Opening season depth chart:

9/12 article
The Chicago Bears 2009 campaign opens on 9/13 at Soldier Field against the Minnesota Vikings. In 2007 the season started with Rex Grossman and ended with Brian Griese and a NFC Championship loss to the Washington Redskins. The 2008 season started with Chris Leak and ended with Colt McCoy and a 6-10 season.
The 2009 season will start with Matt Schaub. Schaub was acquired in the off-season from the Houston Texans via trade. After leading the Houston Texans to a 8-8 record, Matt Schaub lost his starting job to rookie Brian Brohm the following season. Brohm led the Houston Texans to their first playoff birth before a exit to the New England Patriots. A couple months later the Chicago Bears acquired Matt Schaub.
As soon as the trade happened, Schaub was confirmed starter in the 2009 season. However, all that changed in the 2nd round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In the first round Bears picked their man Steve Slanton. In the second round was top 10 pick Stephen McGee and no way would the Bears pass up on McGee. McGee impressed in the pre-season going for 675 yards and 9 touchdowns and 1 interception in four games. Schaub on the other hand went for 531 yards and 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in four games. However the Bears coaching staff have decided to go with the experienced Matt Schaub over Stephen McGee to start the season. "Matt Schaub is our starting quarterback at this time." Lovie Smith
In other quarterback news is the return of Rex Grossman to Soldier Field, but this time as starter of the Minnesota Vikings. Rex Grossman was signed to a three contract in the off-season and the Vikings are hoping he can squeeze out a victory against his former team.
Kick off time is 1:00 EST at Chicago.
Other news:
Steve Slanton was confirmed starter but after a terrific pre-season by Garret Wolfe (342 yards/6 TDs), Wolfe will get more carries then believed five weeks ago.
