    Atlanta Makes Move With A's
Ryan Langerhans has been dealt to the West Coast

Ryan Langerhans was batting just under .300 for ATL

Atlanta, GA -- In a surprise move, the Atlanta front office has dealt left fielder Ryan Langerhans to the Oakland Athletics. In return, the Braves have received cash and have opened up some cap room. As a result of the move, Matt Diaz will permanently play in left field. Diaz has always been considered the better hitter out of himself and Langerhans, and will now get the chance to prove himself as an everyday player.

      Braves Take Control in Chicago
Kyle Davies earned his fifth victory of the season
      Cubs 3, Braves 6

Jeff Francoeur hit his ninth homerun of the season in Chicago

Chicago, IL -- Kyle Davies and Rich Hill locked horns on the bump as the Braves and Cubs collided in Wrigley. The first couple of innings went just as people predicted from the two #5 starters, as runs were put up on the board.

Derrek Lee and Mark DeRosa both homered for the hometown Cubbies, but the Braves' bats definitely drowned any noise Chicago made offensively. Atlanta hit five homers on the afternoon, including two by Matt Diaz.

Kyle Davies recorded the victory, and the Braves jumped out to 1-0 in June.

      WP: Kyle Davies (5-4) - 7 IP, 6 K, 9 H, 3 ER
      LP: Rich Hill (4-4) - 3.1 IP, 6 K, 7 H, 5 ER
      S: Mike Gonzalez (10)

      Kelly Johnson - 3-5, 2B, SB (14)
      Jeff Francoeur - 1-5, HR (9)
      Chipper Jones - 1-5, HR (18)
      Craig Wilson - 2-3, HR (4)
      Matt Diaz - 2-4, 2 HR (3)

      Jacque Jones - 2-4, 2B
      Derrek Lee - 2-4, HR (12)
      Mark DeRosa - 2-4, HR (5), 2 RBI

      Record: 30-24

        Cubbies Stunned in Ninth
Atlanta batted around and scored sixth runs in the ninth
        Cubs 5, Braves 6

Kelly Johnson had the game-winning RBI in the ninth

Chicago, IL -- After eight innings, things looked dismal at best for the Atlanta Braves. Carlos Zambrano was damn near unhittable all afternoon, and didn't even give up a hit until the sixth inning. When Kelly Johnson led off the ninth with a hard single up the middle, though, Bobby Cox knew his team had a chance to make some things happen.

Down by five to begin the ninth, the Braves batted around and scored six times in the frame. Matt Diaz hit his third homerun in two games, and recorded three RBI in the process. The big blow brought the teams even at 5-5, but the Braves later took their first lead of the ball game on Johnson's second hit of the inning. Mike Gonzalez closed things out in the bottom of the ninth and earned his 11th save as the Braves took the huge win.

        WP: Oscar Villarreal (1-0) - 3 IP, 2 K, 2 H
        LP: Jason Marquis (4-3) - .1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER
        S: Mike Gonzalez (11)
        - Tim Hudson (ATL) - 5 IP, K, 9 H, 5 ER
        - Carlos Zambrano (CHC) - 8.1 IP, 3 K, 6 H, 2 ER

        Kelly Johnson - 3-5, RBI
        Chipper Jones - 2-4, 2B, RBI
        Matt Diaz - 2-4, HR (4), 3 RBI

        Jacque Jones - 2-4, 2B
        Alfonso Soriano - 2-4, HR (16), 2 RBI
        Aramis Ramirez - 2-4, 2B, HR (16), 2 RBI
        Derrek Lee - 2-4, 2B

        Record: 31-24
