Angels Get Key Divisional Win

Los Angeles pick up AL West win against Seattle.

In a thrashing of the Mariners last night, the final score was 11-1 in favor of the Angels before a crowd of 31,900 fans at Safeco Field. Mike Napoli delivered 4 RBI's and 3 hits to pace the offense. Jon Garland went 7 solid innings to earn his 2nd win of the season, allowing 1 run on 8 hits and striking out 2.


The Angels and Mariners play again tonight at Safeco Field, as Los Angeles sends Jered Weaver (1-1, 5.25) to the mound against Erik Bedard (1-0, 1.58) in game 2 of the series.

Mets Win, Even Series

Mets, Brewers tied after two games as Mets win second game of series in New York.


The Mets delivered a 3-1 win for their fans last night, beating the Brewers in front of 19,115 strong at Shea Stadium. Jose Reyes drove in 2 runs and banged out 3 hits in as many at-bats to lead the offense. Working a solid 7.2 innings while allowing 5 hits and 1 run, Johan Santana was able to notch his 2nd win of the season.


The Mets and Brewers wrap things up this afternoon, with the Mets sending Pedro Martinez (1-0, 6.17) to the hill while Dave Bush (1-1, 8.70) will toe the rubber for the visiting Brewers.

In Hard Fought Affair, Yankees Emerge Victorious

Yankees take care of Rays in a tight game.


The Yankees silenced the Tropicana Field crowd last night, beating the Rays 6-5 in a nail-biting AL East contest. Leading the offensive charge was Robinson Cano, who blasted a home run and drove in 3 runs. Ian Kennedy pitched the first 6.2 innings, allowing 5 runs and 7 hits to pick up the win.


In tonight's series finale, Ross Ohlendorf (0-1, 8.67) will start for the Yankees against J.P. Howell (0-1, 17.47) and the Rays.

Hitting Display Earns The Win

Cubs rout visiting Reds to pick up a win.

A crowd of 45,936 fans saw the hometown Cubs get a win over the Reds, a 9-3 decision that went the Cubs way. Kosuke Fukudome provided the big hits, driving in 3 runs and going 2-for-5 in the game. Rich Hill picked up his 2nd win of the season, going 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits.


The series resumes tonight at Wrigley Field, with the Cubs' Jason Marquis (0-0, 11.57) and the Reds' Edinson Volquez (2-0, 4.37) set as the probable starting pitchers. Felix Pie hopes to add to his 11 game hitting streak.

Nationals Win, Even Series

Nationals defeat Mets in New York, tying their series at 1-1.


The visiting Nationals took care of the Mets 10-5 last night, with 22,013 fans on hand at Shea Stadium. Paul Lo Duca ignited the offense with 3 hits - including a solo home run in 5 at bats. Joel Hanrahan gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings and was the winning pitcher. Pitcher Joe Smith had to be taken out early (head concussion), an injury that is going to cost him 1-2 weeks.

In tonight's series finale, Odalis Perez (0-2, 5.52) will start for the Nationals against Mike Pelfrey (0-1, 6.23) and the Mets.

Seeing the number in attendance at the game against the Nationals, you're drawing only slightly better than I am in Cincinnati.

You are only a game behind in the standings, and tied in the all important loss column, so you are in good shape so far in the early going.

don, thanks for the reply in my thread. Still keeping pace with Atlanta which is good but I need some home runs from my guns. Angel Pagan hit his first last game, a winning 3 run homer.

Rangers Drop Ace Right - Hander

Roy Halladay takes loss in Rangers win.


The Rangers were able to win on the road last night, beating the Blue Jays 4-3 in front of 28,384 fans at Rogers Centre. Hank Blaylock went 2-3 and knocked in 2 runs for the winning club. The victory went to Dustin Nippert, who came into a tie game and worked 2.1 innings in relief of Kason Gabbard to snare his 1st win of the season.


The Rangers go to Boston to start a new series with the Red Sox, with Kevin Millwood (2-2, 1.86) set to take on Jon Lester (0-3, 5.74) under the lights at Fenway Park.

Ordonez Picks Up RBI Number 1,000

In his team's loss, Magglio Ordonez delivers rbi number 1,000.

Last night's game at Rogers Centre ended in a 6-2 victory for the Blue Jay's, as the Tigers simply weren't able to catch up. Going 3-4 and driving in 2 runs, Vernon Wells was the catalyst offensively. A.J. Burnett was the starter, allowing 2 runs and 8 hits in 6 innings, but he didn't factor into the decision (though he did collect his 1st quality start of the season). Coming in with the game tied Brian Wolfe picked up his 1st win of the season - in relief of starter A.J. Burnett - working 1 inning and giving up no runs on 1 hit.


The Blue Jays and Tigers play again today, with Dustin McGowan (1-0, 6.61) and Dontrelle Willis (1-1, 3.37) the scheduled starters.
