Thanks Bamaman. I tried to find a middle ground that worked for me, between the people that just post scores and umd's great write-ups in his dynasty. I really enjoy those but don't have the patience to write that kind. It's been fun to keep track of the stats and write up the games. It makes it seem a little more realistic and adds some drama to it.

Re: UW-Green Bay Career Legacy - CB2K3 (Xbox)
Week 12 – West Region High School All-Star Game - MacArthur Court (Eugene, OR) - This year's West Region High School All-Star Game brought college coaches and NBA scouts from all over the country, both in person and via television coverage, to see some of the premier talent available for next season. They, as well as the fans in attendance, were witness to a rather lop-sided affair. The West Red All-Stars walloped the West Blue All-Stars 61-34. This game was rather close at halftime, with Red up 27-21 over Blue, but the Red players cranked up both the defense and the offense in the second half to run away with it. The Red team shot 50.9% to the Blue team's 34.9%. The Red squad forced 27 turnovers to only 8 of their own. The Red team was led by PG sensation Randolph Dixon, who put on a show with 24 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Dixon was 10-of-23 from the floor, including 4-of-11 from 3-point range. PF Charlie Williams added 16 points and SG Billy Daniels had 12 points and 11 assists. The Blue team was led by PG Russ Stone and PF Zachary Brown, both with 10 points.
2/6/03 - Continuing to play tough defense, the UWGB Phoenix allowed only 40 points to visiting Cleveland State in a 69-40 win over their Horizon League foe. The Phoenix led 36-23 at the half and coasted to the 29-point victory. UWGB led 19-9 in turnover margin, 48-38 in rebounding, 50-32 on points in the paint and 18-8 in second chance points. They also held Vikings starting PG Eddie Robbins to 0 points, 1 assist in 26 minutes. UWGB was led by C E.F. Matthews with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 blocks. He was joined in double-double territory by PF Steve Waller, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cleveland State had 11 points and 19 rebounds from C John Russell.
2/8/03 - Next up for UWGB was a visit from Detroit-Mercy, who entered the contest three games behind the Phoenix in the Horizon League standings. This game proved to be a real battle, resulting in the first overtime game of the season for UWGB. The result was a favorable one for the hosts as UWGB prevailed 80-78. Overtime was forced by Titans PG Benjamin Curtis, who hit a 3-pointer with 0.4 on the clock to tie the score 72-72. The Titans were 6-of-12 from 3-point range on the evening, while the Phoenix hit only 1-of-9. All of the UWGB starters contributed mightily to the effort with four players in double figures, led by SF Oscar Rogers with his 21 points and SG Billy Hutchinson's 19. C Ted Erwin paced Detroit-Mercy with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while PF Daryl Irvin collected only 8 points but pulled a whopping 21 rebounds.
Week 13 - North Region High School All-Star Game - Carver-Hawkeye Arena (Iowa City, IA) - The fans in Iowa City were on hand to watch a sloppy but tightly contested matchup between the North Blue All-Stars and the North Red All-Stars. The Blue team led 30-22 at halftime but fell in the end 58-54 to a tough Red squad. Both teams combined for 37 turnovers, but the Red team turned the tide with 16 blocked shots (to 3 for the Blue team) and a 42-22 scoring edge in the paint. The Red All-Stars were led by athletic SF Eric Hunt, who had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Hunt also hit on 50% of his shots. Red PG Bob Terrell had trouble finding his range, going 0-for-12 from 3-point land. The Blue All-Stars had four players in double figures, including 14 points and 10 rebounds from PF Albert Shannon.

2/10/03 - With only five games left on the schedule before the conference tournament, UWGB headed down the Lake Michigan coast to UW-Milwaukee to face the Panthers. Both teams clearly sensed the urgency of this game as they battled back and forth throughout the game, but UWGB ultimately pulled away for a 66-53 victory. The Panthers led 37-33 at halftime, despite 53.3% shooting by the Phoenix, but could not overcome the tough inside game that UWGB brings to the table. UW-Milwaukee seemed to be taking control of the game early in the second half, but their 45-35 lead was quickly erased on a 10-0 run by UWGB. The Phoenix continued to pound the ball inside and used a closing 9-0 run to take their 57-53 lead to the final score. That their inside game worked so well was surprising, considering starting C and leading scorer E.F. Matthews left the game with a herniated disc after only 4 minutes of play. However, Senior PF Mack Ray gave the team a lift with 22 minutes off the bench at C, scoring 8 points to go along with 13 rebounds and 4 steals. SF Oscar Rogers scored 18 points to lead the Phoenix. PF Leslie Boyd and C Jake Buggs both scored 12 points in 29 minutes for the Panthers, who as a team hit only 4-of-23 shots from 3-point range.
Week 14 - South Region High School All-Star Game - McKale Memorial Center (Tucson, AZ) - In the tightest high school all-star game of this season, the South Red All-Stars defeated the South Blue All-Stars 51-48. The two teams were fairly even in most offensive categories, with the Red squad holding a slight advantage behind the 3-point line. Fans in Tucson got a glimpse of a future star in PG Gary Boxler, who hit on 10-of-18 shots and scored 23 points for the Red team, including 3-of-6 on 3-point attempts. The quickness of PG Dwayne Marshall paced the Blue team, as Marshall scored 11 points to go with 6 assists and 5 steals, though SG Blake Bass lead the team in scoring with 15 points.

Re: UW-Green Bay Career Legacy - CB2K3 (Xbox)
2/15/03 - With a chance to clinch the Horizon League title with a win, the UWGB Phoenix started hot against the Loyola (Illinois) Ramblers. The Phoenix were able to take care of business and take the title, with a 55-52 win, but the victory was not without its difficulties. Even though UWGB led 31-21 at halftime and extended that to 45-28 early in the 2nd half, the Ramblers managed to bounce back and use a 20-2 tear to take a 48-47 lead with 6:38 remaining. However, SF Oscar Rogers took control down the stretch for UWGB and was able to help secure the win. Rogers had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals and was the only UWGB player scoring in double figures, although three players finished with 8 points each. PG Roberto Collison led Loyola with 22 points, but the real star for the Ramblers was C Kyle Mathis, who collected 14 points and 25 rebounds. UWGB cliniched the Horizon League title by taking a 4 game lead in the standings with 3 games left on the schedule.
2/19/03 - UWGB returned home riding a wave of emotion from their title-clinching game, playing rude hosts to the visiting Youngstown State Penguins in a 66-44 demolition. The Phoenix used a 13-0 run to close the 1st half and led 34-19 at the break. They padded that edge by 5 points in the 2nd half for the final margin. UWGB had three players in double figures on the night - C E.F. Matthews with 18, SF Oscar Rogers with 14 and PF Steve Waller with 10. The only Penguins player in double figures was C Karl Braswell with 10.
Week 15 - Great Lakes High School All-Star Game - Assembly Hall (Bloomington, IN) - The Great Lakes Blue All-Stars became the first Blue team to win an All-Star Game this year, beating the Red team by a final score of 59-48. The Blue squad used 53.3% shooting from the floor to get the win, holding the Red players to only 38.5%. Two Blue players scored 13 points each to lead the team, PG Jim Glover and PF Kevin Hutchinson, and SF Wil Ariza added 10. The Red team was led by PG Blake Lawrence with 13 points and SF Gus Frey with 10.

Re: UW-Green Bay Career Legacy - CB2K3 (Xbox)
2/27/03 - After 10 straight wins for UWGB, the party finally came to an abrupt halt on the road against Butler after an ugly 69-51 loss. The Phoenix were never in this game, falling behind 12-0 to start the contest. The Bulldogs shot 51.2% in the first half to UWGB's 27% in taking a huge 43-22 lead. The teams played fairly even in the 2nd half, which kept the Phoenix from being able to cut into the margin. The only highlight for UWGB was the play of C E.F. Matthews, who scored 23 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals on the night. The Bulldogs capped the banner night with three players collecting double-doubles - C Brent Lowe (18 points, 15 rebounds), SF Henry Korver (16 points, 13 rebounds) and PF Whitney Madison (11 points, 19 rebounds).
3/1/03 - UWGB was able to gain back some momentum going into the Horizon League Tournament by winning their final regular season game in exciting fashion against the Wright State Raiders, 62-61. After the Raiders had taken a 61-60 lead with 35.2 seconds remaining, C E.F. Matthews nailed a jumper from the corner of the key with .9 remaining to gain the victory. Matthews finished a strong regular season with 22 points and 17 rebounds, joined in double figures by PF Steve Waller who had 14 points. Wright State got 16 points and 14 rebounds from C Joe Murray, as well as 17 points, 7 assists from PG Pierre Dowling. The win brought UWGB's regular season record to 19-6 overall, 14-2 in Horizon League play.
Week 16 - South East High School All-Star Game - Cameron Indoor Stadium (Durham, NC) - In the ugliest All-Star Game of the season, the South East Red All-Stars defeated the Blue All-Stars 30-25. Both teams were ice cold from the floor all evening, with the Blue team shooting only 24.4% from the floor and the Red team 22.7%. Players' stock was dropping just as fast as the shooting percentages were, with no player scoring more than 8 points. PG Jamaal Matthews and SG Mike Scott had 8 points for the Red team, while the Blue team was led by SF D.J. Meyer with only 5 points. This was certainly not the level of basketball that fans in Durham, NC, were accustomed to seeing.

NCAA Tournament - West Region - Round 1
#13 Seed UW-Green Bay Phoenix
vs
#4 Seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Jon M. Huntsman Center - Salt Lake City, UT (University of Utah)
UWGB 71, Wake Forest 61
UWGB was successful in its first NCAA Tournament appearance under new head coach Britton Davenport, shocking the ACC's Wake Forest Demon Deacons 71-61. The game was a close one at halftime with Wake Forest leading 36-34. The Demon Deacons shot 51.7% from the floor in the first half and were 4-of-11 from 3-point range to UWGB's 45.9% and 0-for-2 on threes. Wake Forest was led by PG Ben Moran's 10 first half points, while UWGB got 12 from SF Oscar Rogers and 10 from C E.F. Matthews. The second half proved to be a real test for the Phoenix, but they were up to the challenge. Not backing down one bit from their more glamorous foe, UWGB took the lead early in the second half and slowly added to it. A jumper by Matthews gave the Phoenix a 64-56 edge with 2:24 left in the game. Wake Forest tried desperately to get back within a few baskets, but UWGB answered every basket with one of their own to seal the win. UWGB was led by Matthews with 24 points and 11 rebounds, playing every minute of the contest. Rogers ended with 19 points and PF Steve Waller added 10. The Demon Deacons were led by SG Ben Hughes with 16 points, followed by Moran (12 points, 8 assists) and C Monte Konryn (12 points, 10 rebounds). UWGB led in the paint 44-32.
NCAA Tournament - West Region - Round 2
#13 Seed UW-Green Bay Phoenix
vs
#5 Seed Kentucky Wildcats
Jon M. Huntsman Center - Salt Lake City, UT (University of Utah)
UWGB 71, Kentucky 63
UWGB continued its Cinderella run with a stunning 71-63 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats and their storied basketball tradition. The Phoenix are starting to turn heads nationally, proving their win in the first round was no fluke. Adding to the unlikeliness of the win, UWGB came back from a 40-30 halftime deficit to pull off the upset. After playing close for most of the first half, Kentucky appeared to be pulling away as the teams headed to the locker rooms. SF Rob Silva provided most of the momentum with a flurry in the final minutes to bring his halftime total to 12 points. SF Oscar Rogers was the star for the Phoenix with 16 points at halftime. He and C E.F. Matthews accounted for 26 of UWGB's 30 points at the break. UWGB came out for the second half with fire in their eyes, clearly motivated by the halftime speech given by Coach Davenport. Their early second half play showed they were not intimidated by Kentucky, nor were they going to go down to defeat quietly. A rainbow 3-point basket by SG Billy Hutchinson brought UWGB to within two at 52-50, then a jumper by Rogers tied the game at 52-52 with 8:09 remaining. The Wildcats called the bluff, however, and quickly pushed the lead back to 58-52 on two straight dunks, including an alley-oop to Silva, followed by a layup. Undaunted, UWGB again tied the score at 63-63 on a jumper by Matthews. After trading possessions, Rogers was fouled on a jump shot and made two clutch free throws to give the Phoenix their first lead 65-53 with 1:18 left in the contest. Kentucky attempted a 3-pointer and missed, but was able to control the rebound inside. However, the follow-up shot was blocked by PG Blair Abbott and UWGB scooped up the loose ball. The Phoenix offense was not able to capitalize, though, turning the ball over on an attempt to get the ball inside to Matthews. Kentucky took possession and called time out with 22.5 seconds remaining, still trailing 65-63. The Wildcats came out and ran the play designed in the huddle, but were unable to hit a jump shot and lost the rebound battle to Rogers. Kentucky had no option but to start fouling intentionally, sending UWGB's Hutchinson to the line for two. Hutchinson cooly hit both shots and pushed the lead to 67-63. Kentucky missed a long 3-point shot and had to foul intentionally again, this time sending Abbott to the stripe. Abbott hit both free throws and pretty much iced the win, now with the lead 69-63. The Wildcats had just enough time to get off another 3-pointer, only to miss one more time and again have to foul Abbott intentionally after the rebound. Abbott's final two free throws created the winning margin, 71-63. UWGB ended the game 15-of-18 at the free throw line, while Kentucky was only 1-of-4. Kentucky was unable to win the game despite leading in assists (18-13), rebounds (35-33), points in the paint (46-34), bench points (23-0) and second chance points (18-10). UWGB was led by Matthews with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Rogers had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and Hutchinson had 13 points. Kentucky's leading scorer was Silva with 18, who strangely had no other contribution (no assists, rebounds, steals or blocks), but had 6 turnovers. C Darrian Wright had a solid game with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

NCAA Tournament - West Region Semi-Finals (Round 3)
#13 Seed UW-Green Bay Phoenix
vs
#1 Seed Kansas Jayhawks
Bren Events Center - Irvine, CA (UC Irvine)
UWGB 74, Kansas 67
The glass slipper still fits! The UWGB Phoenix continued their improbable march through the NCAA Tournament, making headlines with the biggest win in the school's history - a 74-67 victory against the #1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks. The win sends UWGB on to a regional final for the first time ever, and the team's Cinderella bandwagon continues to grow with national support. The Jayhawks seemed to overlook the Phoenix as the game started, with UWGB jumping out to a 15-9 lead and forcing a time out. The heated discussion in their huddle seemed to light a fire under Kansas, as they settled down and played tough defense for the remainder of the first half. Kansas took a 22-21 lead on a 3-pointer by SG Frederick Cooper with 8 minutes left in the first half, continuing on to a 37-31 lead at the break. UWGB seemed a little frustrated by the Jayhawks' attacking defense heading into the locker room, but still looked determined knowing they had overcome a bigger deficit against Kentucky. That determination translated to the court as the second half began, and UWGB stormed back to take a 42-41 lead with 12:37 remaining on a jump shot by PF Steve Waller (14 points). Waller continued to lift the team with a basket and foul shot to build the lead to 47-41. The two teams traded baskets for the next several minutes, but Kansas was able to narrow the margin as the half wore on. Dependable UWGB backup PG Chris Carroll (Freshman) made the biggest play of his young career with a driving layup and free throw to give the Phoenix a 66-61 lead with 3:15 left, a play that seemed to breathe new life into his teammates for the tough stretch run. The rest of the team responded, as C E.F. Matthews slammed home a thunderous dunk and SF Oscar Rogers converted a layup at the shot clock buzzer to make the margin 70-61 with 24.9 seconds remaining in the game. Kansas was able to hit two 3-pointers late in the game, but these baskets were answered after intentional fouls with SG Billy Hutchinson and Waller both hitting two free throws apiece to seal the 74-67 win. Matthews led UWGB with 28 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Hutchinson had 15 points and Rogers had 10. Kansas was led by Cooper's 21 points and 5-of-7 from 3-point range, followed by PG Elmore Bender's 17 points, 8 assists. C Nicholas Garnett and PF Jackie Burnett had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Re: UW-Green Bay Career Legacy - CB2K3 (Xbox)
Final Four, here they come! The UWGB Phoenix continue to roll through the NCAA Tournament, much to the surprise of everyone but themselves. The latest victims were the Baylor Bears, who UWGB beat 63-53 to advance to next weekend's Final Four in New Orleans, Louisiana. UWGB continued to play methodical basketball, doing enough in the first half to take a 33-27 lead into the locker room. The Phoenix hit only 42.1% of their shots from the floor, but clamped down on defense and held Baylor to an even lower mark of 33.3%. Amazingly Baylor was even colder in the second half, as the frustrated Bears could get few shots to fall. UWGB used several small runs in the second half to build the lead, but a 10-0 burst early in the second half really was the one that sealed the win. Baylor did manage to close the gap late in the game against some reserve players, but it was too little too late for the other surprise entrant in this West Region Final. Both teams were sloppy in the game, combining for 32 turnovers. UWGB shot 40.5% overall, while Baylor shot only 32.4%. UWGB was led by SF Oscar Rogers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by C E.F. Matthews with 14 points, 14 boards. The only other Phoenix player in double figures was SG Jon Klein with 11 points in 10 minutes and a nice contribution off the bench. SF James Demanby was the leading scorer for Baylor with 14 points, while two Bears players were in double-figures in rebounds - C Ben Wilkes with 19 and PF Antawn Erickson with 16.
The pairings for the 2003 Final Four at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans are now set. One semi-final will have West #13 Seed UW-Green Bay facing Midwest #8 Seed Notre Dame, while the other will present East #10 Seed Wisconsin vs South #4 Seed Michigan State.
