"38 seconds left, Illinois at the 5. A FG ties it, a TD wins it. Here's the snap, WILLIAMS ON THE SNEAK, IS HE IN? REFS LOOKING AT EACH OTHER....YES HE'S IN, WILLIAMS SCORES! OH MY GOODNESS AND THE ILLINI LEAD! Williams is hurt though, and this looks serious. Juice Williams just scored the potential game winning TD and may have a serious injury as result."

"2 seconds, Wisconsin has one last shot. Here we go Donovan drops back. Has time with the pass rush. He'll heave it up and it is KNOCKED DOWN! KNOCKED DOWN! GAME OVER! ILLINI WIN! THE ILLINI HAVE KNOCKED OFF THE NUMBER THREE TEAM IN THE NATION!"

Wild Game, Wild End, Major Upset

      Illinois 63 (6-0) (3-0), #3 Wisconsin 59 (5-1) (2-1)

CHAMPAIGN, IL- College football has seen many crazy games, but this one ranks right up there with the craziest. Not much more you could ask for. 122 points, a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, 50 combined 4th quarter points, 1232 yards of total offense, Donovan with over 500 passing yards, Williams just 5 yards away from 300 passing and 100 rushing, and the starting QB getting injured on the game winning play. This game had it all, well except for defense.

Illinois had no answer for the Tyler Donovan/PJ Hill show. Wisconsin jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Illinois managed to work their way back in after a huge pass to Kyle Hudson for a TD, and Mendenhall going untouched for 69 yards. From then on through the 3rd quarter it was a slugfest, but with Wisconsin leading 45-27 going into the final frame, little did everyone know the gloves were just now about to come off.

Illinois struck for an early 4th quarter TD and collected on the 2 point try to push within 10. However, Wisconsin pulled back up to 17 with a TD drive of their own. Then the fun began, with 5:14 left Illini kick returner Will Judson took the kick back 90 yards for a TD. After finally pulling a stop the Illini got another TD after a 34 yard pass play to an open Marques Wilkins who was wide open down the middle of the field. The next Wisconsin drive a pass was cut off by Vontae Davis and he made an amazing move on PJ Hill to get to the endzone. We're not done yet though. Wisconsin down 4 quickly hit a 75 yard pass play to their stud TE Andy Crooks to retake the lead again. However, Illinois drove right back down the field and Juice Williams put in the game winner with 34 seconds left which ended the game and possibly Juice Williams season with a 10 week abdominal tear injury.

Coach Mario Black said he was proud of the way his offense kept fighting even though they were down by 18 in the 4th. Coach Brown said the defense was something that was a serious problem, and the Iowa game must show improvement.

Next the most likely newly ranked Illini will travel to the most boring state in the nation Iowa to play the Hawkeyes.

Illini Stifle Iowa Comeback in OT

          Illinois 34 (7-0) (4-0), Iowa 31 (4-2) (1-2) OT

IOWA CITY, IA- The Illini had only one offensive TD all game, but they still managed to pull a big win over the Hawkeyes. Trailing by 14 late in the 4th quarter, Iowa managed to hit a big 35 yard TD pass to Damien Sims, then managed to get the ball back and score once more with 40 seconds to go. They converted two 4th downs on the final drive to force the tie and send the game to OT.

In the OT period, Iowa faced an early 3rd down. Kevin Mitchell undercut the Nelson throw to give the Illini a shot to win. After converting a first down, the Illini lined up the ball and managed to get the ball to the 14 yard line. From there Reda knocked one right down the middle to put the Illini at an amazing 7-0 and 4-0 in conference play.

Key plays during the game were the two pick sixes from the Iowa secondary Dere Hicks had a 90 yard INT return in the first quarter to tie the game at 7, and Vontae Davis had a huge INT with Iowa backed up toward their own goal line in the 3rd quarter. Also right before the half Will Judson got a 76 yard punt return to give Illinois the lead.

Billy Garza was fairly unimpressive in the Illini win. He didn't make mistakes passing which was the key for the Illini in this game. His one INT came on a end of half hail mary. That happened to be the only Illini turnover of the game. Also, Rashard Mendenhall got injured in the 2nd quarter after putting up huge numbers on the ground. Unfortunately, his brother Walter was very unimpressive in backup. Rashard will be back next week.

Up next the Illini travel to the friendly confides to face off against Big Blue themselves. The schedule right now features 2 tough games against Michigan and Ohio State, and 2 should be wins with Minnesota and Northwestern. If the Illini can win 3/4 of those (not including the Ball State game), they could be in line for a Rose Bowl trip.

                  Glory Run Ended in Blowout

                  #5 Michigan 69 (7-1) (3-1), #21 Illinois 49 (7-1) (4-1)

CHAMPAIGN, IL- The Illini know they needed this one to give themselves a very good shot at the Rose Bowl. Now they need some help. Michigan came out firing and Illinois had no answer. Down 41-13 at the half, the outcome already seemed like it was set in stone. The Illini had one spurt, but Michigan still pulled to a 36 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Henne, Hart, and Manningham as expected pulled out huge games. Henne had 476 passing yards and 6 touchdowns, 3 of them to Manningham who had over 100 yards receiving. Hart ran through the Illini D for 180 yards and 2 TDs. Hart averaged 7.2 yards a carry.

Garza stuggled big time. Three interceptions and 3 fumbles didn't help his 300 yard game. Mendenhall had a great game with 137 yards on the ground and a TD. However, the turnovers ended up doing the Illini in.

Illinois will have to bounce back with a home game against Ball State. This opens up what should be an easy warm up with them and Minnesota before traveling to Columbus.

Next season I'll change up a few things, probably drop a minute off the game, and change the sliders. I don't like doing it in the middle of a season.

                      #20 Illinois 54 (8-1) (4-1), Ball State 34 (3-6)

CHAMPAIGN, IL- Rashard Mendenhall may be looking at Doak Walker considerations now. Over 250 all purpose yards, 5 touchdowns, and total domination of the game. Mendhenhall did indeed keep Ball State focused on next season instead of a major upset. Rashard also broke the single season school record of 15 TDs, with his 16th and 17th trips to the orange grass.

Other than Mendenhall the game was nothing to write home about. Both teams traded TDs throughout the second half. Illinois played fairly lazy on D, and it kept Ball State in it for a little while, however, they never cut within 13 points.

The Illini open up conference play once again as they travel up to the Metrodome and take on the Golden Gophers.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN- The dream season, the Rose Bowl, and all the greatness that went into this great run just got shot down by the Gophers offense. Coach Mario Black was livid after the game saying, "IF WE CAN'T STOP THE ****IN PASS, WE'RE NOT GONNA WIN ANY GAMES! THAT WAS A HORSE**** PERFORMANCE! I AM TOTALLY EMBARRASSED FOR THIS TEAM!" Giving up 467 yards and 6 TDs through the air killed the Illini, and sent their season into recovery mode.

The Illini had a shot at the end too. They managed to get a pick while down 14 with about 4 minutes to go, but they fumbled the ball away. They got it down to the goal line with a 4th down and 50 seconds left, but Garza threw a pick. The Illini just couldn't come near capitalizing on their chances.

Illinois schedule doesn't get any easier as they have to face the 14th ranked Buckeyes in Columbus next week.

Holy crap. I had a little problem there to say the least. Sorry about that. I wasn't getting my message through, and I tried quite a few times, I didn't realize once my messages would come through that it would happen for every time I clicked the submit reply button.

So try to disregard all that junk in the middle.
