Thanks for reading! UAB won't be too easy to get past either, I just hope I can contain their fast breaks..

        Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Blazers of Alabama at Birmingham traveled north to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles in a Top 15 matchup.

In the first half, the Blazers were unable to get much of anything going. Everytime they attempted their famous fastbreaks, the Golden Eagles forced a turnover and turned it into points. Travis Diener had himself a first half, scoring 18 points.

The second half was very different. The Blazers, led by Ronell and Donell Taylor, stormed back and made the game worth watching. UAB finally started completing their fastbreak opportunities, which was bad news for Marquette. With a minute and change left, the Blazers resorted to fouling, and we all know that hardly ever works out. Marquette pulled this one out, 72-64.

        Players Of The Game
        MARQ - Travis Diener - 30 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds

Southern Miss Golden Eagles @ #9 Marquette Golden Eagles
            Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Marquette continued their homestand against the visiting Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

The first half was very competitive at first, but fell off quick. Travis Diener hit three quick three-pointers, but SoMiss answered with numerous buckets of their own. Rashad Carruth, the SoMiss scoring leader, got into foul trouble, and was on the bench for most of the first half. Going into halftime, Marquette had pulled away from Southern Miss, and led by 24 points.

In the second half, SoMiss staged a little comeback. Carruth was back on the floor, and contributed quickly.. but also quickly commited his third foul, which sent him back to the bench. The Marquette bench kept on giving up points to Southern Miss, and the Marquette starters soon came back out. Travis Diener showed the other Golden Eagles how to play basketball, leading Marquette to the 82-72 victory.

Daniel-Meyer Coliseum - Fort Worth, Texas

The fifth ranked Marquette Golden Eagles took their 18-2 record to Forth Worth to take on the Horned Frogs of TCU.

In the first half, Texas Christian looked to be the better team. Led by the scoring and point guard play of Corey Santee, the Horned Frogs jumped out to an early lead. Travis Diener played his usual great game, but it wasn't enough to keep the Golden Eagles from facing a five point deficit going into halftime.

The second half started out the exact same way for the Eagles, disappointing. Diener and Novak tried to lead a comeback, but the Horned Frogs seemed to be too much. However, when the Golden Eagles finally turned the corner, they turned it fast. Diener and Novak finally got Marquette over the hill, giving Marquette the 74-65 victory in a nailbiter.

                Players Of The Game
                MARQ - Travis Diener - 29 points, 5-9 3PT FG, 13 assists, 5 rebounds
                TCU - Corey Santee - 33 points, 6-8 3PT FG, 6 assists, 3 rebounds

                MARQ
                Novak - 25 points, 5 assists
                Mason - 10 points, 4 rebounds

                TCU
                Shropshire - 16 points, 3 assists
                Curtis - 7 points, 7 rebounds

The fifth ranked Marquette Golden Eagles headed to Greenville, NC to take on underdogs East Carolina.

From the get-go, this one was ugly for the Pirates. They couldn't seem to get anything going, but the Golden Eagles had no offensive problems at all. Diener hit his first four shots from the field - all of which were three-pointers. At halftime, Diener had 8 assists; East Carolina had 14 points.

The second half went a lot better for the Pirates, but that wasn't hard to do. Diener continued his offensive surge, and the Eagles rolled, 80-40.
