Western Conferance finals: Phoenix Coyotes vs Vancouver Canucks

Game 1 (5/13/09): Tied at 1-1, Steve Bernier rips one past Ilya Bryzgalov off a Vancouver faceoff win to go up 2-1. Deniel Sedin hit on an EN goal to ice the victory for the Canucks at 3-1. Vancouver leads the series 1-0. Luongo made 35 saves. "We just got stone-walled. Luongo is a beast out there. When hes hot hes hot and there nothing you can do. We just have to find a way to beat him, whether it be bad goals or not we just have to do it." - LW Patrick Elias on Roberto Luongo. {Reporter} Ilya, how can youexplain your play tonight? Was it a manifestation of the coaches resting you in the semi-finals? "I just had a bad game. Thats that. Is it because of my rest during last series? Possably. I was hot going into the series against San Jose. They thought I needed a rest. Thats there decision. Do I agree with it? NO. But im a goalie. i want to be out tere every single game. They needed to give Tellst some PT, just in case I got injured or something."

Game 2 (5/15/09): Early in the game, you just knew it wasn't going to go Phoenixs way. In the first, Olli Jokinen hit BOTH goal posts being down 1-0 at that point. Then later in th period, Martin Hanzel clanked one off the post. "I dont know what it was about the posts tonight. Its like the puck our guys were shooting was magnetized to the posts." Then again, this time in the third period, Derek Morris clanks one off the crossbar. "It was ridiculous. We had so many opportunities to score. We just couldnt find the back of the net." The Canucks would go onto win the game at a score of 2-0, which is coincidentally the lead the Canucks have in the series.

Game 3 at Vancouver (5/17/09): Shane Doan skates across the ice about ten feet in front of Luongo and shoots a backhander. But unfortunatly, Luongo has it go off his glove and in the back of the net to put Phoenix up 1-0. But Vancouver would battle back and take the lead. Then Daniel Sedin takes an easy one and puts a shot into the empty net. Vancouver takes game three 3-1 and leads the series 3-0. "The calls against us this series are just plain awful. Its like if we look at a Canuck player, we're going to get called for a penalty. Its just bad out there." - Ed Jovanovski on the penalty calls against his team. Derek Morris had this to say to our reporter in the locker room, "We need to do something. We need to make a roster move to shake things up. Cuz what we have now isn't working."

5/18/09: The Coyotes make a roster move by sending down Todd Fedoruk and calling up another young star in Chris Bourque. GM Bill Board said this concerning the roster move, "Derek was right! We needed to shake things up. I'm hoping Chris will bring some spark to the team."
Also in Phoenix news, Ed Jovanovski was fined $10,000 for his comments about the officiating during their game 3 loss.

Game 4 at Vancouver (5/19/09): With a screen in front of goaltender Roberto Luongo, Derek Morris rips a slapper top shelf. The Yotes defense would let them down for the final time this season. They give up the lead and eventually the game and their season. Henrik Sedin scores the GW goal in OT(2-1) as the Vancouver Canucks sweep the Phoenix Coyotes in four games. "This is a really bad feeling. My play throughout this series was horendous! Just bad. This was a great run, but we WILL be back next season and will win Stanley." - Ilya Bryzgalov on his play this series. Assistant GM T.Jackson said about the off-season for the Yotes, "There will be changes!"

Boy, it's good to know you can steal work from other people. You know, like me.

Read through that and tell me that it's not the same. The player moves are different, sure, but that's my writing.

                          Offseason:
The phoenix Coyotes have been busy this offseason. They have traded away Matt Jones, Joel Perralt, Todd Fedoruk to Nashville for Cody Franson and a 3rd round pick. GM Board said this, "We've liked Cody for some time now. Its was just a matter of finding what Nashville wanted in return. I think the trade worked out for both teams." They've also traded Keith Yandle and Brian McGratton to Washington for defenseman Mike Green. Coach Wayne Gretzky said this about the acquisition of Green, "Mike is an offensive wizard from the blue line. We need the extra offense from anywhere we can get it. Thats one of the things that led to our downfall against the Canucks." In yet another trade, The Yotes sent Mikael Tellqvist to Minnesota for a 2nd round pick.

                          2009 NHL DRAFT:
                          1st round: (D) Lasse Tollefson: 69 overall, B potential
                          2nd round: (C) Sheldon Barta: 66 overall, A potential
                          3rd round: (D) Yuri Okunev: 62 overall, A+ potential
4th round: (RW) Phil Tsarik: 62 overall, B potential
                          5th round: (C) Mikko Nummelin, 59 overall, B potential

The Phoenix Coyotes re-sign the following players:
                          Al Montoya(G), Josh Tordjman(G), Derek Morris(D), Enver Lisin(RW), Alex Bourret(RW), Logan Stephenson(D), Matt Murley(LW), Wacey Rabbit(C), Thomas Enstrom(RW)
