Thanks for keeping a blog of your career makes it very interesting. I also like how you do well one week, and then your stats decline the next week. I plan on picking up a PS3 and this game very soon, so I was very interested in seeing something like this to see how it looked, and I like what I see so far.

Thanks. Even though the last several weeks I've put up decent numbers, I do see myself still struggling mightily in certain areas (RISP for example, a number 3 hitter for almost two whole months should not only have 20 RBIs, hence the harsh clutch scouting reports from Mr. Ewing ). I try to include as much detail about the week as I can either through the scouting reports, batting practice sessions or articles, since gamelogs don't tell the whole story.

Re: From the Sandlot to Cooperstown (MLB 09' The Show RTTS)

Well, it's been a while since I posted an update, mainly because I've been too busy, but now that I have time, I'm dropping a three-week post here.

Weeks 10, 11, and 12 - Falling on Hard Times (June 11 to July 1)

        Week 10:
Portland Planet: "Sea Dogs Victorious, 5-2"
Injury puts damper on comeback win
        Cal Johnson - June 17, 2009

Call them the comeback kids. In what is considered a lost season for the Sea Dogs, they came back against the Seawolves to earn the victory.

After falling behind 2-1, the Sea Dogs were able to muster some offense against Seawolves starter Danys Brito. Leading the offensive charge for the night was catcher Ryan Evans, who went 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Starter Dong-Uk Ku was the beneficiary of the late-game surge, earning the victory after pitching seven innings, allowing just two runs.

However, the Sea Dogs will be without outfielder Rob Knowles for the a couple of days after he came out of the game with an injury with forearm tightness.

The Sea Dogs will play game two of the series tonight.

        Week 11
        Portland Planet: "Circus Act"
Knowles Irks Manager With Shenanigans in Loss
        Cal Johnson - June 22, 2009

Last night's game certainly had its moments, despite Portland losing 5-4 to the Akron Aeros.

In his second game back from injury, outfielder Rob Knowles put on a show worth coming to the ballpark for to see. It was also a show that would make everyone in the stadium scratch their heads and ask "why is this guy even playing?"

In the bottom of the first inning, Knowles prolonged the inning back making Aeros starter Kirk Pace attempt over twenty pickoff throws to first. The catch? It was runners on first and second. By the end of the inning, Knowles's jersey was the dirtiest on the field, I'm sure the equipment guy isn't going to be pleased with that.

Knowles did come through in the clutch, driving a 2-rbi triple in the bottom of the ninth off of Aeros closer Jan Platt to tie the game at 4-4. However, that was undone in the top of tenth as Knowles from right field dove in the outfielder from a ground ball, allowing it to scoot by him for a triple that ended up leading to the go-ahead run.

Manager Arnie Beyeler wasn't too pleased, but could sympathize, "Baseball is a long season and where we are right now is probably not where these kids wanted to be in the standings. I'm just guessing that he [Knowles] wanted to freshen things up and ultimately it cost us the game."

Portland Planet: "Knowles Dropped Down in Batting Order"
        Cal Johnson - June 30, 2009

Another change to note with the Portland Sea Dogs, according to manager Arnie Beyeler, outfielder Rob Knowles will now be hitting lower in the lineup because of his recent slump. "We need guys who can drive in people on base at the three spot. Knowles hasn't done that."

        Fan Comments:
seadogsfan1 - he's still going to play rightfield right?
Sox4ever - good luck finding someone who can hit in the three spot.

Re: From the Sandlot to Cooperstown (MLB 09' The Show RTTS)

In light of recent happenings with my PC, I was forced to restart my RTTS. I've kept everything almost similar except I got drafted by the Pirates. I'm using Ridin's opening day 2 rosters, so currently in AA I'm playing alongside Pedro Alvarez (we're one heck of a 3-4 combo, with me hitting cleanup on this one).

I had to restart because of a whole disk drive error in which my D: drive kept appearing and disappearing. As a result, I ended up losing everything on that drive, including some of my college stuff and the RTTS stuff I was saving there.

I really like having some depth in how I present things here. However, I'll be posing monthly updates or so. I may even post the excel file where I'm doing the extended stat-tracking of my RTTS for this one instead of posting gamelogs every week. The excel file has detailed gamelogs of each game, a summary gamelog, splits stats including monthly, weekly, home/away, and RHP/LHP splits, and pitcher matchups (which is awesome).

I'll see what I can do with my updates. I'm just kind of bummed out on losing out on my Red Sox RTTS, but it was great. I didn't mean to abandon this one or leave anyone keeping track of this one hanging. I'll be using this same thread for my RTTS.

So just a quick update, here's my stats so far in AA Altoona:

          19 games, .333 (21-63), 9 R, 2 2B, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 2 SB, 1 CS, 4 BB, 3 K, .603 SLG, .377 OBP, .980 OPS.

*The caught stealing was a baserunning blunder with the bases loaded as the lead runner. I accidentally stepped off third.
