6 INTs? Haas is definitely no Kellen Moore.

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
Haas is a 76 Overall. Which is pretty solid for a 4* QB, but he does have pretty decent Speed 74, and Awareness for a FR 71.
Granted my RS FR on my team are rated higher, but they are not a Herbie so I wanted to give Haas a chance to keep the starting job. So far he has played well enough I think. Obviously he is going to have to step up with Howard out for the next 8 weeks.Comment

WEEK 7 RECAP
BRONCOS MOVE UP TO #7
GAME RECAP
With the #1 Running Back in the country (Robertson Howard) on the sidelines with a torn pectorial, it was FR QB Corey Haas looking to step up and show he could be the bigtime QB that Coach Pete was hoping for.
Haas would throw for 2 TD's and run in another score as helping BSU take a 24-7 lead at the half. Haas would connect with FR Matt Lykell on their 2nd TD pass of the day in the 3rd Quarter to give the Broncos the 31-7 lead, but the Aztecs would battle back connecting on 2 Field Goals to make it 31-13. Not wanting to risk any starters from getting hurt, Coach Pete would put in the reserves for some valueable PT in the 4th, but neither team could find the endzone.
FINAL SCORE BSU-31 SDSU-13
KEY PLAYERS
QB C. Haas-25/54 358 yds 3 TD, 2 carries 16 yds 1 TD
RB M. Kaiserman-18 carries 57 yds
WR M. Lykell-9 rec 162 yds 2 TD
WR E. Bray-9 rec 127 yds
WR C. Potter-3 rec 33 yds 1 TD
POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH PETE
"It was great to see Corey throwing the ball well. I thought he did a excellent job of getting FR WR E. Bray involved early and it payed off both he and Lykell had great games. Our Running game struggled as Matt failed to produce any big runs, but it was just good enough to keep SDSU honest."
SOMEBODY WILL GET A LOSS!!
GAME PREVIEW
The Cowboys came into the game with a 3-0 record vs the WAC and were looking to make their claim for the WAC crown with a win over the Eagles.
EWU entered the game with a huge question mark at QB. FR Charles Tood would be starting his 1st game after playing well in the 4th Quarter in the Eagles win over New Mexico.
GAME RECAP
The Cowboys would dominate the 1st half as QB A. Carta-Samuels threw for 3 TD's and Charles Todd struggled going just 7/18 for 121 yds and a INT. EWU would get on the scoreboard as RB D. Stewart broke loose on a 22 yd run but the Eagles would still trail 24-7 at the half.
Coach Baldwin would make a bold move benching Todd to start the 2nd Half and replacing him with FR M. Wilson who had started the year as the starter before being replaced by T. Peoples in Week 4.
It would be the running game however that would give the Eagles hope in the 3rd Quarter. Stewart would score his 2nd TD of the game with 5 minutes to play in the 3rd (13 yd run) but Wyoming would answer back with Carta-Samuels 4th TD of the day, then with 1:51 to play and Stewart on the bench dealing with a back injury it was backup RB D. Johnson breaking off a huge 66 yd run to again get the crowd excited. That excitement however would soon cease to exsist as Carta-Samuels connects on a huge 78 yd pass play to WR C. McNeill to make it 38-21 going into the 4th.
Wilson would open the 4th with a TD pass to B. Kauffman and then after a Carta-Samuels INT, EWU again would get into the endzone as Stewart reenters the game to go 28 yds for his 3rd TD of the day to make it 38-35 with 4 minutes to play. Wyoming would look to run off some time before having to settle for a 39 yd FG with 2:23 to play, but EWU still had a chance. With 2 timeouts the Eagles would need a Touchdown to win. Wilson would connect on 4/4 passes to drive his team down field and with 1:04 to play, Stewart would break off a huge run as he goes 24 yds for the score as the EWU crowd and sidelines goes wild. However the play would would not stand, as their lied a bright yellow flag at the line of scrimmage. Center K. Wilcox was called for holding (his 3rd of the day). Now with a 3rd and 20, Wilson was forced to go to the air and looked for Brandon Kauffman to make a play. Kauffman would come up with a huge catch to take it down to the 5 yd line setting up a 4th and 1!!.
Rather then give the ball to Stewart and hope the RB could get the 1st down, Coach Baldwin put it in the hands of his QB and the D-Line would come up with a huge stop as the Eagle fans went silent.
FINAL SCORE EWU-35 WYOMING-41
KEY PLAYERS
QB M. Wilson-9/17 161 yds 1 TD
QB C. Todd-7/18 121 yds I INT
RB D. Stewart-22 carries 161 yds (7.3 Avg) 2 TD
RB D. Johnson-1 carry 66 yds
WR-11 rec 199 yds 1 TD
QB-24/33 378 yds 5 TD 1 INT
RB- A. Alexander-19 yds 88 yds, 5 rec 51 yds 1 TD
WR-C. McNeill-7 rec 174 yds 3 TD
WR D. Tooley-5 rec 85 yds 1 TD
POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH BALDWIN
"I know alot of people including myself will continue to question my decision to not hand the ball off to Stewart on the last play. I felt like the "D" was going to key on him and felt like Mike would be able to get the 1st down. I was wrong and they made a big play. It's disappointing because I Stewart and Kauffman both stepped up with huge plays when we needed them, but you have to give Carta-Samuels credit, because he did too.. Our "D" has carried us to several wins this season, but they came up with a huge stop today to give us a chance, but all the big plays we gave up just killed us"

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
Thanks. It's not like SDSU can put up much of a challenge, I typically don't have to big of a issue beating teams from the MWC. It's the non-confernce opponents that give me trouble.
Wyoming is good. I give them credit they made some big plays and my QB struggles are killing me. I am pretty happy though. I am #1 on a 4* QB who is the #8 in the nation from Texas. He didn't get any other scholarship offers so I was able to move past Texas,TAMU and TTU so far. I hope I can get him. He will be the answer to all my problems.Comment

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
WEEK 8-11 TEAM REPORT
BRONCOS MOVE TO #4 IN LATEST BCS RANKINGS
With wins in Week 8 over Utah State (41-0) and Week 9 (UNLV 37-0), the Broncos are now 8-1 Overall and 6-0 in the Mountain West and have moved to #4 in the Coaches Poll, #7 in the Media Poll and #4 in the BCS Polls.
The Broncos have 3 games remaining (Week 12- (4-6) Hawaii, Week 13, (7-2) Fresno State, and Week 14 against #25 (7-3) Virginia Tech. All 3 games are at Bronco Stadium where the home crowd is Avg close to 35,000 making Bronco Stadium the #2 Toughest Place to play.
PLAYER NEWS!!!
FR WR MATT LYKELL RACES FOR THE HEISMAN
WR Matt Lykell has been making huge plays all year for the Broncos and for that reason the Freshman is currently sitting at #2 in the voting for the Heisman behind SR RB Vincent Smith of Michigan.
Lykell is was also named a Semi-Finalist for the Maxwell (#11), the Walter Camp (#11) and is currenly the top vote getter (#1) for the Bilentnikoff Award which goes to the Best WR in College Football.
Lykell Stats-65 Rec 1199 yds 15 TD's
HAAS AND HOWARD CONTINUE TO IMPRESS
When Robertson Howard went down with a injury in Week 6, FR QB Corey Haas knew he would have to step up and so far he has. For his actions, Haas is currently a Semi-Finalist for the Davey O'Briend Award (#12) and is sitting at (#12) in the Maxwell vote.
Haas's Stats-146.5 QB Rating 148/253 (53%) for 2491 yds 21 TD's and 6 INT. He also has 150 yds rushing with 3 TD's.
Even though Robertson Howard hasn't played in 5 weeks, the Freshman still ranks #7 in the Nation in Rushing Yards with with 1226 yds on 150 carries and has 15 Rushing TD's. He currently is #10 in the Doak Walker voting and #12 in the Walter Camp voting.
Howard's Stats-150 carries 1226 yds (8.2 Avg) (204.3 yds per game) 15 TD's.
INJURY UPDATE
Robertson Howard is listed to miss the next 3 Weeks, which if it's true will be able to return in time for the Bowl game. WR Kirby Moore however isn't so lucky and will miss the next 5 weeks which in turn has ended his season. However the RS JR has been at every practice working with FR Matt Lykell and Eric Bay helping the team any way he can.
RECRUITING NEWS!!
BRONCOS LAND #1 RB FOR 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR!!
6'2 194 LB Wayne Faggan was listed as the #1 RB and #5 Overall player out of Fort Hood Texas. Coming out of High School he had every school in the nation recruiting him and making their pitch for his services, but when it was all over with Faggan had made up his mind. He wanted to go to Boise State. He turned down offers from (Oklahoma,LSU,Florida,Alabama,Texas,USC and Iowa).
Faggan-"I watched BSU beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl in 2007 and knew they were a team I would love to play for. Ian Johnson became one of my favorite players. He was a huge reason why I picked BSU in the end, because he is going to be my Running Back Coach. Also I had along talk with Howie (Robertson Howard) and he even told me he wanted me to come to Boise and prove that 2 feature backs and excell in this offense and now with his injury it just proves you should always have 2 amazing backs. Look at what Oregon did with LJ and Barner, plus has Seastrunk and Williams as backups. For years USC,Oklahoma and Texas have all had a stable full of talented backs and Boise has even proven it can work with J. Avery,Doug Martin and DJ Harper"
BRONCOS GET 5 MORE EARLY COMMITTMENTS
With 55 Players returning next year including key guys at every major posistion, Coach Pete knew that this year's recruiting class would look different then years past. Instead of going for quanity and trying to sign 25 guys, he was going for quality looking to sign 10-15 players to replace the 12 Seniors on his roster.
Here is a look at 5 more early committments
5* ATH 6'0 212 lbs John Salas-Port Angles WA
Ranked #2 Overall, Salas has the ablity to play several posistions and probably won't make up his mind until he gets on campus.
4* OLB 6'5 183 lbs Jarod Johnson-Esperance WA
Ranked the #4 OLB. Johnson had scholarship offers from Penn State, Oklahoma and Alabama. Could be a Day 1 Starter.
4* OLB 6'1 211 lbs Keith Hansen-Phoenix AZ
Ranked the #8 OLB. Hansen will Battle fellow recruit Jarod Johnson for a starting job next year.
4* ATH Darrell Madison-Aurora IL
Ranked the #15 ATH. Madison choose BSU over his instate love Illinios. At this point he will probably Redshirt next season after deciding if he will play Offense or Defense for the Broncos.
4* Guard 6'5 300 lbs Matthew Mobley-Muskegon MI
Ranked the #5 Guard. Mobley has the potential to start Day 1. He turned down a Scholarship offer from Michigan.

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
WEEK 8-11 RECAP
EAGLES MAKE THE TOP-25!!
After the heartbreaking loss to Wyoming in Week 7, the Eagles went 3-0 over the past 4 weeks (Week 8-defeated New Mexico State 15-13, Week 9 - defeated San Jose State 29-28, and Week 11-defeated North Texas 20-17) to improve to 9-1 Overall and 5-1 in the WAC and are now ranked #18 in the Coaches and Media Poll and #19 in the BSC.
Coach Baldwin-"We are extremely excited about how we are playing right now. We still 2 very tough games left @ (6-3) Idaho and at home against (6-4) Rice, however Wyoming's 34-24 loss to Idaho last week still gives us hope that we will at least share a piece of the WAC crown. (Wyoming still must beat Colorado State)"
PLAYER/STAT NEWS
JR DE J. CEJA SHINES!!!
When Roland Williams graduated EWU never thought they would see another Defensive Player play at the level that Williams produced. (20+ Sacks over 2 seasons) well winning the Lombardi,Bednarik and Nagurski Awards, but Ceja is having one of those type of seasons. Currently #7 in the Nagurski vote and #2 in the Lombardi vote.
Ceja Stats-30 Solo Tackles, 23 TFL, 22 Assisted Tackles, and 8.5 Sacks.
WR BRANDON KAUFFMAN BREAKS MORE RECORDS!!
When Brandon Kauffman came to Cheney, Coach Baldwin knew he would be good. At 6'5 Kauffman has the size that scares every Defensive Coordintor in the nation and so far he has proved why.
Kauffman currently holds the EWU school record for Recieving TD's in a Game (5) Recieving TD's in a Season (15), Recieving Yards in a Career (3269), Recieving yds in a Game (298), Recieving Yards in a Season (1982) and Receptions in a Season (107).
The only school records he doesn have (211 Receptions in a Career- He has 209, 26 TD's in a Career-He has 21, and most Receptions in a game-14 (he has had 12 twice).
Kauffman Season Stats-70 rec 1097 yds 5 TD
Kauffman Career Stats-209 rec 3498 yds 21 TD
STEWART MAKES SOME NOISE
When Tajuan Jones graduated, every Eagle fan commented that they would never see a RB dominate the way he did. But little did they know that the very next season, a Freshman by the name of Dennis Stewart would prove them wrong. Stewart hasn't posted dominating #'s like TJ (2436 yds in a season with 36 TD's) but he has been the main reason why EWU is currently 9-1 and among the BSC Top-25.
Stewarts Stats-240 carries 1260 yds (5.2 Avg) 13 TD's.
QUARTERBACK CAROSEL CONTINUES.
FR Michael Wilson started the year, was benched, came back to take over the starting job, then broke his ankle and will miss the next 4 weeks. RS FR Charles Tood orginally started the year Redshirting but was pulled off his Redshirt and thrown into Action in Week 6 in a win over New Mexico, however his play was short lived as he head back to the bench being replaced by RS FR Terrence Peoples. Now with 2 games left to play and Wilson done for what looks like the rest of the season. It is Todd vs Peoples for the chance to guide the Eagles into a major Bowl and help them to a 10+ win season.
Wilson stats-87/196 1403 yds 6 TD 9 INT
Peoples Stats-28/78 414 yds 3 TD 2 INT
Todd Stats-27/66 340 yds 1 TD 2 INT
Brian James-0/5 1 INT
Coach Baldwin "At this point we will go with a rotation. Peoples will start the game and play the 1st Quarter. We will then go with Todd in the 2nd Quarter and whoever plays better will start the 2nd Half with a chance to finish the game. Brian James will serve as the #3 QB."
EAGLES LOOSE TOP PROSPECT TO TEXAS
For 8 Weeks, EWU lead the race to sign QB Victor Williams (#8 QB #138 Overall) out of San Marcos Texas. However in Week 7, Texas made a scholarship offer to the 6'2 QB and by Week 9 the Longhorns took over the #1 spot and in Week 10 Williams signed his letter of intent. Coach Baldwin's nightmare just got worse.
Now with his top prospect off the board, Coach Baldwin turned his attention to the remaining players. 23 Players Total. Needing players who can play both sides of the ball, Coach Baldwin targetted alot of Athletes looking for talent any where he could.

Coach Baldwin "We are excited about the remaining class and hope that either Brady or Williams will be able to come in and challenge the QB's we currrently have for the starting role next year. I hope that either Outlaw or Greene will give us another option at RB behind Stewart and we are currently looking at all of the Athletes as possible WR's as we have 4 SR's at that posistion including starters B. Kauffman and N. Edwards. (EWU had 6 SR on Offense with 4 WR, and 6 on Defense, with 56 players returning.)"Last edited by Deuce2223; 02-22-2011, 11:56 PM.Comment

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
I plan on updating how the Nation did Weeks 8-11 and Board Coaches as well tomorrow.
Hope to get in Week 12 as well, looking to try and finish this season up this week. Life has gotten busy, and work has gotten even worse. Seems like I have to go in on my days off just to try and make some money.
Thanks for reading and following along.. All comments are appreciated.
Because most of the Herbies are not getting much PT, I am just going to do a Season Recap of their Stats.Comment

Good write-ups. That kid is from San Marcos, Texas, huh? Too bad that place doesn't produce talent like that, but what do I know?
Oh, I answered your question about Boise State in my dynasty thread.Comment

Re: 2 Teams=2 Dreams (BSU and EWU Quest for Perfection)
Thanks for checking in. I was totally bummed when Texas made the offer. What sucks, is at Texas he will never be better then a 3rd Stringer. Yet had he come to EWU, he would've started for 4 years and had a chance to break all of Erik Meyer and Bo Levi Mitchell's records. I just wish I could get a better QB to transfer in, but with 4 current FR QB on my roster and 2 more possibily coming in it probably won't happen.Comment
