                Season Outlook

                Season Outlook

                Pre-Season, Week 1
                Seattle, WA

The Seattle Seahawks look their best in quite a while, after they lost two more post-season games in early 2005 and 2006. Now, after trades, drafts, and more practice, they look like their ready for a post-season win, which would be their first in over 20 years- the longest drought in NFL history.

All-Pro quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck was signed with the franchise tag for the second straight time, and possibly the last, after the Seahawks traded for Heisman winner, Chris Leak, out of Florida. They hope it will add pressure of Hasselbeck's shoulders, after his statistics deteriorated in the '04 and '05 campaign. In 2004, the savvy veteran threw for 21 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, the most in his illustrious career. And in 2005, he showed signs of a comeback, leading the team to a 7-1 record, until bad luck arrived in the form of an injury as he sat out the rest of the season.

Which brings us to 2006, a new year, and perhaps his last chance to prove himself as a leader. This will more than likely be his make or break season. If he does not show signs of improvement by week 6, chances are he will be traded to a team willing to take a chance on him... which would enter the Leak era.

Thanks! I just added some rules to make it challenging; first time I've done this. Hopefully I don't fail.

                        Pre-Season Drills

                        Pre-Season Drills

-Rookie QB, Chris Leak, worked with veterans Matt Hasselbeck and Trent Dilfer in maintaing pocket presence. He showed his agility and mobility, but his accuracy and awareness remains in question.

-Linebacker, Will Derting, was with linebacker, Anthony Simmons, who helped in his position in tackling. Derting shows promise.

-CB, Antrel Rolle, practiced with Bobby Taylor to polish up on his defensive skills. Rolle amazed coaches with his blazing speed and vertical leap, but disappointed by letting quite a few footballs slip through his hands.

-Felow Floridian rookie, Channing Crowder, a linebacker, worked with various offensive linemen in trench fights. Crowder impressed many, including head coach Mike Holmgren, with his speed and strength.

-3rd year kicker, Josh Brown, worked with the Special Teams coach, to improve his accuracy. He proved to be an accurate and powerful kicker.

-Sophmore punter, Adam Finley, also worked with the Special Teams coach, to increase his overall punting skills. He showed little promise and was a major let down in Pre-Season drills. However, he still remains a solid and reliable punter.

-Seneca Wallace, the 4th string quarterback, worked with the Offensive Coordinator to see how he is doing at his position. He showed no improvement, but his speed is what is keeping him on the team.

-Maurice Morris' replacement as the backup runningback, DonTrell Moore trained with Shaun Alexander and the Runningbacks coach to prove that he was worth the 2nd round pick. He showed some speed early on, but fatigue got the best of him as he slowed down near the end of the drills and fumbled the football.

-Mark Clayton, second year receiver, practiced with Darrell Jackson, Koren Robinson, and Bobby Engram in the catching department, and just like the receiving corps, he dropped a lot of passes. He looks to remain 4th on the depth chart, behing Jackson, Robinson, and Engram.

                            Seattle, WA

Bad news arrived during the last week of Pre-Season action, as 2 of the Seahawks' 3 running backs were injured, including allstar, Shaun Alexander. The other being Noah Herron. The good news for Seattle, is that Alexander will be out one week, which is the opening game against their division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals.

Herron will be inactive for atleast 7 weeks. This puts rookie, DonTrell Moore, as the starting running back, and word out of the front office is that they might utilize rookie wide out, Troy Williamson, as the backup running back.

As for the rest of the team, everyone stayed healthy.
