Black Knights sign Walton as new Head Coach

The Army Black Knights have singed an unknown to be their next head coach. He is Derek Walton, no relation to Bill Walton.

"I'm very pleased to be here" Said Walton.

"Why did you decide to come here?" asked one reporter

"Well, the Athletic Director told me that we are trying to build the men and women of today into the leaders of tomorrow, so I followed that up by saying, let's play some ball."

Walton is out of a relatively small Canadian City called Fort McMurray. He has played basketball at all levels but has never coached any team at any level.

"It'll be a learning experience for all parties involved" said Walton.

Walton's Debut Spoiled as Knights lose by Seventeen

George Mason University-Even an eighteen point, four assist night from Army Junior could help Army pull out the victory in head coach Derek Walton's Debut.

"These George Mason kids, their a good, tight knit bunch of kids and they know how to capitalize on a team's mistake" said Knights head coach Derek Walton.

"It would have been nice to get my first victory in my debut," said Walton, "But there will be other games."

Knights lose a heart breaker in the Final Minute

The Army Black Knights were up by a score of 57-54 with just over one minute remaining in the second half of play. A sure victory if the knights could get the stops they needed.

They didn't.

They simply broke down in the last minute of play giving up back to back two pointers while fouling in the act of shooting. They made the free throws which put the Fa. Dickenson Knights up 60-57 with 34.7 seconds remaining on the game clock. The Knights charged up court and in what could be considered by many to be some questionable play calling by rookie head coach Derek Walton by making his team take the three pointer on the run. Which was long. Fa. Dickenson hit three free throws and made it 63-57 which would end up being the final score of the game.

"People may not agree with my playcalling," said Walton. "But I thought that it was the right play considering the situation."
