Re: Aztec Pride - A San Diego State Dynasty
FCS Northwest (0-0) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (1-1)
Qualcomm Stadium
San Diego, California
Saturday Sept, 22, 2007
San Diego, CA – Two outta Three aint bad! San Diego State improved to 2-1 on the season with a punishing 77-14 Victory over FCS Northwest and now looks to improve to 3-1 against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
San Diego obliterated FCS straight outta the gates as Brett Swain returned the opening kickoff 84 Yards for a Touchdown and that’s when the flood gates opened, Kevin O’Connell made up for his poor showing last week with 3 first half Touchdown passes and Atiyyah Henderson added 3 second half Rushing Touchdowns to tie for the team lead.
FCS Northwest never looked like scoring in the first half and had it not been for some poor ball control that allowed FCS to get some points on the board late in the game.
Kevin O’Connell passed for a season high 235 Yards and 4 Touchdowns on 10-13 passing, all be it against a very lousy pass defense and Atiyyah Henderson made a strong push for a starting role with a season high 14 carry 105 Yard 3 Touchdown performance. Lance Louis continued his great start to the season with a 2 Touchdown day and Ray Bass scored the Aztecs first defensive Touchdown of the season with a 34 Yard Interception return.
San Diego State host Cincinnati this week and once again there will be a few interested recruits in attendance.

Cincinnati Bearcats (2-2) vs. San Diego State Aztecs (2-1)
Qualcomm Stadium
San Diego, California
Saturday Sept, 29, 2007
San Diego, CA – All Hail the Kicker! San Diego State improved to 3-1 on the season thanks to a clutch kick from Garret Palmer in the final seconds to steal a nail biting victory from the Cincinnati Bearcats.
San Diego looked slow and sluggish in the 1st Quarter and Kevin O’Connell threw away the Aztecs only scoring opportunity when he threw a poor pass that was picked off 2 Yards deep in the endzone. San Diego finally got on the board in the 2nd Quarter thanks to a Touchdown by Atiyyah Henderson and then a Touchdown run from former starter Brandon Bornes in the 3rd that put the Aztecs back in front.
Cincinnati scored in the 1st Quarter thanks to a 1 yard Touchdown run from Greg Moore but they never looked like scoring again in the half and it wasn’t until the 4th Quarter that they would once again find the Endzone and that is what would eventually cost them. Dustin Grutza looked like throwing the potential game winner in the 4th only to have the pass sail over his intended receivers head.
Kevin O’Connell nearly matched his season high with 233 Yards passing and a Touchdown, but once again he turned the ball over as he has all season. Atiyyah Henderson had a nice game, his 1st as a starter but it was former starter Brandon Bourns who found the endzone more then once.
Dustin Grutza connected on 17 off 25 for 210 Yards and a Touchdown, but his only blemish on the game also turned out to be a big turning point. Greg Moore rushed for 70 Yards and a 1st Quarter Touchdown but it wasn’t enough as the Bearcats fell 27-24.
San Diego State travel to Colorado to face off against the Colorado State Rams.

Re: Aztec Pride - A San Diego State Dynasty
If you do not have the time or willpower to do top 25 every week (Like me!), then you do not have to. Maybe a top 25 and stat leaders every four games would be nice, though. Just do not to more than you want to, because then doing these dynasties will become a chore and that's not good. I was doing weekly top 25 recaps, but it became a chore for me and I grew tired of it. I stopped doing them and now I am enjoying reporting that much more. I'm liking this dynasty!Comment
