    GAME 1
Pitchers- Freddy Garcia @ Barry Zito

Seattle would take the field in Oakland for the very first game of the season as far as the whole MLB.

Seattle jumped out to an early 2-0 lead from an Ichiro single, and an error at second base. The A's quickly scored 2 more runs in the same inning. From that point on, Barry Zito dominated the game, and Oakland's offense was unstoppable. Erabiel Durazo hit a HR in the 5th inning, and from then, the Mariners had no chance. Oakland wins this one 7-3.
    WP - Barry Zito (1-0)
    LP - Freddy Garcia (0-1)
    Homerun Erabiel Durazo

Miguel Tejada - 4-5, double, RBI
    Jermaine Dye - 2-4, 3RBI
    Eric Chavez - 2-5

    Ichiro - 2-4, run, SB
    John Olerud - 2-4
Brett Boone - 2-4, RBI, SB

            GAME 2

Starters Jamie Moyer (0-0) @ Mark Mulder (0-0)

This was a way better game than the 1st game of the opening series of the Major League season.

In the first 4 inning, both teams put up 2 runs each. From then on, it was a pitchers duel. The game was on the line for the Mariners in the bottom of the 9th inning. With the bases loaded, Chavez stepped up to the dish, only to strike out.

They went into extra innings, and as soon as Seattle took out Jamie Moyer for Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Bishop hit a walk off homerun to win the game for the A's.
Athletics beat the Mariners again, 4-2.

            WP Ricardo Rincon (1-0)
            LP Shigetoshi Hasegawa (0-1)
            HR E.Martinez(1), B.Bishop(1), Er.Chavez(1)

            Eric Chavez 1-5, 2Rbi, HR
            Miguel Tejada 0-5

Both teams played well behind the plate and on the mound. The Mariners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The A's scored 2 in the same inning. It was a pitchers duel until both teams started hitting the ball. Both teams scored another run, but in the 6th inning, Mike Cameron strained his left hammy diving for a ball in the outfield. Mike Cameron goes on the DL for 70 days. John Mabry would get into the lineup to take his spot. Mabry picked up a base hit while in the game, which stated a rally for the 4th and clinching run of the game. The Mariners win the game 4-3.
