I am a very impatient man. It is amazing I have lasted this long. In any case I have decied to simulate the rest of the season until the last series. A 3 game stint with my arch rival the Seattle Mariners. Well I did that and the A's and the M's were both tied for 1st place in the AL West. This meant that who ever won at least 2 games out of the 3. They would move on to the PLayoffs due to the Boston Red Sox clinching the wild card spot last week.
I then decide to sim the first game, just to put more pressure on myself. We won 3-1. This meant that another win and I would secure a spot in the playoffs. So I decied to sim the 2nd game, and guess what, I LOST!. This meant that the final game of the season, at Safeco Field, would decide the very last playoff spot available in the AL. I decided to play this one. I have had trouble all year long with the M's and saw it as a challenge I couldnt pass up. Here is the game
Inning 1-3
A's pitcher Tim Hudson and M's pitcher Jamie Moyer both are pitching incredible baseball. Both have a no hitter and both have 4K's each.
Inning 4-6
The A's broke out first with a solo shot by Tejada, his 35 of the year. Hudson continued his dominence and still have a no no going.
Inning 7-8
The A's added another run with another solo shot, this time it was Michael Hertlein getting his 46 of the year. The M's were finally getting some hits and broke up Hudson no no in the 7th. The A's then replaced him with Left hander Rincon. He struck out the side. The in the 8th Rincon again strikes out the side. A's are hittless the the bottom half of the inning.
Bottom of the ninth
Foulke comes in to try and get his 39 save of the year and try to avoid his 8 blown save. Foulke gets the first 2 batters to pop out. With 2 outs and the score at 2-0. The A's were sitting pretty. Up tp bat, DH Richie Sexson. Foulke walks him in 6 pitches. Next up John Olerud. Singles to center, men at first and third. Now the heat is on. Ichiro is up and has a chance to hlep his team stay alive. He works the count to 3-2. Foulke gets the sign. Checks the runners and then throws. The pitch....nailed over the left field wall and the M's win, the M's win!!!!!!!!
JK, I struck him out and clinched the last playoff spot. Tim Hudson was the player of the game pitching 7 scoreless innings, giving up 5 hits and fanning 13.
