    Re: Big East Blow Out

That was a good win against St. Johns. It's always nice to add one to the win column. Good luck against UConn.

Panthers get Dogged on the Road

        12Pittsburgh @ 2UConn

A good Big East matchup was on the wait here in Storrs, CT. UConn has been playing great ball as of late, but Pitt has been inconsistent and not battle test on the road too many times. It's conference play, so it's time to win.
        - - - - -
UConn matched up well with the Panthers inside, but today they had the advantage. Charlie Villanueva and Josh Boone were too much inside. They got the Pitt forwards in foul trouble and controlled the paint. Also, Rashad Anderson and Marcus Williiams dictated the tempo on the outside, and took advantage of Pitt. Pitt loses bad 101-87 in a track meet.

        Pitt Stats
Carl Krauser 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assist
Chevy Troutman 10 points, 12 rebounds

        UConn Stats
Marcus Williams 6 points, 7 assist
Charlie Villanueva 23 points, 11 rebounds
Josh Boone 14 points, 7 rebounds
        Rashad Anderson 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assist (4-4 3-pointers)

                        Big East Rivalry Tops Saturday

                        #14 Syracuse Orange 16-5 (5-2) @ #16 Pittsburgh Panthers 13-4 (3-2)
Peterson's Events Center - Pittsburgh, PA
                        - - - - -
Syracuse meets Pittsburgh for what will be one of the best games of the year. The ultimate point guard matchup awaits in the Middle States featuring the great shooter Gerry McNamara squaring up against the rugged but showy Carl Krauser.
                        - - - - -
Hakim Warrick will miss the game with a sprained toe.
                        - - - - -
Both teams came out of the gate ready to impress themselves on the game. The Orange came out with their tough 2-3 defense, but Pitt was able to negate that attack by getting out in transition. Because of this, the Orange was unable to utilize their defense against these Panthers.
                        - - - - -
The game eventually slowed down, but the Orange had the advantage of both halfcourt offenses. Although Krauser is a great defender, he can only defend one player, as he shut down McNamara. The wings for the Orange chipped in with many points, which was the ultimate key for Syracuse's 41-38 lead at the half.
                        - - - - -
Krauser didn't really shoot well all game, infact he didn't score at all in the first half. He did have a complete game, however. His 8 assist kept the defense honest and his 8 boards made him a threat to start the fastbreak himself. With about 2 minutes left, Krauser made 2 huge 3 pointers to virtually put the game out of reach. Syracuse had to eventually result to fouling, but the Panthers held on and won 71-67.
