          Ricky Nolasco Takes A Lickin'

The Mets take it to Ricky Nolasco, scoring 5 runs off him in their victory.

Playing under the lights on the road was no problem for the Mets, as the final score against the Marlins was 6-1 before a crowd of 28,577 fans at Dolphin Stadium. Pedro Martinez punched out 11 hitters in picking up his 1st win of the season, allowing 1 run and 5 hits. David Wright collected 2 hits - including a home run - and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats to spur the offense.

The two teams wrap up the series tonight at Dolphin Stadium, with the the probable starters being Oliver Perez for the Mets and Andrew Miller for the Marlins.

            Yankees Get Key Divisional Win

Yankees win against AL East rival Blue Jays.

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 8-5 in an AL East showdown last night, going extra innings before eventually winning in 12 at Yankee Stadium. Alex Rodriguez provided the offense, collecting 3 hits - including a home run - and 4 RBI's. Kyle Farnsworth snared the victory (his 2nd of the season) in extra frames, firing 4 innings of relief and allowing no runs on 2 hits.

The Yankees start a new series in New York tonight, sending Ian Kennedy to the mound against the Rays and Edwin Jackson.

Thanks for entering my domain. The PS3 and "The Show" have gotten me so hooked that I stopped playing NHL 08 and NBA 2K8 on my 360. I'm going to wait for Madden on the 360 and keep playing this great game.

                  It is a terrific game.

It looks like your Metropolitans are going to need an influx of youth pretty soon. Most of the club looks to be heading into, or are into, the twilight of their careers.

                      Blue Jays Bullpen Struggles

Red Sox take advantage of Blue Jay's shaky bullpen, pick up win.

Playing at night and on the road, the Red Sox secured a 4-2 win against the Blue Jay's in front of 50,516 fans in Toronto. Leading the charge offensively was Jacoby Ellsbury, who went 2-4 and knocked in 3 runs. It was a solid start for Josh Beckett, who went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, to pick up his 1st win of the season.

The series continues with a day game this afternoon, as the visiting Red Sox give the ball to Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-0, 1.50), who will be opposed by the Blue Jay's Jesse Litsch (0-0, 0.00).

In Key Divisional Contest, Cardinals Prevail

Houston falls to St. Louis in match-up of NL Central opponents.

In front of a hostile crowd at Minute Maid Park last night, the Cardinals humiliated the host Astros 22-3, sending the crowd of 40,950 fans home more bitter than having to acknowledge Missouri as a state. Cesar Izturis was the man offensively, getting 3 hits and 3 rbi to lead the charge. Kyle Lohse allowed 5 hits and 2 runs over 6 innings, and the bullpen was able to close the door to seal his 1st win of the season. Pitcher Russ Springer had to leave early after getting injured (lat muscle strain), as a result, he's day-to-day.

The series resumes tonight at Minute Maid Park, with the visiting Cardinals going with Braden Looper (0-0, 3.00) and the Astros offering Wandy Rodriguez (0-1, 3.59).

                          Up 2-0 And Thinking Sweep

Game 2, like game 1, goes to visiting Dodgers, who lead series 2-0.

On the road at Chase Field, the Dodgers grabbed a narrow 3-2 victory over the Diamondbacks. The offense was paced by Chad Billingsley, who went 2-3 and knocked in 1 run. It was a "quality start" for Chad, who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings, but it was also a no-decision for him, as he was long gone when the game was decided. Working in relief of Chad, Joe Beimel came into a tie game and vultured his 1st win of the season, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs.

The series ends this afternoon, with the Dodgers Hiroki Kuroda (0-0, 3.00) and the Diamondbacks Micah Owings (1-0, 1.17) the probable starters.

Pounding Ervin Santana, who allows 7 runs, the Indians are able to pick up a win.

The Indians defeated the Angels last night by the final score of 9-6, in front of 45,050 fans at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. David Dellucci slugged a home run and drove in 5 runs, going 2-5 at the plate to lead the offense. Paul Byrd went 6 innings to get his 2nd win of the season, with the bullpen giving him an assist in the final three innings.

Tomorrow night the Indians start a 7 game homestand by welcoming the Athletics to Jacob Field, with Cliff Lee (0-0, 1.28) and Joe Blanton (0-0, 2.70) the probable starters.

It was a good night for the host Red Sox, as they out-scored the Tigers 8-3 in front of 36,298 fans at Fenway Park. Manny Ramirez was the big hitter, clubbing a pair of home runs and knocking in 6 runs on the day. Working 6.2 innings, Julian Tavarez was able to get his 2nd win of the season, as he gave up 2 runs and 7 hits in the victory.
