Heartbreak December 13, 2009 - 12:00 pm Posted by AllstarMe

Last time we played Maryland we destroyed them on their own field. We really took that for granted when we met them this time, and they showed us why we shouldn't.

They scored with a minute thirty left when they forced a fumble on a punt and took it back for a touchdown. Talk about a heart breaker. Yeah we'll be in a good bowl game. But it probably won't be a BCS bowl, it's not the national championship, and we didn't win the ACC. It hurts.

I just want to lay around all day and do nothing. Just so disappointing. I do want to dominate whoever we play in our bowl game though. But that seems so secondary right now.

      5 Tackles

I got to 100 tackles. I'd trade them all for another shot at the ACC title. I don't care who we play or where we play in our bowl game...I wish we could say 2009 ACC Champions.

No BCS Bowl. Chick-fil-A Bowl v South Carolina. Weird. We played in their preseason game, and now bowl game.

I love the free stuff they give us at these bowl games. 52' TV for my apartment.

We really felt like we had something to prove against South Carolina, and I think we did that. We forced three turnovers and really got after the quarterback, and our offense really showed what was up.

A lot of us feel like it was a game too late, but we finished strong with really nothing to play for. We'll finish in the Top 10 for sure, but not winning the ACC or playing for a National title really hurts. We wanted it for our seniors, but it'll have to wait until next year's bunch.

New Year's was nuts. I'm not at liberty to discuss what happened...but let's just say I haven't gone to bed yet. It was a good night.

Save the best for last. Really wanted to finish with more then 110 tackles once I hit the number. Can't believe I didn't get a single forced fumble, fumble recovery, or interception this season. Leading the team in tackles helps though.

Ready. Set. Go. March 10, 2010 - 8:32 am Posted by AllstarMe

Ok I haven't updated this thing since the season ended. I promised my mom and everyone I'd focus on my studies so I did. A lot has gone on for me in football and life. So I figured I'd do a little run down.

I was named to the Freshman and Academic All-American teams. My mom was most proud of the Academic Team, my dad, of course Freshman All-American team. I was also named to the Second Team All-ACC. It was a huge honor. I have the awards hanging up in my apartment.

Finished my first year of college almost and I have a 3.96 GPA. So I think I've done pretty well balancing everything. Except girls. But they're a dime a dozen and always end up at my feet.

Coach and the staff put out their new ratings for this season. I'll just run down some of the keys ones for me.

                  93 Overall
                  97 Speed
                  87 Strength
                  85 Awareness
                  85 Tackle

I feel great, and am really ready to step up as one of the leaders on our young defense this season.

Little Preview July 4, 2010 - 10:59 am Posted by AllstarMe

Happy Independence Day. Figured I'd do one more update on the guys before we kickoff next year. ESPN has us as the favorite to win the ACC. We were last year, and just barely lost to Maryland so I hope we can get back and prove ESPN right this time.

We have a lot of new starters, especially on offense. Sophomore Marcus Davis is going to be our QB this year. He's a lot like Ty, fast and has a good arm, and he still has Jarrett and Danny to throw to. I think we're gonna be alright on offense...our defense is just as sick, if not more so then last year. I can't wait to get it started.

I hate to say the girls in Blacksburg are easy...but they are. Lol It's hard to find one that doesn't just want to get with you because you're on the team.

Weird, we play central michigan, then western michigan. Nine home games this year? How'd we pull that one out.

                            What's a Chippewa? August 29, 2010 - 1:03pm Posted by AllstarMe

Who cares? I think it's native american for crappy. Anyway, our offense started really slow. In fact the defense scored a touchdown before they did, and we scored ours late in the first half, but they really did come alive in the second half. Guys like Tyrod Taylor are going but we do have a lot of weapons still.

Something about playing in the rain just isn't for me, a lot of guys like it but give me 70 degrees and sunny any day of the week.

                            1 Sack

I won't blame the weather for this crappy start, but I will not allow myself to get into a sophomore slump. I'm one of the leaders on this defense, and I need to do that...lead. By example preferably. Hopefully I get it all worked out by the time the real opponents start coming to town.

Lane Stadium September 5, 2010 - 1:03pm Posted by AllstarMe

I absolutely love playing in Lane Stadium. I know I've played in a lot of places, but it's just such a fun place to play. It's quite possibly the loudest place I've ever been in my life, and I thank god that it's my home stadium.

What's with the rain honestly? I hope it stops raining at games because there is almost nothing worse then just being soaked and miserable all game. It's the beginning of September, but it was like 55 and rainy today.

Western Michigan really came to play today. That kid they have in the backfield is one of the best backs I've played against so far in college. They tied it up on us with like 1:30 left, but the offense did great and marched it down the field for a short field goal to win it. It would have been pretty crappy to lose to Western Michigan...at home...this early in the season.

                                2 Sacks

This was my first multi-sack game since last year. I nearly had a few more, but it just seemed every time I was called to blitz there was a lane to the quarterback open for me. Like a highway with my name on it.
