    Iowa Hawkeyes (NCAA 2008)

I have kept journals of my dynasties for several years, but this is my attempt at posting one. It will be purely text as I don't know how to do those cool graphics, and due to real world responsibilites like work, don't have time to learn.

    System: Xbox
    Setting: All-American
    Quarters: 15 minutes
Rosters: Fairdale Kings, I did make a few changes to replace certain players on a few teams and did a handful of CAPs for players that were left off the game, but should be in it.
Sliders: I usually don't like to mess with them much except to correct a glaring issue. I did adjust the interceptions.

House rules: Don't use the sprint button on defense. Don't use it on offense once a player crosses the line of scrimmage
On defense I play as a defensive tackle, that is just a personal preference
Will use the actual non-conference schedules until there is an opening.

Recruiting: No restrictions, I am playing as a successful BCS program, so why place limits as in real life, most of the teams at the University of Iowa have players from all over the country.

I made corrections to reflect the current actual Iowa roster with three exceptions. In reality, WR 88 Dominique Douglas and WR 84 Anthony Bowman are currently suspended from the team pending the resolution of their legal problems. I decided to keep them in the game and play them. HB 23 Shonn Greene is currently attending a local junior college in order to regain eligibility. Since he had a redirt season, i redshirted him for 2007.

If the game clock is running, I use as much time as allowed before calling a play on defense. If the game clock is running on offense, I don't snap the ball until the play clock is under 5 seconds. If I have a man in motion I will make it 10 seconds.

In the first game, the offensive numbers were gaudy but I think it was due to the opponent as they were very weak. I expect things to change against Wisconsin.

Dominance on both sides of the ball in season opener

Chicago (AP) - Iowa opened the 2007 season with a 66-28 win over Northern Illinois. While the game was considered a home game for the Huskies (0-1), the game played at Soldier Field felt like a home game for Iowa (1-0) as the capacity crowd was mostly made up of Hawkeye fans.

Tailbacks Albert Young and Damian Sims had huge games for the Hawkeyes. Young gained 182 yards in the ground with two touchdowns. fellow senior Sims added 181 rushing yeards and also hit paydirt twice. Sophomore Quarterback Jake Christensen showed a great deal of poise while passing for 15 of 23 for 215 yards and two touchdown passes.

Senior Defensive End Bryan Mattison led a relentless Hawkeye defense with eight tackles, four of which were sacks. NIU quarterback Dan Nicholson was sacked a total of twelve times.

Iowa's next game will be the home opener against Syracuse. Kickoff is at 3:00 pm at Kinnick Stadium. The game will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
