Bye Week: An Interview with Coach Reginald Crawford

Sean: We're here with the new coach of the Oakland Raiders Reignald Crawford
    Crawford: Thanks for Having Me

Sean: The Raiders have gotten off to a rough start, but last week you guys were able to pick up your first win against your divisional rivals the Denver Broncos, do you see this win as a turning point for the season?
Crawford: Oh yea sure, it's always a boost to get your first win, no matter how deep into the season. Everything we've been working twoards in the last few games finally came together in Denver.

Sean: How has the players accepted your scheme after spending an entire offseason forgetting their previous scheme, learning Dennis Allens scheme, then having to relearn your scheme.
Crawford: Well thats alot for players to handle in such a short time and i think they've handled it very well. We've been in every game so far and our win loss record doesn't exactly reflect the skill level of this team.

Sean: The Problems between you and Quarterback Carson Palmer has been well documented, he was very receptive of Allens new scheme, and was none too happy with the scheme you choose to impliment, has that had any correlation with his poor play on the field?
Crawford: Well first, i think Carson has been playing well with the situation he's in. And yes we've had some spouts in practice but Carson is a professional and hasn't let anything affect him between the white lines. He's a Gamer, through and through.

Sean: The defense has played exceptionally well, was that something you expected coming into the season.
Crawford: Well the Raiders organization did a great job acquiring athletes to make up their defense and they're been coming together incredibly well. Seymour has set an atmosphere in the locker, play hard and don't make mistakes. Can't ask for much more than that from these guys.

Next week you guys go up against an explosive offense in Atlanta, any thoughts about that?
Sean: Have a defense just as explosive.

    Sean: Thanks for your time
    Crawford: No problem. Go Raiders.

        Silver and Black Game Update

A Shoot Out Erupts in Atlanta, Ends in the Raiders Favor

Oakland -The Oakland Raiders returned from their bye-week in tip top shape as they were able to outlast the high octane offense of the Atlanta Falcolns.

The Oakland Raiders were able to move the ball efficiently in Sundays matchup out scoring the Falcolns 41-30 in front of the Atlanta fans. The Raiders fired on all cyllinders producing points from special teams (Jacoby Ford kick return), Through the Air (Three Passing Touchdowns and Palmers first 300 yard game of the season), and on the ground (Darren McFadden had 100 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown). Matt Ryan and the Falcolns were equally as efficient passing for 351 yards (177 of those going to Roddy White), and picking up over 100 yards on the ground. Both Darrius Heyward-Bey and Roddy White brought in two touchdowns for their teams.

"In games like this you just have to keep playing at a high level," said Quarterback Carson Palmer, "Sometimes you just have a feeling that a high scoring game is coming."

Both team defense were a nonn factor in the game getting torn up on both pass and rush plays. Matt Shaughnessy and Phillip Wheeler were the only Raider players to record sacks and Shawnea Spencer came away with the teams only interception. Aaron Curry lead the game in tackles with 10.

The Raiders are going to have to go into Jacksonvilles matchup without probowl safety Tyvon branch who went down with Broken Thumb in todays game. He'll most likely be back in 3 weeks.

Next the Raiders welcome Maurice Jones-Drew and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Raiders Send Oakland Crowd Home Happy, drop Jags 33-20.

Oakland Lose Jacoby Ford to Injury, Moore steps in role

Oakland -The Raiders winning ways continue with the help of Carson Palmer and Darrius Heyward-Bey newfound chemistry.

The Oakland Raiders came into today's game riding a wave of momentum that began three weeks prior in Denver. Carsen Palmer and Darrius Heyward-Bey led the offense combining for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jacoby Ford, who went down with an injury during the game, would add his second special teams touchdown of the season. Palmer's improved play has been instrumental in the Raiders success in the last few games.

"well of course, if you limit your mistakes you put your team in a better place to win," said Head Coach Reginald Crawford, "He's been making all the right throws and it shows on the score board."

The Raiders talented defense bothered the Jag offense the entire game. Defensive end Matt Shaughnessy abused the Jag O-line to the tune of 3 sacks and 5 solo tackles. Matt Giordano continued his steller play in Michael Huffs absence by picking off Chad Henne for his third interception so far this season. The Raiders were able to hold probowl running back Maurice-Jones Drew to 63 yards on 23 carries which forced the Jags to almost completely ignore the run in the 2nd quarter. Chad Hennes only success in the passing game came when attempting to connect with Laurent Robison who broke off 4 huge receptions, totalling 220+ yards and 2 touchdowns.

Next week the Raiders travel to Kansas City to face Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs.

Raiders Avoid Another 4th Quarter Meltdown in Kansas City with Win

                    Oakland Outlast KC 22-17

Oakland -The Oakland Raiders stormed into Kansas City riding a storm of momentum which they used to outlast the Chiefs 22-17.

The Raiders came into sundays matchup hoping to extend their win streak to four games. The Raiders offense was kept at bay for the majority of the first half, and were held to 2 FGs. The only other points in the first half coming from a safety by Curry. The Raider defense controlled the game, holding the Chiefs off the score board until the 2nd half. The Chiefs last ditch effort came in the 4th quarter, but the rally would fall short.

"We have ourselves a good group of guys on D," said Head Coach Reginald Crawford, "They play tough and force mistakes, gotta love it."

Carson Palmer played a causitous game today, rarely taking shots down field, and regulating the tempo of the offense through the Tailbacks.

Next Week Safety Tyvon Branch returns to the lineup as the Raiders take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I'd suggest just updating us on some of the top defenses offenses, and stat leaders.
