    HH04 - Devil Rays Dynasty

Devil Rays baby! I'm gonna turn this team around. Lou's ready and this is the opening day lineup and rotation:

    1. Sterling Ferrar
    2. Marlon Anderson
    3. Aubrey Huff
    4. Greg Vaughn
    5. Ben Grieve
    6. Reggie Sanders
    7. Jared Sandberg
    8. Toby Hall
    9. Rey Ordonez

    1. Joe Kennedy
    2. Victor Zambrano
    3. Dewon Brazelton
    4. Dan Reichert
    5. Carl Cambrano

Rotation is young and has good potential. Lineup is a little older but is pretty good. Opening Day will be on here in a little while.

    Blowout in Tampa

    March 31
    Boston Red Sox - 11
Tampa Bay Devil Rays - 0

    W - Pedro Martinez (1-0)
    L - Joe Kennedy (0-1)

Good Lord I hate this game. I figured it would be tough playing as the Rays, but I didn't think they would do this. Joe got bombed, only going a couple. The bullpen also got smashed, giving up 5 runs. The offense was limited to 5 hits, as Pedro was dominating pitching the entire game. The only bright spots were newcomers Sterling Ferrar and Reggie Sanders. Sterling went 2-3 including a double. Reggie had a double.

    Player of Game - Pedro Martinez (9 in. 0 r. 5 h.)
Key Hitters - BOS: Manny Ramirez, Damian Jackson
    TB: Sterling Ferrar, Reggie Sanders

    Attendance - 33, 731
    Time - 3:10
    Temp - 85*

                    A win for the Rays!

                    April 1
                    Boston Red Sox - 8
Tampa Bay Devil Rays - 13

                    W - David Lee (1-0)
                    L - Chad Fox (0-1)
                    S - Jesus Colome (1)

JUST IN!!!!!!!!: THE DEVIL RAYS SIGNED DAVID LEE FROM THE JAPAN LEAGUE!!!!! TODAY WAS HIS FIRST GAME!!!!! MORE ON HIM LATER!!!!!! A real slugfest at Tropicana Field today. But the Rays come out on top, lead by Greg Vaughn. Vaughn had an outstanding day, going 4 for 5 with 3 homers and 5 RBIs. "I saw the ball very good today, hopefully I can keep it up," said Vaughn after the game. Reggie Sanders also had a hot bat going 4 for 4 and drove in 3. Marlon Anderson added 2 RBIs going 2 for 5.

Newcomer David Lee, who we will have his bio later, came in a couple of hours before game time, warmed up, and headed out onto the field. He gave up 7 runs in 8 1/3 innings, but showed a lot of promise. His impossible slider struck out 5, and his fastball reached 99 MPH.

                    POG: Greg Vaughn
Key Hitters: BOS - Manny Ramirez, Mike Kameula

                        David Lee

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays signed starting pitcher David Lee to a huge fat contract today. He's 27 years old. He went to college at Texas University where he lead the Longhorns to the national championship. He entered the Japan League when he was 21 and his first season was named Rookie of the Year with a 3.21 ERA and 18 wins. Last year he had 19 wins with a 2.94 ERA. He was considered the best pitcher in the league. Now he will bring his talents to the Devil Rays, who need him very bad. He replaces Dewon Brazelton in the rotation. The new rotation:
                        1. David Lee
                        2. Joe Kennedy
                        3. Victor Zambrano
                        4. Dan Reichert
                        5. Sam Rowe

                        This is the press conference:

Reporter: Mr. Lee, why the Devil Rays?
Lee: I see a lot of talent in this organization and I would love to be a part of such a young and fired up team. I love those kinds of teams.

Reporter: Why did you leave the Japan League where you dominated for the Major Leagues?
Lee: You said it in the question...I was tired of dominating the league, I wanted to move on, a new challenge. The Major Leagues is my new challenge.

Reporter: Do you think you have a chance at the All-Star Team or even the Cy Young award?
Lee: I'm not answering that. You never know about those things. There are so many great pitchers in this league, it will be very hard...but I'm up to it.

Reporter: How do you like Tampa Bay and the Ray staff so far?
Lee: Well, I took a trip over here a few months ago when I was interested in moving to the Majors and the Rays. Lou Pinella is a great manager who has the managing skills to turn this team into a winner. I think he has this year. The city is wonderful, very beautiful and I love the weather.

Reporter: Thanks for talking and good luck this year.
                        Lee: Thanks.

Red Sox come out on top

                            April 2
                            Boston Red Sox: 8
                            Tampa Bay Devil Rays: 5

                            W: Tim Wakefield (1-0)
                            L: Graeme Lloyd (0-1)

The dang Red Sox won't give me a break. I was trailing the whole entire game until the bottom of the ninth. I was down 5 - 4 coming into that inning. The people up were Aubrey Huff, Greg Vaughn, and Reggie Sanders. Huff smashed a single, then Vaughn came through and killed a double over the center fielder's head. Huff scored, but Vaughn never came home. I had a lot of chances throughout the game. The Sox brought in Wakefield who I could not hit at all. In the top of the 11th, Graeme Lloyd had already set down the 10th inning batters one, two, three. However, the 11th inning was different. Damian Jackson pinch hit for Walker, and he hit a single. Manny Ramirez (who I hate very much now) also got a single. It was first and second, no outs. Nomar flied out (he went 0-5) Some no name pinch hit for Kameula and he grounded to short, but the freakin shortstop (Felix Escalona) booted it. Bases loaded, one out. Jason Varitek then doubled and it was all over. The stupid thing is, I put in Felix for his offense while Rey Ordonez and his gold glove candidate self was sitting on the bench. Felix went 0-4.

Sterling Ferrar continued his hot hitting with 2 RBIs. Jared Sandberg went 3-4 with an RBI.

                            POG: Manny Ramirez
