#18 Marquette Golden Eagles @ Memphis Tigers
    The Pyramid - Memphis, Tennessee

The Golden Eagles traveled to the Music City to take on the struggling Memphis Tigers in The Pyramid.

In the early going, the teams exchanged baskets as well as the lead numerous times. Travis Diener and Rod Carney went back and forth for awhile, trying to out-do one another. Sean Banks chipped in late in the first half for Memphis, as Steve Novak did for Marquette. At halftime, the Eagles were up by 5.

The second half went well for the Eagles, at first. After draining numerous threes and finishing a couple of fast breaks, Marquette saw their first draught of the contest. This allowed Memphis to come back from their 15 point deficit. However, the Tigers stalled at the end, and resorted to fouling, giving Marquette the 82-76 victory.

    Players Of The Game
    MARQ - Travis Diener - 28 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds

        Recruiting Update
        Ransom Dobbins, Nigeria

Marquette has been contacting SF Ransom Dobbins out of Nigeria for some time now, and the 6'5" swingman now lists the Golden Eagles as his top school. Dobbins can do it all, but especially succeeds on the offensive end of the floor. The Golden Eagles expect Dobbins to sign after the season is over.

        Woody Miller, PF from Illinois

The Golden Eagles have also contacted power forward Woody Miller, a great prospect out of the Chicago area. Miller can do it all, and has good potential. He currently lists Wisconsin as his top choice, but Marquette is second on his list. Only time will tell where this blue-chipper will go.

South Florida Bulls @ #18 Marquette Golden Eagles
                    Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Bulls from the University of South Florida traveled well north to take on Travis Diener.. err, Marquette.

The first half went very well, for the Golden Eagles at least. The Bulls didn't score until there were 7 minutes left in the period, while Marquette ran up the score until then. Let's just say, the first half was more than embarrassing for the Bulls, as Diener had 23 points to their 16.

In the second half, the Bulls did a lot more scoring, but it was still nowhere near it needed to be. The subs came in for Marquette to begin the period, and played most of it. After the game seemed to last forever, the Golden Eagles won 95-52.

                    Players Of The Game
                    MARQ - Travis Diener - 33 points, 8-13 3PT FG, 12 assists, 4 steals
                    USF - Brian Swift - 28 points, 6-11 3PT FG, 5 assists, 4 rebounds

                    MARQ
                    Mason - 18 points, 4-5 3PT FG
                    Novak - 10 points, 2-3 3PT FG

                    USF
                    Leather - 12 points, 15 rebounds

                        Diener vs Diener, Round 1
Travis & Drake Diener Face Off in Chicago

Travis and Drake Diener grew up playing alongside one another as cousins and loyal teammates, but the tables have turned. After a few great showing as a high school prospect, the Golden Eagles jumped on the chance to sign Travis. Drake waited a little bit longer, and finally committed to DePaul; a team in the same conference.

Marquette and DePaul will do battle tomorrow, but all eyes will be on the Dieners, who both expect to have huge games.

                        Stay tuned.

The Marquette Golden Eagles traveled down near Chi-town to take on Travis' cousin, Drake Diener, and the DePaul Blue Demons.

Dameon Mason also had himself a half, scoring 17 of his team's points. Going into the intermission, Marquette held a comfortable 22 point lead.

The second half was much of the same, although the Blue Demons did shoot a little better. However, it just wasn't enough, as Travis bested his cousin and Marquette got the victory, 78-60.
