The last time Washington and Toronto played, the Raptors handed the Wizards a loss. This time, the Wiz were looking for revenge.

The first half looked very good for Washington, as they jumped out to a huge lead early on. Up by almost 15 the entire way through the first two quarters, the Wizards had breathing room to do whatever, and Gilbert Arenas was a huge reason for this. He lit up Rafter Alston and Alvin Williams, scoring 15 points in the first half. Going into the intermission, the Wizards held a very comfortable lead.

In the second half, however, it was a completely different ballgame. Toronto played with a purpose, and Vince Carter showed why he was once viewed as the second coming of Jordan. Arenas and Jamison did their best to hold on to their lead from the previous half, but were unsuccessful. With a minute left, the Raptors found themselves within a point, and resorted to fouling. After Arenas drained two free throws, the Raptors hurried down court with the rock in Carter's hands. With 20 seconds left, he threw up a three pointer, and sunk it. With the game tied, the Wizards held for the last shot. Arenas was Iso'd against Alston, got an open look, and clanked it off the iron.

For the first few minutes of OT, it was all Wizards. The Raptors began to fall apart, and made people wonder how they had gotten this far in the game. Arenas continued to have a great game, and Antawn Jamison really stepped his game up. The Raptors made a late comeback attempt, but the Wizards held on to win the game, 94-91.

    Player Of The Game

    Antawn Jamison
    22 points, 10-23 FG, 10 rebounds, 5 assists

    Arenas - 27 points, 14 assists
    Brown - 18 points, 9 rebounds

    Carter - 21 points, 3 assists
    Rose - 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals
    Bosh - 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists

    3pt Attempts:
    Washington - 8-18
    Toronto - 1-8

The New Jersey Nets traveled just south to take on Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards, who hold the best record in the league.

The two teams started off the game fairly even, but that wasn't necessarily a good thing. It was either; A) both defenses played well, or B) both offenses sucked. Neither team looked fully capable of putting the ball in the basket, which usually spells problems for shooting percentages and point totals. Ason Kidd (no J), "held" Gilbert Arenas to 13 points in the first half, 2 of those coming at the buzzer to give the Wizards a four point lead at halftime.

The second half was much different, as both offenses caught fire. Arenas got hot, as did Kidd, and the two turned it into a 1 on 1 matchup. They battled back and forth, neither one of them giving in to the other. Late in the fourth, however, Kidd and Co. really started to pull away. The Nets went on a 14-4 run, giving the Nets a 90-84 victory in Washington.

      Player Of The Game

      Jason Kidd
      31 points, 14-29 FG, 15 assists

      Arenas - 30 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds
      Jamison - 21 points, 4 rebounds

      Jefferson - 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists
      Mourning - 8 points, 13 rebounds

For the first time this season, the Washington Wizards were pitted against the new look Atlanta Hawks.

In the early going, it was obvious that the Hawks were more prepared to play. The Wizards struggled mightily from the field and defensively, giving up a shooting percentage of over 60%. Tony Delk and Antoine Walker were a dangerous combination for the Hawks, and gave ATL a huge lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the lead grew. The Wizards just appeared to be outclassed, and didn't even belong on the same court in the third quarter. None of the big guns for Washington could get anything going, and they were in trouble.

However, down by 25 points, the Wizards called a timeout. Coach Eddie Jordan gave his team confidence, and they displayed it on the court. A 22-4 run sealed the comeback, as Washington tied the game with only a minute left. After a huge defensive stop, Arenas took the ball down the floor and made a fadeaway jumper over Delk's head. Delk charged the ball down the court and did the same to Arenas with 15 seconds left in the game. The Wizards were shut down on their next possession, and the buzzer beater try by Atlanta was unsuccessful, sending the game into overtime.

In Overtime, the Wizards showed why they were there. Jamison finally picked up the slack, and Kwame Brown continued his hot streak. Up by 5 with 2 minutes left, things were looking good for Washington. However, as things often are, this was too good to be true. The Wizards, again, fell apart, and coughed up the lead. The Hawks poured it on and beat the Wizards in overtime, 105-100.

          Player Of The Game

          Antoine Walker
          22 points, 11-17 FG, 16 rebounds

          Brown - 34 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals
          Arenas - 27 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals

          Delk - 27 points, 9 assists
          Harrington - 20 points, 7 rebounds
          Drobnjak - 10 points, 24 rebounds

          Team Rebounds:
          Atlanta - 63
          Washington - 34

The Chicago Bulls came to town to face off against the Washington Wizards, both hoping to prove they can be Eastern Conference contenders.

Early on, the Wizards appeared to be in trouble. Gilbert Arenas got into very early foul trouble, which usually spells horror for Washington. This time, however, Steve Blake entered the game ready to play. He hooked up with teammates for buckets and kept the Wizards in the game. Jamison was on the receiving end of a lot of passes, dropping 13 points in the first half. At the end of the first two quarters, the Wizards held a comfortable 8 point lead.

The second half went a little better for the Wizards, not that they needed it. Arenas came back into the game and set off his usual offensive fireworks. To make a long story short, the Wizards dominated in the second half, and beat the Bulls 95-84.

              Player Of The Game

              Gilbert Arenas
              22 points, 9-15 FG (4-5 3pt), 13 assists

              Jamison - 23 points

              Hinrich - 20 points, 11 assists, 7-21 FG
              Curry - 10 points, 11 rebounds

              Team 3pt FG:

              Washington - 9-18

The Dallas Mavericks and Seattle Supersonics agreed on a deal yesterday, with the teams receiving the following players..

Danny Fortson + 1st Round Draft Pick

                  Jason Terry

The deal made Seattle an even stronger shooting team, and the Mavericks became even deeper down low.
