      Week 5 - Vs. Northwestern

      Gophers Cruise to Another "W"

      @

The Gophers are sure making it look easy this year. The offense is clicking and the defense is making it look easy, but we're not sure how. Looking at the schedule, the hardest parts lie ahead, and they are basically winning games they were supposed to win. Their only loss came against USC. We all figured they would have a good shot at at least going .500 for the year, but they will have to keep playing well if they want to have any shot at finishing in the top 4 of the Big Ten. They did have 4 straight games at home, so it will be interesting to see how they play on the road now.

The Northwestern Wildcats had two turnovers, and weren't able to convert on the opening kickoff fumble by Brandon Green. This set the tone for the whole game in which the Gophers defense played well forcing 3 turnovers and forcing 2 more fumbles that they were unable to pick-up. They are playing an aggressive style and must continue if they want to have success against Wisconsin. This is a huge road game, and could define where the Gophers will be sitting at come the rest of the year.

Yeah, this game against Wisconsin will be really hard. I have a lot of road games left, so it's going to be really hard to continue playing this well.

            Thanks for checkin' in.

                Week 5 - @ Wisconsin

                Gophers Pull Off Upset!

The Gophers were supposed to get slaughtered against Wisconsin. The Battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe seemed like it was going to be an easy win for the Badgers, but the Gophers were able to overcome the opening kickoff fumble by Troy Stoudermire. The Gophers haven't been able to gain control of Paul Bunyan's Axe since 2003. This is a huge win in Madison, and could set the stage for a memorable season.

After fumbling the opening kickoff, it seemed like this day was going to be doomed, but the offense would respond and tie the game at 7-7. The Gopher's defense held strong throughout the entire game stopping the Badgers' offense multiple times within the red zone. It was a huge team effort, however, even with all the stops, the Badgers were still able to put together an 80 yard drive to cut the score 21-19. The Gophers defense would hold strong, and get a sack on the 2-point conversion try. After the onside kick was recovered by the Gophers, 3 QB kneels sealed the deal.

                @

The Gophers go to Purdue and hope to continue a stellar start to the season.

Haha, you've seemed to have no trouble before, so it shouldn't be too big of a challenge. Good luck!

I have quite a few guys in the league leaders which is really surprising. It starts to get hard here in a few weeks, so we'll see if I can keep it up.

                          Week 6 - @ Purdue

                          Gophers Win in Shootout

Adam Weber continues his torrid pace, but with throwing all these balls, there's bound to be interceptions. Weber threw 5 touchdowns to help the Gophers achieve the win, but he also threw 3 interceptions which we all know are killers. That being said, just a great effort by the Gophers today. They were down by 14 points multiple occasions and somehow found a way to win.

The last drive to put the Gophers ahead 42-35 had to be one of the best of the season for the Gophers as they were able to mix in a good amount of run and pass to finally culminate in a 21 Yd Duane Bennett touchdown run. Purdue scored enough points to win, but weren't able to hold the Gopher's offense off the board.

The Gophers play next week at home vs Penn State. They hope to keep it going next week.

                            Recruiting Update

The Gophers were able to land 3 new recruits this week bringing in 3 3* recruits. Most of them were brought in to fill positions of need, but all of them being quality players will help fill out the overall depth of the team. Coach Jeff Horton is getting a good long, look at being the long-term coach with his start. He has 9 more players on his radar, so we'll see if he can pull them all in.

Week 8 - vs. Penn State

                                Gophers' INT's End Streak

The Gophers held a 17-3 lead at one point, but eventually would fall to Penn State in a 31-17 heart-wrenching loss. Adam Weber threw 5 INT's and when he was replaced by Marqueis Gray who proceeded to throw 2 INT's and let the Nittany Lions gain the win.

It's a gut-wrenching loss for the Gophers since beating Wisconsin, they have gone on to lose another 2 in a row, but you have to be excited with where the Gophers are at. They need to get back to the run and need to make better throws. Throwing 7 INT's is not a recipe for success.

The Gophers play host to the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in which 9 recruits will be visiting.
