Week 6- Marshall Thundering Herd (2-2) @ Memphis Tigers (2-2)

    Marshall 10 7 10 229
    Memphis 213 70 22

It was a very close game throughout, but we pulled away in the end to seal the victory. 2 safeties were made in the game, the last being the final points of the game. We played pretty well considering we were playing in Memphis and the crowd was against us.

I have been playing with Marshall recently as well, and Chubb Small is a monster in this game.

Yeah, he's been great in every game other than the Cincinnati game, in which he struggled. Bernie Morris has been playing well too. I think we may have a chance at winning Conference USA if we keep it up.

Wow, I thought we had this game sealed up when we went ahead by 13 late in the 4th, but Tulsa scored 2 touchdowns, the final being Tulsa's quarterback running into the endzone from 2 yards out with time expiring for the game-winning touchdown. What a downer!

Thanks. I was mad when I accidentally deleted my Uconn/Idaho dynasty, but this has been fun too. I actually used to live about 30 minutes away from Marshall about 6 months ago before I moved to North Carolina. Most of Marshall's games were on TV, so I watched their games a lot.

Yeah, that Tulsa loss was frustrating! Marshall cannot play defense whatsoever! Everytime Tulsa touched the ball, it seemed like it was a 1st down, very frustrating, but fun. Our offense has played great, but our defense, not so much.

Another great game. We struggled running the ball today, but barely got the win. We got the ball back with 46 seconds left and Bernie Morris led us on a Byron Leftwich-esque drive, working the sidelines and completing passes. With 3 seconds left, we sat on the 19 yard line when I called an out-post pattern and super tight end Cody Slate caught it at the 5 yard line and ran it in for the game-winning touchdown! We improve to 4-3 (2-1).

We played well through the 3rd quarter, then Bernie Morris threw 5 interceptions in the 4th to give away the ballgame. In the 1st quarter, Marshall's superb runningback, Chub Small, was injured and will not play again for another 2 weeks. The injury showed on the box score as Marshall only rushed for 24 yards on 23 carries. Marshall falls to 2-2 in Conference USA play and 4-4 overall.

Yeah, I've had three very close games in a row. I can't complain about lack of excitement, that's for sure! Unfortunately, I lost 2 of them, but after all, it's Marshall.

.500 overall and in conference play is pretty good so far with Randy Moss's alma mater.

Bernie Morris is doing a really good job slinging the ball around. Unfortunately, your defense is like swiss cheese (lots of holes). It looks like that might be priority 1 on the recruiting list.

Good luck the rest of the season.

Thanks! I was hoping to at least make a bowl game this season and that seems like a real possibility.

Bernie Morris is reminding me of Marshall's great quarterbacks of the past (Byron Leftwich, Chad Pennington), except for the last 5 interception game. Cody Slate, our sophomore tight end, is also doing well. We also have senior WR Marcus Fitzgerald, who happens to be Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgererald's younger brother.
