    Philly 'Big 5' Rivalry Game
    12/11@Tom Gola Arena
    #16 Villanova (3-0) 50
    La Salle (1-4) 51

La Salle played Villanova suprisingly close all the way through the game, although it is a Philly 'Big 5' game. Villanova found themselves down 49-47 with the ball and 8.8 seconds to go. Allan Ray shot a somewhat contested 3 ball, but it bounced off the rim. Curtis Sumpter went up ferociously and grabbed the offensive rebound, put it back up, made the basket, AND got fouled! He completed the 3 point play oppurtunity, putting 'Nova ahead 50-49. La Salle had one last shot and it led to a shot from the high post by Mike St. John, and although it was no good there was a questionable goaltending call ruled on 'Nova's Curtis Sumpter. Nonetheless Villanova still had time to get one more shot off with 0.8 seconds remaining. Randy Foye made a 3/4 court feed and Allan Ray caught it and got off a 3 but couldn't get it to go in. Villanova was left shocked as La Salle fans stormed the court of Tom Gola Arena after the huge upset. Allan Ray and Curtis Sumpter supplied the majority of Villanova's points, but it just wasn't enough and it wasn't Villanova's night as they suffered their first loss of the season.

    Player of The Game:

Allan Ray: 21 points, 3 assists, 1 steal, 3 rebounds

    Villanova Stats
    Curtis Sumpter: 12 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 6 rebounds
Michael Nardi: 5 points, 10 assists, 6 steals
Randy Foye: 5 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 5 rebounds
Josh Brooks: 4 points, 4 rebounds
Jason Fraser: 1 point, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 11 rebounds

I'm gettin' sick of seeing Ray's picture! LOL

Tough loss against La Salle, I'm sure you'll bounce back against Fordham though.

I am kinda of too, to be honest with you, lol. But he has just been the most clutch by far, but by the time the Big East schedule starts I hope to have the scoring more balanced. I believe I can do it easily but Ray seems to just always be in the right place at the right time.

                    12/7@The Pavillion
                    Fordham (4-2) 40
                    Villanova (3-1) 50

The 'Cats looked to rebound following a disappointing first loss to rival LaSalle last week, and although Fordham jumped out to an early lead Villanova would prevail in the end to prevent a 2 game losing streak. While there was no team statistic that seemed to be a huge reason for Villanova's win, it can mainly be credited to the play of Allan Ray, who once again led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points, as well as Curtis Sumpter who had a sick 15 point, 15 rebound double-double in addition to being named player of the game by Head Coach Jay Wright. Sumpter also added 3 blocks and 1 dime as well! Villanova will return to the Pavillion next week to take on the Great Danes of Albany.

                    Player of The Game:

Curtis Sumpter: 15 points, 1 assist, 3 blocks, 15 rebounds

                    Villanova Stats

                            12/22@The Pavillion
                            Albany (6-1) 45
                            Villanova (4-1) 63

Villanova got yet another win by the following method: dictating the pace of the game, for the length of the game. They forced Albany to play their style of game, and never got flustered though Albany was ahead early, similar to many Nova games so far this season. For the first time this season, Allan Ray DID NOT lead the Villanova Wildcats in scoring. You read that right. It wasn't a misprint. Curtis Sumpter, who dropped a season high 25 on the Great Danes, and also added 17 boards was the highest scoring Wildcat on the night. It was Sumpter's 2nd double double in a row, and the second straight game in which he grabbed 15+ boards off the glass. It's not to say Allan Ray didn't have a good game however, adding 16 points, dishing out 4 dimes, stealing 3 times, and grabbing 3 boards. Michael Nardi also dished out a season high 15 assists in route to Villanova's 5th victory on the year.

                            Player of The Game:

                            Curtis Sumpter: 25 points, 17 rebounds, 11/17 FGs (2/3 3PT FGs)

Michael Nardi: 7 points, 15 assists, 3 steals
Jason Fraser: 2 points, 1 rebound
