The Washington Wizards traveled to Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio to take on the Cavaliers, hoping to dismantle King James and Co.

Very competitive from the get-go, this contest figured to be a great one. The two squads traded baskets for much of the first half, neither producing an outstanding run. Larry Hughes lead the Wizards in scoring in the early going, and Eric Snow actually carried the bulk of the offense for the Cavs. Going into the intermission, the score was locked at 42.

The second half continued right where the first one left off, with both teams trading scores and neither being able to pull away. LeBron James, who was quiet for much of the first two quarters, poured it on in the second half. Gilbert Arenas took the torch from Hughes as the Wizards leading scorer, and helped cap off a 12-2 run with a huge three-pointer from the corner. In the late minutes, the Cavs staged a comeback, and managed to tie the contest at 90 apiece with only 12 seconds left. Washington gave the ball to the hot-hand, Arenas, who took a pick and hit a fade-away three with 4 seconds left. Cleveland was unable to connect on their long three point attempt, giving the Wizards the 93-90 win.

    Player Of The Game

    Gilbert Arenas
    32 points, 12-17 FG's (4-5 3pt), 16 assists, 4 rebounds

    Hughes - 23 points, 3 steals, 3-5 3pt FG's
    Jamison - 17 points, 4 rebounds

    James - 24 points, 12-20 FG's
    Gooden - 22 points, 11 rebounds
    Snow - 16 points, 24 assists

    Turnovers:
    Cleveland - 22
    Washington - 7

He gets plenty of burn off the bench, but doesn't necessarily rack up the stats. He just controls the game, doesn't commit turnovers, and feeds other people where they can score.

And yes, Arenas = God's new fetus

The talented Dallas Mavericks came to town to take on the surging, still undefeated Washington Wizards.

The Mavericks opened the game up with 9 straight field goals, quickly putting the Wizards in a hole. However, slowly but steadily, Washington put up some good shots, and found themselves with a 10 point cushion over the Mavs. This, like the original Dallas lead, didn't hold for very long, and the two teams traded numerous baskets before the half ended.

The second half was much of the same, runs answered by runs, and shots answered by shots. Late in the fourth quarter, Gilbert Arenas again put the Wizards on his back. Arenas and Co. quickly put up an 11-point lead, and the Mavs were in a hole for a few minutes. Again, Dallas battled back, and came within 3 points with only a minute left. However, after clutch shooting and fouls by the opposition, Washington again pulled away, and won the game 109-97.

              Player Of The Game

              Gilbert Arenas
              29 points, 15 assists

              Jamison - 24 points
              Hughes - 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists

              Terry - 25 points, 15 assists
              Nowitzki - 22 points, 13 rebounds

              Turnovers:
              Dallas - 16
              Washington - 9

The Celtics traveled to Washington to take on the still undefeated Wizards, with hopes of crushing their soaring pride.

In the early going, it looked as if the Celts would do just that. The Wizards weren't necessarily playing bad basketball, but the Celtics always seemed to counter whatever it was Washington was doing. If the Wiz scored, so did Boston. If Washington got a defensive stop, Boston did it faster. No matter what the Wizards did, the Celtics did it better, and found themselves in a 10 point hole going into the half.

The second half wasn't much better for Washington, and the Celtics continued to run the hell out of them. Paul Pierce and Gary Payton lead the way, both scoring 20 or more in the contest. Not helping their cause much, the Wizards shot a measly 18% in the fourth quarter on the way to the 82-74 loss.

                  Player Of The Game

                  Paul Pierce

                  Arenas - 22 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds
                  Jamison - 17 points, 5 rebounds
                  Brown - 8 points, 11 rebounds

                  Payton - 20 points, 10 assists

The Washington Wizards traveled to the Meadowlands to take on the new look Nets.

The first half couldn't have gone any worse for the Wizards. They shot a terrible percentage, and gave up numerous huge plays to the opposing offense. Jason Kidd was having a field day against Washington, and everytime he touched the ball something positive happened for New Jersey. Going into the half, the Nets had a 22 point lead, and held the Wizards under 40 points.

Thoughout the third quarter and much of the fourth, the same storyline haunted Washington. None of the big guns for the Wiz could get things going, and Kidd continued to go off.

However, with 3 minutes left in the game, down by 12, the Wizards stormed back. After battling it out with the Nets for awhile, Washington found themselves down by only three points with a minute left. Gilbert Arenas got the call, and the Wizards put the ball in his hands, and the New Jersey crowd witnessed the point guard drain a three to tie it up! A defensive stop after a long Nets' possession followed, and the Wizards had a chance to take the lead for the first time all game. This time, Washington went with Antawn Jamison, who drained a triple, giving the Wiz a three point lead with 20 seconds left. The Wizards held on, and beat the Nets 76-73.

The Wizards went back home to take on a healthy Vince Carter and a thirsty Toronto squad.

Early on, it was all Wizards, a sign that last week's slow start was just a fluke. The offense came out firing on all cylinders, as Arenas both scored and distributed the rock beautifully. The defense wasn't as sharp, giving up it's fair share of points, but did enough to give the Wizards a three point lead after the first quarter.

After the first quarter, however, things made a turn for the worst. Washington missed everything they put up, Toronto didn't. Washington couldn't play defense, Toronto could. The Raptors quickly pulled away from the Wizards, and the Wiz had no hope for the rest of the game. The Toronto Raptors came to town and sealed the victory over Washington, 85-73.
