Scoring Summary
|
These are the types of games we remember most.. DO NOT let the final score deceive you. Check out the scoring summary if you don't believe what hole the Broncos had to climb out of. This was a test.. a true test and I learned an awful lot about my team against the Ravens. We were manhandled during the first half.. truly.
-gashed thru the middle
-could not stop Ray Rice or Todd Heap or anything that went in the middle of the field
-could not establish the run
-Tim Tebow looked nervous rushing his throws and could not complete anything at all and frankly I thought that he was in over his head
-down 17-3 with the first half ending.. it looked bad, it looked like my team did not belong on the same field as the Ravens, bluntly.
We stayed true to our gameplan, we kept rushing the ball.. truthfully, what other option did I have?? If I abandoned the run and left it to Tebow, we would've been blown out beyond belief. So we grinded it out.. kept grinding.. eventually, the Ravens got tired.. and my guys.. they got stronger.. and as soon as we got that lead, even though it was a mere 4 pts.. the Ravens crumbled not being able to force anything down the field with Champ and Bingo locking their receivers down.
Fighting thru ADVERSITY against a tough opponent.. I am glad my team won but I am even happier to learn this about them; they will not fold. They will not go and retreat, they will keep fighting no matter what. I couldn't ask for more

Honestly speaking, I'd rather have a game like this where where my team's resolve is tested and their true character revealed rather than a 50 point blowout where we own from the start.
Game Passing Stats:
Game Rushing Stats: Even though nothing went right for me in the 1st half.. I stayed true to the gameplan and kept rushing the ball and eventually wore the Ravens down. Ray Rice is a great back btw.. he was nearly unstoppable.
Game Receiving Stats: their most damaging receiver is 4th on their depth chart.. it makes sense with Bingo and Champ negating their top receivers.. the TE's, RB's and 4th string wideouts are the most productive
THE GOOD
--learned a lot about my team, they're fighters and will never give up no matter how bad things get
--Tim Tebow and the 2 minute drill.. something magical happens here and he simply scores TDs during the drill.. and surprisingly he plays his best in the 4th qtr.. it could be coincidence or is it them "intangibles" everyone talks about? hmm..
--LB Elvis Dumervil is my MVP on defense, point blank. The D wouldn't be as good without him flying all over the field.. he is controlled chaos. Sacks, tackles, coverage, he does it all!
THE BAD
--have to figure out a way to scheme better coverage for the middle of the field.. I am very susceptible to TE's and slot receivers and RB's circling there
THE HIGHLIGHTS
QB Joe Flacco tests Champ Bailey early
Tebow with a perfect pass to keep the drive alive which leads to the game-leading score
Tim Tebow's BEST PLAY OF THE GAME! This was 2nd and 1 on the 1 yd line, I call a PA FLOOD and what does he do? well.. watch
Marcus Allen reborn? I love Diamond's moves near the goalline, look at the guy just miss that tackle
Champ Bailey sealing the deal, game over
