What can I say about a team that runs the ball 90% of the time? Lots of opportunities to pick up some tackles.

I feel really disrespected by the fact that we beat the #1 team in the nation, and we only moved up two spots. That weighed on our minds deeply as we prepared to take on the Orange.
I also got the biggest honor I've ever received, being named defensive captain. It meant a lot to me knowing my teammates look up to me, and look to me for leadership. I know I can provide it to the younger guys.
Syracuse is a perennial doormat, and we treated them as such. We blitzed, we caused havoc, and we made them earn every yard. Despite a few lapses, we dominated play from start to finish.

Second big game in a row for me. I feel at home this season, and like the defense is funneling people to me. I love Blacksburg right now, and I hope we can keep winning.

So Damn Close September 25, 2011 - 5:01pm Posted by AllstarMe
Sorry about how late this is coming out. I know I usually post them early in the day the day after games, but I was busy moving into my new apartment. Lots of "free money" lying around here.
We led 24-10 going to the fourth, and then the fumbilitis took over on the offensive side of the ball. They turned it over two times inside our own thirty, and North Carolina took advantage, punching it in both times, and eventually taking the 31-24 win.

I played well again, but it hurt to have such a big lead and then lose it. We're going to get killed in practice this week, I know it.

Option Buffet October 2, 2011 - 7:45am Posted by AllstarMe
I love going to Annapolis, and have always gone there to see college games. So I've been in the stadium before, but it felt so different to actually be down on the field, playing in a game for the first time.
I love to eat up on option teams, they have so many tells it's almost impossible for them to run on us, and they didn't. Navy managed just 84 yards of offense, and 6 yards rushing on 27 carries. How insane is that. The game just felt great, and I really hope we can get back on a roll.

37 tackles in the last three games, I've really started to hit my stride as a leader of the defense. Ever since I was named captain I just feel that I'm playing with so much more confidence.

Upset Special October 9, 2011 - 11:15am Posted by AllstarMe
We were pumped for Oregon State to come in, but I wish they would have stayed out there in Oregon. We took a good early lead, but our offense really struggled in the later part of the game, and that's what killed us.
We forced a lot of turnovers, including a pick by yours truely, but it just wasn't enough to overcome some very sloppy play on offense. Story of my life here in Blacksburg. Oh well, I won't be here much longer anyway.

I'm hot, I'm on fire, but I wish our damn offense could get something going instead of playing with their thumbs up their asses.

This being my third year, we still haven't played every ACC team. Finally we got a chance to take on Clemson, and I was really looking forward to it. I remember growing up cheering for them to get slaughtered every week.
They played a different style then most ACC teams, they came out passing but then really tried to pound the ball out of the shotgun. It was different to see, but we did a good job of shutting it down until the game was far out of hand.

First game without 10 tackles in a while, but I'll take it. It felt really good to get a win, and I hope we keep doing it.

Boston College tomorrow, 72 tackles through 7 games, only had 85 in 13 last year. Playing a lot better.

Rollin Rollin Rollin October 23, 2011 - 11:40am Posted by AllstarMe
We've really been playing a lot of run first, run second, maybe pass third teams this season. I think that's one of the reason my tackles are up, but another might just be another year in our system, and really feeling at home for the first time in a Virginia Tech uniform.
It felt good to really beat down an opponent, and the best part was that I finally recovered a fumble, and this time it was in the end zone for a touchdown. It felt so great to score another touchdown, I know i won't have many chances to do it, so I'm thankful every chance I do get to score.

This was one of the most full games I have ever had. I got the tackles, I got to the quarterback, I forced fumbles, and I even scored a touchdown. What could be better? Who could ask for more?

If we beat Miami, we're in the driver's seat for the Coastal Division.
