    Minutemen shock Colonials, win 76-70
Not exactly a good start for D.C. Siembrandt, who began (and ended) his stint as a starter today, scoring 8 points and shooting 3-10. His back-up, Drew Finn, had 12 points. Regardless, the Colonials lost and thats really the only thing that matters. "That was just a bad game. I missed that open three, too, that put the game in the books," Trent Morgan, who led the team with 20 points and 3 blocks, told the press. The three he is referring too was a wide open three from the wing with 28 seconds left and his team down by four. He shot an abysimal 2-8 from three, and he was just already ice cold when he got the shot. Russell Snow and Schafer Alexander had a good performance againt, Snow with 10 points 7 rebounds and a block, Alexander with 12 points and 7 rebounds. "The team has really found a nice balance on the offensive side of the basketball. But when you let teams beat you, all of that doesn't matter. The Colonials really need to play better defense and protect late leads better than they have recently," ESPN reporter Erin Andrews said after the game.

There next game is home against Rhode Island. "We'll bounce back," simply stated Russell Snow.

Costly mental mistakes almost kill Colonials, win 100-97 in overtime
Rhode Island is down by two with two seconds left and is forced to throw up a terrible shot, coming from the hands of shooting guard Andres Collum, the spectacular 85 overall B+ potential sophomore, and it is obvious to everyone in Washington D.C. that the shot was off. In celebration, Schafer Alexander went to add one more rebound to his final total, and misjudged his jump. The ref's whistle blew, and the world stopped. "Goaltending!" was the call that made every single fan boo the name of Schafer, who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Instead of risking any more costly errors, the Colonials just accepted overtime, a very wise decision by coach Pfeffuh. In the overtime, a long three by SF Deng of the Rhode Island team scorched the net, making it a 2 point game. However, Trent Morgan, who had made two consecutive threes with his team down 4 and 1, and scored 25 in the game, answered back with a three of his own. After a good rebound by Russell Snow, who had 11 of those to go with 12 points, made a great out let pass to Joaquim Randle who finished with an enfatic jam to give George Washington a 2 point lead with 3:53 to go. Collum knocked down a mid range jumper over a minute late, and the game was tied again with 2:35 left. Deng drew a foul from three with 1:53 left, and split the free throws with 2 makes and a miss, to put his team up by two. "Costly errors," coach Pfeffuh said. Trent Morgan however, only six seconds later took a wide open three in the corner and knocked it down to give the Colonials a one point lead. The Rhode Island center answered right back with a two, and the Colonials were down one again, 1:26 to play. D.C. Siembrandt, panicking saw a three pointer open up for himself and knocked it down, to put his point total at 25. With 56 seconds left, he stole the ball and made a tough runner, to finish his scoring night at a career high 27, and earning himself the permanent sixth man role. "He plays better off the bench, but he will be playing more than normal too until Finn is off his slump," the coach announced. Finn shot 1-10 on the night scoring a disappointing 2 points. Deng came back up the court and ten seconds later, he got a lay-up putting the deficit for his team to two. The true magic didn't happen until 33 seconds later, with the shot clock expiring, Trent Morgan went up and nailed a contested three to put the nail in the coffin.

The Colonials get a break after their tiring game and return back to action against Charlotte in four days. "At this point, we are very vulnerable," said coach Pfeffuh.

          Conference top 6:
          St. Joe's 8-2, 20-5
          George Washington 7-2, 16-5
          Xavier 7-3, 13-7
          Richmond 6-3, 12-12
          Charlotte 6-4, 15-7
          St. Louis 6-4, 14-9

          RPI's: 5, 24, 28, 131, 50, 94 (Respectively)
Three NT locks and a bubble, not bad at all. La Salle and Duquense are also in NIT shape with RPI's of 66 and 61 respectively.

Yup, typical UMass basketball. It PAINED me to watch their "offense" in the last 4 minutes of the game. A win is a win and we're now 5-1 all-time against defending national champs!

Re: The Coaching Career of Bryan Pfeffuh (CH2k8)

Live from the ESPN Hot Seat: Coach Bryan Pfeffuh
Jim Rome: Hey coach, glad to have you. For those that don't know, Coach Pfeffuh here paces the sidelines in Washington D.C. of the National tournament bound George Washington Colonials. Coach how do you feel about your teams play this season?

Coach: We are not very consistent, to say the least we beat a good team like Notre Dame, but then lose to a not-so good one like UMass. We have been making too many stupid mistakes, and its really been showing. I think we should of beaten each of the last three teams we played by thirty, and we lost one, won one in OT, and won the last by a slim margin.

JR: What do you think of your team's NT chances?

Coach: Right now I'd say we are looking at a 5/6 seed, which are both good draws. The weakness of the rest of our schedule could hurt, but if we can play (and hopefully beat) St. Joe's in the conference tournament, I think we could get a high seed. As for our title chances, we're a young team. We have our top 9 players returning, and we are bringing in a four star. Next year will be a good one.

JR: What about the five star that every other week you announce that you are battling Duke for?

Coach: They won him over, and I don't mind. He was an outstanding player with outstanding potential, but we have decided to go after some other recruits instead. We have only ever recruited one five star successfully, and look how far we've come.

JR: Good point. How do you feel about the the Siembrandt and Finn fight for a starting spot?

Coach: I love the aggression, but I think right now we have to start Finn, because D.C. does better off the bench, and provides a huge spark, and I think that all the turmoil is scaring Finn, and he is too afraid to make a mistake. I am telling everyone right now as I have told my team, Drew Finn will finish out the season as a starter. Next year, nothing is set in stone though.

JR: Thanks for your time. You are now off the Budweiser Hot Seat.

              Coach: Thanks.

Unexpected help revitalizes Colonials, win 78-69
Foul trouble normally hurts teams. Today, Schafer Alexander accumulated two fouls in 33 seconds and was forced to sit down. Senior Ebi Chapman, who has struggled to accept his role as a fourth string big man, got increased minutes because of Alexander's predicament. In his season high 15 minutes (12 minute halves) he scored 12 points and pulled 7 rebounds, both also season highs. "This is why you have seniors. They are savvy, and you can always rely on the to make a play," coach Pfeffuh said of Chapman. Trent Morgan struggled to get his shot going, shooting 7-21, but scoring 18 points, most of them late in the game. Drew Finn had 10 points, but was only a modest 1-4 from three. D.C. Siembrandt provided another high scoring game off then bench, with 14 points and 4 rebounds.

The Colonials RPI stands at 22 now, as they face 59th RPI La Salle on Wednesday. "No matter what their conference record says thats a tough match-up," the Colonials coach said, referring to their abysimal 4-6 record, despite a 12-1 record in non conference.
                -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach Pfeffuh's recruiting corner: "In case you haven't heard, we gave up on Oliphant. We are still battling Georgetown for Varney Nash but he said he hasn't received a letter of intent from them for him to sign. Also, we are now going after 7'0 center Dominique Ricci, a four star, (94th overall, 3rd center), and he is a lot like inch taller Russell Snow."

Finn rediscovers his touch, Colonials win 75-68
A 4-10 shooting night isn't great, not by many standards, anyway, but Drew Finn felt that he had a tremendous game. "If I hadn't took that three near the end, thats 2-5 from 3, which isn't slumping at all. Its nice to be back where I was before," said the 6'9" junior small forward told the media after his twelve point game. Trent Morgan also played extremely well by all standards, shooting 6-11 from the field, 5-7 from three, one of his best three point performances this season. He had 17 points on the night. "After the bad performance I put up against Charlotte, coach said that I should stop driving as much, and let the shots come to me. I shot 3 shots less than normal, and scored the same as my average (17.6)," Morgan said. Joaquim Randle had a high scoring game as well, scoring 12 points, netting 2 of his 3 threes. Russell Snow contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds, while Ebi Chapman and D.C. Siembrandt combined for 12 points and 11 rebounds. "Its so nice to get that kind of contribution off the bench. And the three point shooting today was courtesy of their 2-3 zone, so if you plan on playing that against us, we can shoot," coach Pfeffuh said.

Temple comes to D.C. on Saturday to take on the 18-5 Colonials, as they look to continue this three game winning streak.

After a long break I'm back to doing this (after beating Temple i did that a llong time ago.
                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finn, Morgan, take a back seat in 80-59 win over Fordham
D.C. Siembrandt played spectacularly in this blow out of Fordham, scoring the team high 15 points on 5-10 shooting. Russell Snow and Schafer Alexander also contributed 14 points, and Joaquim Randle chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. "I came in and they told me I had two choices at George Wahington, either start the point but never go back to a SG or watch most of the game from the sideline playing behind Trent. I think that I made the right choice." Coach Pfeffuh was ecstatic over the teams excellent performance. "You don't to always see what role players can do. Hopefully they're as good against Duquense."

Colonials shocked by Duquense, lose 77-84
"We couldn't hit our shots, and they couldn't miss theirs. These are the games where there's really nothing you can do except follow it up with a win the next game," said sophomore sensation Trent Morgan, who had 22 of his career high 35 in the first half. The Colonials role players didn't exactly follow up their prior stellar performance, scoring only 30 points besides Finn and Morgan, including no one with more than six. D.C. Siembrandt was forcing up shots left and right, according to the humbled 6th man small forward. He shot an abysmil 2-11 from the floor. Duquense shot 8-15 from 3 point land thanks to some phenomanal looks from the bigs to the guards. "This is one team I hope we don't have to play again. They are good, real good," said a quiet coach Pfeffuh.

                    National Tournament Spotlight- A10 style
St. Joe's: 5 seed, against South Florida
George Washington: 7 seed, against Boston College
                    Xavier: 8 seed, against UAB

Pfeffuh: I'd be extremely disapointed with a 7 seed, so hopefully Bracketology is wrong. We still have two more weeks to prove ourselves.
