Game 1 @ Edmonton:
Stastny ties it up with a slapper from just inside the blue line. "Its great to get my first point with Phoenix out of the way quickly." - Paul Stastny. Elias then gets us one goal closer as were now down 3-2 late in the 2nd. Kindl ties the game at 3-3 with a rocket from about 30 feet out. Stastny then puts us up 4-3 with a delayed slapper that through the Oiler goaltender off. But Edmonton would not go quietly. We were under a heavy fire from the Oiler club during a late 6 on 4. We would hold on to win 4-3. Stastny: 2G, Derrik Morris had 3 assists. "Its good to get your first win on the season in the first game.It takes the pressure off and gives the team a boost of confifance." - Ilya Bryzgalov.
Carolina trades Rod Brind'Amour(C) and Erik Christenson(C) to Boston for Zdeno Chara(D) and Kyle Wanvig(RW)

Game 2 @ Minnesota: (Doans Return)
Minnesota has named Shane Doan the captain right of the bat. So to the game we go. Right from the get go, I knew it was gonna be a tough game. About 4 minutes into the game, this happens, "Doan skates into the corner to go fter the puck. Doan has the puck and gets hit. But Doan recovers has the puck and.. HE SCORES. He went 5 hole on Bryzgalov. Shane Doan gets his first goal against his former team and the first of the game." "It felt great. To get the games first goal and to have it be against my former team, just felt great. I think that set them back for the game. They werent the same team after that." - Shane Doan on his goal against his formr team. Shane was right. After that goal, the Yotes werent the same.Chris Bourque had injured Mark Parrish. But Parrish would come back in a big way. Late in the 3rd, Parrish comes back and scores to put them up 4-1. We lost the game by that score. Doan had 1 goal and 1 assist.

Game 3 vs Florida:
Early in the game, Gaborik scores on a deke puttin gus up 1-0. Voracek would add another with a shot from the hash marks. BUT this goal was a weird one. One that ive never seen before. Ok, so he shoots it from the hash marks and it goes wide. But it hits the glass, comes back toward Vokoun, hits him in the back and goes in for the goal. "It was weird. Ive never seen that happen before. It was like it had a mind f its own." - Jakub Voracek on his goal. We win this game by the score of 4-0. gaborik/Voracek each had 1 goal and 1 assist.
Carolina signs Mats Sundin(C) to a 1 year deal.
Minnesota signs Darryl Sydor to a 3 year deal.

Game 4 vs Philadelphia:
Elias gets a wrister to go top shelf to get us to 2-1. Chris Bourque adds another one for us. but it wasnt enough as the Flyers beat us 4-2. "I have been playing terrible so far. These losses go squarely on my shoulders." - Ilya Bryzgalov on his play.
GM Bll Board had this to say about his teams slow start to the season, "If something doesnt change, and change soon, moves will be made. And im not talking about small moves, Im talking major moves."
The Islanders sign (C) Rob Schremp to a 2 year deal

Game 5 vs Pittsbugh:
Only 19 seconds into the game, Paul Stastny lights the lamp to make it 1-0 Yotes. But later in the 1st, Sidney Crosby would make it a 1-1 game on a rebound goal. That would be the score until things got opened up late in the 3rd period. We lose this game 4-1. Crosby had 3 goals and 1 assist. Sykora had 1 goal and 3 assists.

The Phoenix Coyotes have traded Martin Hanzal(C), Ilya Bryzgalov, and a 1st round pick to the Atlanta Thrashers for scoring machine Ilya Kovalchuk(LW)
"I wasnt joking a round when I said something needs to be done fast. After we lost yet another game after giving up 4 goals, I had it. Something needed to be done. We loved Ilya during his time here. Maybe this is just the time for young goaltender Al Montoya to get his shot at the bigs. We'll see."
In related news, the Tampa Bay Lightning has claimed (LW) Matt Murley off waivers from the Phoenix Coyotes.

Game 6 vs San Jose: Kovalchuk's first game as a Coyotes
Kovalchuk gets his Yotes career started off to a great start. He grabs his first pooint in Phoenix, as he gets an assist on Marian Gaborik's goal in the first period. "Its great to get the first point in my first game here. Not to mention its at home." - Ilya Kovalchuk on his first point as a Coyote. Boedker would later injure Shark player Kyle Wellwood(out 18 days). It went tied up to overtime. It didnt end well for us. Thornton would score the game-winning goal on a defensive give-away. We lose 2-1. "It was a tough game. Its tough to lose a game on a defensive give-away. Ill admit, I had some butterflys, but that didnt hinder my performance. But We'll bounce back next game." - Al Montoya.

Game 7 vs Colorado:
Earley in the first, Paul Sastny has one clank of both posts. But he would later get his goal. Turris scores minutes later on a wrist shot that went top shelf, glove side. Then Stastny gets his. He scores just 10 seconds after Turris does to make it 2-0 lead. On a blunder my Stephan Yelle, who puts the puck in his own net, Peter Mueller gets rewarded the goal. But Mueller would get an actual shot to go in, as he scores on a slapper from 3 feet away to make it 4-0 Coyotes. Later in the game the onslaught continues. Daniel Carcillo scores with a wrister to go up 5-0. Stastny gets a odd goal himself in this game. Stastny takes a wrist shot, it hits the Colorado goaltender in the toe. Then the puck flies in the air only to come down just past the goal line right at the goaltenders feet. "It was weird. I dont know what is with the puck taking some weird deflections, but as long as they're for us, im all for it." - Paul Stastny. 10 seconds later, Paul gets his hat-trick as the we win the game 7-2. Stastny had 3 goals, Mueller had 2.
"See, this is what I was looking for. We needed help offensivly. Now we just need one more defenseman to put us on top." - GM Bill Board.
