Storr shines in debut; gets tie
    - AP, Raleigh News & Observer
    (December 13, 2003)

Jamie Storr made his Carolina Hurricane debut at Savvis Center in St. Louis. He looked strong for the entire game, allowing only one goal, which came at 17:43 of the third period. That goal forced a 1-1 tie.

Storr made 37 saves on 38 St. Louis shots, proving a good pickup by the 'Canes. He also denied all 7 of St. Louis' powerplay chances, keeping Carolina in the game.

In the second period, Jaro Svoboda scored for the second time in 3 games in which he re-directed Bret Hedican's shot passed Bret Johnson. Johnson was prepared to make the chest save on Hedican's slapper, but instead, the puck found it's way through the five hole, making it 1-0 Carolina at 14:18.

Bret Johnson looked good for the rest of the game, giving St. Louis the chance to tie it. And they took advantage of it. Late in the third period, the Blues were cycling the puck well in the 'Canes zone. Demitra found a wide open Dallas Drake who fired the puck top-shelf past Storr. The Savvis Center crowed went crazy, knowing they would now most likely send the game into OT.

In the waning seconds of the third, Carolina had a chance in which Radim Vrbata had a cross-ice pass to Rod Brind'Amour. Johnson did a pad stack, but Brind'Amour still had the puck. Luckily enough for St. Louis, Brind'Amour's stick was tied up by a St. Louis defensemen, preventing him from getting the shot off.

The game ended in a 1-1 tie, giving both teams a point in the standings. Carolina played a physical game, laying 21 hits on the Blues.

Notes: Shots registered at 38-36 St. Louis.....Carolina had 2 powerplay chances, but didn't convert on any of them

Storr gets first shutout as a 'Cane
      - AP, Raleigh News & Observer
      (December 15, 2003)

Jamie Storr started in his second straight game for the Carolina Hurricanes in front of the home crowd at RBC Center, earning a well-deserved shutout win, 1-0.

Storr made 26 saves, improving his record to 1-0-1 as a 'Cane and 8-3-1 overall on the season. Kevin Weekes may now have competition...

Late in the first period, the Hurricanes scored their only goal of the game. Rod Brind'Amour won the faceoff back to Glen Wesley, and he shot the puck. Erik Cole was heading towards the net when it hit him in the back and bounced up into the air. The puck floated right over Tommy Salo's head and into the net, putting the 'Canes up 1-0. The official scoring gave Erik Cole the goal, and Wesely and Brind'Amour the assists.

Tommy Salo kept the Oilers in the game, stopping every shot that came his way for the rest of the game. To be exact, that was 35 saves in all, a quite impressive showing.

Edmonton played a physical game, leveling Carolina with 20 hits and taking 4 penalties which didn't hurt them because the 'Canes didn't convert. The Hurricanes took 6 penalties and killed off all of them.

Notes: T. Marchant is day-to-day for the Oilers.....He sustained a minor injury in the 3rd period.....Kevin Weekes will get the start in Detroit for the next game, coming off a 2-game rest
