 5yd line, and a FG won't help. The Broncos go for it. DE Tony Bake makes the sack.
