The Islanders put up a big risk by firing big time Head Coach ted Nolan. The Islanders couldn't find a playoff spot last year. but hope with the addition of Doug Weight, they can find a playoff spot, welll they might be able to? They were the only team in their division not to make the playoffs. Hopefully they'll have a good coach behind the bench.

The Rangers were able to beat cross town err cross river rival New Jersey Devils in the first round of the playoffs. The Rangers were able to do very well in the off-season, adding LW veteran Markus Naslund, but were shocked when RW Captain Jaromir Jagr signed a contract with a team from Russia. Rangers fans were also shocked when tough guy Sean Avery signed a contract with the Dallas Stars. The Rangers are looking for grit and they need to find it...fast!

The New Jersey Devils decided to take the path the Colorado Avalanche are also trying to take, going old school. Devils signed former Devils Bobby Holik and Brian Rolston. The Devils were unable to reason a contract with veteran Devil Sergei Brylin, who left the team this year.

The Senators I'm sure of are going to have a very rough defencive season, with the lost of Wade Redden of the New York Rangers and Andrej Meszaros of the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Senators were able to acquire Alex Auld, Ryan Shannon and Jarkko Ruutu and finally get rid of goalie Ray Emery, who signed a contract with Russia.

The Philadelphia Flyers were just so close to a Stanley Cup berth, but then their city rivals The Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers couldn't hold on the Captain Jason Smith, but in return acquired three players so far in the off-season.

The Coyotes are closing in on their dreams of becoming a playoff team. The Coyotes, with their young guns in Kyle Turris and Peter Mueller and Captain Shane Doan leading his teams to wins and Ilya Bryzgalov between the pipes and The Great One behind the bench. Olli Jokinen will help out the Phoenix Coyotes to become a playoff contender.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were just two wins away from they're 3rd Stanley Cup, but the Red Wings took the Stanley Cup and Nicklas Lidstrom hoisted the Cup in probably jealous Penguins fans. They must have rather it be Sidney Crosby hoisting the Cup infront of Red Wings fans. Pens GM Shero did a rather bad job in re-signing players only managing to re-sign Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury out of the star players. Ryan Malone and even more sad, Marian Hossa left the Penguins.

The Sharks did an amazing job re-signing and even playing last season. They are working on their defencive side, adding Rob Blake from the Los Angeles Kings and Dan Boyle from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Sharks only lost defencemen young gun Matt Carle. Jeremy Roenick has re-signed with the Sharks for another crack for the Stanley Cup.

The Tampa Bay Lightning look like their going to come from last to first with all their new players. Steven Stamkos, the first pick in the first round. With the new goalie Olaf Kolzig in between the pipes, and the likes of Ryan Malone and Mark Recchi join this lightning squad, they are going to do amazing things in the future.
