With as a talented a squad as ever, new manager Carlos Strong expects a First Place finish. He's a realist however and knows the competition for the top spot in the EPL will be firece. With a budget higher than some 3rd world countries, Chlesea needs to win now.

    SHOOTOUT ENSUES @ OLD TRATFORD
    Manchester United 5- Chelsea 3

Chelsea started the 2007-2008 campaign up against their rivals Manchester United in front of a fired-up crowd for the FA Cup Final. Chelsea would silence the crowd temporarily behind a Didier Drogba header 10 minutes into the match. Not the one to be shown up, Wayne Rooney notched his 1st goal of the year off a beautiful cross from Ronaldo to tie the match at 1-1. Shaun Wright-Phillips would then answer back with a stike just outside the box to put the Blues back up 2-1. The score would remain that way until Wayne Rooney netted not 1, but 2 goals in the 45th minute to give Man U the 3-2 lead going into the break despite being marked by DF John Terry.

John Terry would stick to Rooney like a glove in the 2nd half and despite Drogba's 2nd goal on the day Manchester United would beat Chelsea GK Peter Cech 2 more times off the feet of Ronaldo & Ryan Giggs.

Man of the Match-Wayne Rooney 3 goals

CHELSEA STARTS OFF PREMIERSHIP RUN RIGHT
      Chelsea 2 - Sunderland 1

Chelsea began the 2007-2008 Premiership with one goal in mind, a place at the top. They would take a baby-step closer to this goal today beating Sunderland 2-1 in front of the hometown crazies.

Didier Drogba would net his 3rd goal this season and Frank Lampard would chip in his 1st of the campaign to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead before the half. Sunderland would notch a goal from Michael Chopra to cut the lead to 2-1 but the Blues were never really troubled. It was a good start for Chelsea because the Gunners come to town next week.

Man of the Match- Didier Drogba (1 goal)

      Scoring
      '04-Drogba

Looking good, I'm jealous that you can upload videos to EASportsWorld, it doesn't seem to work for me.

Drogba is disgusting in FIFA, last year I used Chelsea and I averaged a goal a game with Drogba. :y4:

EDUARDO SALVAGES POINTS FOR THE GUNNERS
          Chelsea 2 - Arsenal 2

Chelsea came into this match looking to establish themselves as the best team in the EPL. For 88 minutes they sure looked like the part. An early goal by Shaun Wright-Phillips off a Frank Lampard deflection put the Blues up 1. Arsenal would respond and silence the crowd behind an Eduardo header that found the top shelf.

New acquisition Frank Malouda would put forth a fine effort in beating Arsenal DF Kolo Toure and putting the Blues back ahead.

Everything was on its way to looking like a 2-1 win for Chelsea when Eduardo beat Wayne Bridge who had been subbed in for an injured Juliano Belletti. His 2nd goal with 2 mins left to go in OT stole 2 points away from the Blues who's fans were noticeably dissapointed.

Man of the Match-Eduardo da Silva 2 goals

EASportsworld seems to work pretty well now for me...I usually get on it pretty late so maybe there is less traffic. You can only keep 5 goals on there so I have to keep deleting vids and storing them on Brightcove. The quality on Brightcove is fantastic.

THE 'SHIRE ISN'T READY TO BANG WITH THE BIG BOYS
                Chelsea 2 - Derby County 1

The Blues have a certain swagger to them in this young season. Despite rumors of a possible transfer to Stuggart, Joe Cole proved he is worth holding onto for the time being. After barely seeing the pitch in the teams first 3 matches, Joe Cole would net his first goal of the season to spark Chelsea to 2-1 win over Derby County.

This match was never in doubt as Chelsea would take a 2-0 lead behind Cole & Shvenchenko first half goals. Derby would score late on a goal from Steve Howard to make the match look closer than it really was.

Chelsea manager Carlos Strong was a little dissapointed in his late game defense. This was the 4th game in a row where the oppoing club has scored after the 80th minute. They need to a better job of closing out matches evidenced by the late game goal surrended vs Arsenal's Eduardo da Silva

PETER CECH SAVES THE DAY LITERALLY
                  Chelsea 4 - Aston Villa 2 PK's

Chelsea started off this game fast with FW Didier Drogba gettin a goal 4 mins into the game. He is on pace for another stellar season barring injury. Aston Villa responded in the 28th minute on a header top shelf by John Carew.

Chelsea manager Carlos Strong made a huge tactical mistake by not checking his starters fatigue levels pre-game resulting in an unprecedented 3 substitutions before halftime. Super striker Didier Drogba, speedster Shaun Wright-Phillips, and MF Michael Eissien were all sub'd out early.

The 2nd half showed how EPL defense is supposed to be played. John Terry battled extreme fatigue to build a brick wall on the back line for the Blues used a rarely seen slower pace to go along with calculated risks when building attacks.

Both teams headed into the 1st Extra Period weary. The winner was going to be a true testament to match fitness. Despite another tight fought 15 mins the 2nd ET saw a mid-field slugfest as both teams battled for possession.

Aston Villa would battle off their own fatigue issues and send this game into PK where depleted squads would decide who was moving on to round 3.

Chelsea sent out a PK lineup of: AV countered with:

                  Svenchenko Barry
                  Joe Cole Maloney
                  Michael Ballack Carew
                  Frank Lampard Young
                  John Obi Mikel Harewood

Svenchenk & Barry would calmy sink the frist 2 shots followed up by Cole & Maloney both hitting well-placed shots.

Pete Cech would make a huge save and get his hand on John Carew's PK. Michael Ballack would step up and chip a shot past a diving Thomas Sorensen.

Up next for AV was Ashley Young who would aim for the bottom-right corner only to find Peter Cech's diving hand in the way.

As cheers of "FAT FRANK" erupted from the crown the un-nerved Frank Lampard would step up to the plate and deliver a bullett past Sorensen's diving body to give Chelsea the 4-2 win on PKs.

                  Man of the Match-Peter Cech

                  Scoring
                  '04-Drogba
                  '28 Carew
                  'PK-Barry
                  'PK-Svenchenko
                  'PK-Maloney
                  'PK-Joe Cole
                  'PK-Ballack

ASTON VILLA GETS THEIR SWEET REVENGE
                    Aston Villa 1 - Chelsea 0

Chelsea started off this game in full out attack mode. Manager Carlos Strong switched up his attack by inserting Svenchenko into the starting 11 and moved newly aquired LW Malouda to his proper position.

Too bad it was unable to produce any goals. Chelsea manager Carlos Strong was visibly upset as his players. Super striker Didier Drogba, speedster Shaun Wright-Phillips, and Svenchenklo all had chances at goals but came up with blanks.

The 2nd half was another 45mins of struggle as the Blues were blanked for the first time this season. The defense surrended its 3rd goal of the year to striker John Carew. All in all, a horrilbe performance for Chelsea.

LIVERPOOL TOPS CHELSEA IN BATTLE OF TOP TEAMS
                      Liverpool 2 - Chelsea 1

Chelsea entered this match with alot to prove on this young season. Liverpool was looking to validate their current place atop the EPL standings.

The first half would go back and forth as Carlos Strong reverted back to his traditional lineup. At the end of the 1st half LB Ashley Cole made a huge mistake in not clearing the ball resulting in Steven Gerrard blasting a shot towards Peter Cech which he deflected right into the boots of Fernando Torres who handled it and scored on a putback.

In the 2nd half, Chelsea would respond with a putback goal of their own by striker Didier Drogba. The match went back & forth and looked like it was destined for a draw when Fabio Aurelio beat Carvahillo and got off a cross inside the box past a missed header by Frank Lampard to the boot of Fernando Torres for his 2nd goal of the match. Ashley Cole failed to put a body on Torres as he crept into the box and found a prime piece of real estate. Not a good performance at all for Ashley Cole.

                      Man of the Match-Fernando Torres

                      Scoring
                      '35-Torres

OWNER IS NOT HAPPY WITH TEAM'S PERFORMANCE

Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea F.C. is not pleased at all with the team's perfomance. There have even been rumblings from the top about a possible dismissal of manager Carlos Strong.

Abramovich is unhappy with the teams inability to beat top-tier teams such as Arsenal, Man U, & Liverpool. "We have constructed this team to win a title, anything less would be cause for concern." said Roman. While only managing to get 1pt combined against Arsenal & Liverpool as well as losing in the Community Shield title game against Man U, Chelsea has looked like a team that was just thrown together. Chemistry issues and as of late, the lack of goals, have helped turn up the pressure on Coach Strong.

An email from the Board of Directors was sent to Strong basically stating that the team must step their game up or else they could be looking to move in another direction.

Chelsea faces Fulham next. Anything less than a 2-0 win would be just cause for dismissal.

*Unless I start winning I really think I am gonna get canned. Giving up all these goals late has really killed my standing in the league table. I need to do a better job of capitalizing on scoring opportunities and clearing the ball out of the box on defense.
