    Panthers Rout Eagles 90-48
First Time All Season, Eagles Have Three In Double Figures

Pittsburgh, PA (AP) - The way the Eagles played tonight would remind you of smelly arm "pits". The Panthers jumped on CSU early, opening with a 14-0 lead.

By halftime, Pittsburgh lead 66-37. But much like the previous game, Coppin State decided to slow it down once again. Pitt only scored 24 second half points.

Coach Fang Mitchell said, "Just two more games and we're finally in conference play. I just really need some sleep. It's been a long month and a half."

Wolverines Scratch Eagles In 91-57 Victory
Coppin State Drops To 0-9 Despite Solid Shooting From Field

Ann Arbor, MI (AP) - Well, atleast the Eagles didn't walk off the court. Pretty much it was all Wolverines from the start. Coppin State did show some life, being down 32-9 by reeling off 10 straight points before allowing Michigan to have a 12-0 run of their own.

Said Coach Fang Mitchell, "Michigan is a mighty fine team. They were clearly the better team but I feel we are also getting better. We shot better from the field today than any other game this season, but our free throw shooting concerns me. We've been very off and on this year."

Only one game remains on the non-conference slate for the Eagles. After that, they'll open up MEAC play with 3 straight conference road games before finally going home.

Hey, Coppin had a decent shooting night.

In all seriousness, I bet you're happy the MEAC schedule is soon.

Spartans Dropkick Eagles In East Lansing Beatdown, 116-62
Coppin State Drops 16 Threes In Loss

East Lansing, MI (AP) - If you like scoring, you came to the right place. If you liked 41 three point shots taken by one team, you came to the right place. And that right place was in East Lansing.

Michigan State won decisively, 116-62 as the Spartans had 5 guys in double figures. As crazy as that score was, that wasn't even the most impressive stat of the night nor from MSU. It came from Coppin State, who shot 16 of 41 from three point range. Every since Eagle that took a three made atleast one. Even Brian Chesnut, the center, dropped off a three near the end of the game.

Most of the threes were set up from passes into the paint and kicked back out to open guys. Said Coach Mitchell, "If we remotely shoot as well as we did from beyond the arc tonight, I don't have any worries about this team in conference play. I am worried because we can't seem to score in the paint and we've started to stink up the joint with our free throw shooting."

Maurice Joseph lead all scorers with 27 points and dished out 4 assists as well in the 54 point win.

Coppin State wrapped up a dismal non-conference slate, going 0-10. Hopefully the 2006 calendar year will be more kind.

Eagles Get Stung Bad; Delaware State Wins 85-56
West Otis Goes For 36 In Losing Cause

Dover, DE (AP) - Well, that wasn't the way Fang Mitchell and the Coppin State Eagles wanted to start out 05/06 MEAC play. The Eagles took a step back in a 29 point defeat at the hands of the Delaware State Hornets, who played Duke in last years NCAA Tournament.

West Otis was the only bright spot once again on this team, scoring 36 points, including 6 of 22 from beyond the arc.

Once again, the Eagles free throw shooting is sub-par. The one positive for Coppin State is that they are about to play another team that has yet to win a game in Bethune Cookman.

Said Coach Mitchell after the game, "I really just don't know what to say. I thought after 10 very tough games, I felt my kids were ready to take on these teams and compete. Obviously, I was dead wrong. If we can't get it fixed by the next game, there will be some drastic changes made."

Coppin State Only Winless Team Remaing In D-I

Daytona Beach, FL (AP) - Well, we knew one of these had to win, even though neither deserve to. Bethune Cookman stepped up in a 76-70 win over the Coppin State Eagles.

Despite blowing leads of up to 13, Coppin State could never pull ahead. After going 1 of 9 in the first half from beyond the arc, the Eagles came out firing in the second half hitting 9 of their first 13 attempted threes. For the entire second half, CSU finished 13 of 25 from three while only taking 5 shots inside the three point line.

Atleast the Eagles didn't give up in this game, when they could've. They just made some critical mistakes and wild passes in key moments, in which they could've grabbed the lead.

Said Coach Mitchell, "That loss is tough to swallow. It just hurts right now."

Michael Williams of Bethune-Cookman had 23 points to go along with 6 boards.

Eagles Get Rattled by Florida A&M 84-50
13 Three Pointers Not Enough For Coppin State

Tallahasse, FL (AP) - Tony Tate scored 22 points, leading the Rattlers of Florida A&M to an 84-50 victory of Coppin State.

Another amazing three point performance for the Eagles of Coppin State wasted because of bad passing and lack of size.
