            The Prowl
            Demon Deacs Triumph at Home

            Volume 1, Issue 22

WF HB Chris Barclay tore apart
whatever defense Clemson threw at him

Wake Forest, NC - Again, the Clemson Tigers let a game slip away late in the contest. This time, however, it wasn't against a historically successful team like Miami. This time, Wake Forest completed the comeback against a very inconsistent Clemson squad.

The first half was nothing but great for the Tigers. In fact, the Demon Deacons were able to muster only 85 yards of total offense in the first two quarters. Led by impact HB James Davis, Clemson was able to hold a 28-17 lead at the half, which made the game seem a lot closer than it really was.

In the second half, Clemson didn't necessarily play bad football, Wake Forest just came through when they needed to get the job done. Following a scoreless third quarter, the Deacs came out strong in the final frame. A 3-yard touchdown run by their fullback put WF within five points of the Tigers. The 2-point conversion attempt failed miserably, but the hometeam was far from throwing in the towel. Charlie Whitehurst eventually threw his second interception of the game in the endzone, and gave Wake Forest enough time to drive downfield. Not much driving was needed, however, as quarterback Cory Randolph hooked up with Kevin Marion for a 45-yard score, putting the Deacs up for good.
