2003 Season has begun for the Oakland A's. Line-ups and Rotation as well as bench and bullpen are up next and look forward to monthly wrap ups. Should be a great season and hopefully will end with some jewelry.

            Opening Day

Oakland Starts off the year with a 3 game series against a tough division opponent in the Seattle Mariners.

3/25-Game 1-Seatlle Mariners vs Oakland Athletics

            Seattle-6
            Oakland-7 10 innings

            WP-Halama (1-0)
            LP-Sasaki (0-1)
            HR-Ward (1)

            Game Log
The Mariners had the game in control when they took a 6-4 lead in the top of the 6th. The A's down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth, decide to pinch hit for the CF Corey Patterson with OF Daryle Ward. Ward, his first plate appearence of the season, nails a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall. Mike Cameron made a huge effort by jumping at the wall but came up a bit to short and that gave the A's a tie going into extra innings. The Mariners were held hitless in the top of the 10th and were forced to try and hault the surging A's. With 2 outs and men at first and second, Jermaine Dye hit a bloop single into center field that scored Eric Chavez and the A's win on Opening day.

Ummm, odds are you will mock me for this one but I am confused about what BP means when you were talking about your trades. I dont own the game and was wondering what it means. Thanks keep playing and posting.

I don't own the game either but I assume it means baseball points as all MLB games use the points system.

In WSB BP is a Budget Point. Basically it is the currency in this game. I dont know how the other games do it but I hope this helps

Michael Hertlein and Eric Chavez gave the A's and early lead with 2 HR early. But the A's had nothing left after that as the Mariners scored 4 runs in the 7th & 8th innings. Sasaki closed the door in the 9th to preserve the first win for the Mariners in the 2003 season.

                            Game Log
The A's never looked back as an early 3 run lead was all it would take to defeat the Mariners for their second win of the season. Tim Hudson picthed 7 2/3 innings only allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Foulke came in for his frist save opportunity of the season and earned his first save of the year.

Oakland came out strong scoring 5 runs in the first 5 innings of play. Matt Clement over came giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in the 2nd innings and ended up going 8 1/3 allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 7 K's. Oakland improves to 3-1.
