Reading entered this match in 2nd place and hoped to continue its torrid league pace. They only managed 1 goal in the 75th minute off the foot of Leroy Lita.

LOL...i know...I checked their fixtures and they had a fairly easy opening schedule but had something like Chelsea(me), Aresnal, Man U scheduled all in a row

After looking at the table last night Man U is now in 2nd behind Arsenal....Arsenal has set a torrid pace...i think they are something like 10 points up on Man U

                    thanx

They have now dropped down to 4th after losing to all 3...Arsenal is on fire though...like 10-12 pts up on 2nd place Man U

                      I gotta play catch up

                        CHELSEA CONTINUES HOT STREAK
                        Chelsea 4 - Newcastle 2

Chelsea continues to rise in the league table thanks to performances like this one. Manager Strong decided to rest starters Drogba, Lampard, Wright Phillips & Essien in favor of Svenchenko, Steve Sidwell, Joe Cole & Claude Makelele.

What did those newly inserted players do?

                        Simple, THEY DOMINATED.

Steve Sidwell struck 2 minutes into the match. Svenchenko followed that up 2 minutes later with a goal of his own. Before Birmingham knew what it hit 'em it was 2-0. In the 40th minute Svenchenko scored again to extend the lead to 3-0.

Birmingham did counter with 2 goals in the 54th & 56th minutes but RW Joe Cole was taken down in the box and reserve MF Claude Makalele knocked in the PK to push the lead to 4-2.

Alex and john Terry would make sure there were no late game heroics this afternoon shutting down the BC attack

                        Man of the Match- Svenchenko

                          CHELSEA STREAKS ON
                          Chelsea 3 - Middlesborough 1

Like Will Ferrell in Old School, the Blues just kept streaking.

Frank Lampard netted 2 goals and Shaun Wright Phillips added another as Chelsea won 3-1.

Middlesborough got on the board due to an own goal by CB Belletti who was trying to save a ball going into the goal but managed to tap it in by mistake.

                            CHELSEA SQUARES OFF WITH MANU
                            Chelsea 1 - Man U 1

The Blues came into this match on a hot streak and playing very confidently. They would need to bring their A game if they wanted a chance at points against Manchester United.

Last time these 2 teams met a total of 8 goals were scored, 5 of them by hated foe Man U. This game saw a mid-field struggle in the first half resulting in a 0-0 game after 45mins

Up from his normal defensive positioning in the back Michael Essien scored a goal of a Frank Lampard header in the 52nd minute. Man U MF Ryan Giggs would respond in almost identical fashion 3 minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1. Both defenses held strong for the remainder of the match and Chelsea was able to walk away with 1 pt despite blowing a brief lead.

The Blues sacraficed a little offense in order to get back and stop Christiano Ronaldo on the wing. Alex closely marked Wayne Rooney (who netted a hat trick last time we met) and made him a non-factor. John Terry kept an eye on Tevez and the Blues played well defensively.

                            Man of the Match- Alex

CHELSEA PUSHES FORWARD IN LEAGUE CUP
                              Chelsea 1 - Birmingham City 0

After handling BC not too long Coach Strong played his key reserves for this pivotal match, "Y not, you saw how they performed last time they were out there" said Strong.

The Blues used some timely saves and a late goal by Didier Drogba to advance to play Arsenal next round. Drogba came on for relief for an ineffective Svenchenko and netted a header off a Joe Cool run then cross in the 79th minute.

Peter Cech came up time & time again with great saves to preserve the hard fought win.

With Arsenal looming, Chelsea knows that 1 goal will most likely not get it done.

                                MALOUDA & CECH HEROES
                                Chelsea 1 - Portsmouth 0

Peter Cech notched his 2nd clean sheet in a row and LW Florent Malouda scored on this wonderful run in the 60th minute to give Chelsea 3 more points.

Chelsea continues its upward climb in the EPL with another 3 pts today. For a team that was once in 14th place, things are looking better. ( I will have a league table up soon guys to give you a perspective on where I stand).

"For a team with our kind of budget things like this are EXPECTED. Our horrible start in the league will be hard to overcome but thankfully we have the talent to do so" said Coach Strong
