No doubt about it. The lack of size is killing me. 14 rebounds!?! Are you kidding me.

      Re: Coppin State Eagles (CH2K6)

What offense are you running? Perhaps it would be beneficial to attempt the drive-and-dish. The defense (ideally) collapses on the inside player, allowing you to kick it out to a wide-open (again, ideally) 3-point man. Even without big men, you have to have good shooting to win games. Try to get the best shooting guards you can out on the floor and get them open looks.

If you're already doing this, don't take this as an insult, I'm just trying to help ya out, man.

Eagles Roughed Up At Paulley 107-69
Surprisingly Close First Half Shows Improvement

Los Angeles, CA (AP) - Well, you can't say the Eagles weren't in this game. With 4 minutes remaining in the first half, Coppin State only trailed the Bruins of UCLA 35-31. With a deficit of 52-40, it was just too much to overcome as they went on to win 107-69.

Aaron Afflalo lead all scorers with 20 points.

A few positives can be taken from a game like this. Even though UCLA shot 73%, they only grabbed 2 offensive rebounds which is 10 lower than vs Xavier.

Coach Fang Mitchell said after the game, "We played our tails off, especially in the first half. You could tell they really wanted it by the way they were hustling and getting to rebounds. Even though we lost big, I'm still proud of these kids.

When asked about why he scheduled such tough non-conference opponents, Fang stated that "In order to be the best, you must be the best. We are currently trying to prepare these kids not only for this year but next year. I fully expect our kids to be ready to roll come MEAC conference games. The experience vs great teams will work to our advantage."

Darryl Proctor lead all Eagles with 12 points.

A better shooting night by any meaning.

They blocked you a lot... did you try to take it inside a lot?

You do need a big man.

Yeah, I took it in alot more and shot alot less threes (only 9)

It's just so hard to go to the bucket when your tallest guy is only 6'7".

*gulp* I have to play #2 Oklahoma (5-0) next. Aw ****.

Maybe you can get free mid-range shots? This will definitely be an interesting experience for you, controlling such a small team. How's the recruiting of that big guy?

Coppin State Gets Two Stepped In Norman, 128-78
Otis 44 Points Nowhere Near Enough In Massacre

Norman, OK (AP) - Taj Gray exploded for 28 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks as the #2 Oklahoma Sooners slaughtered the Eagles of Coppin State, 128-78.

West Otis of Coppin State had an career day, with 44 points.

For the first time all season, Coppin State decided to push the ball up and down the court. In return, they gave up tons of points, despite a season high themselves in points. Shockingly, the normally reliable free throw shooting of Coppin State, hit a snag barely shooting for over 50% from the line.

Seven different Sooners scored in double figures.

Said Coach Mitchell, "It's so clear why those are #2 in the nation. They are a damn fine shooting team, and so athletic. Their halfcourt trap is one of the best I've ever seen. And before you go, how about West Otis. Man, what a game. He did everything he could to win this game. For once, it was nice to see a kid on this team step up and put them on his back. Hopefully this will be a sign of things to come."

Illinois Smack Coppin State Around, 88-47
Eagles Hold Illinois To 27 Second Half Points

Champaign, IL (AP) - It was ugly from the start. Thanks to the domination underneath, the Fighting Illini jumped ahead early and never once looked back. Unlike previous games where the Eagles made it close early, this one got out of hand quickly.

After being down 61-29 at the half, Coach Mitchell decided to use up the shot clock on every possession through the 2nd half. Illinois only shot 48%, outscoring CSU 27-18 in the half.

Coach Mitchell said, "Reason we slowed the tempo was to a snails pace is because we simply couldn't run with them and their big men. I didn't want to allow Illinois to score 100 so I made sure they had the ball as little as possible."

Once again, West Otis had a great game scoring 21. Combined with his 44 vs Oklahoma, he's now scored 65 points in 2 games vs Top 20 opponents.
