    Silver and Black Game Update

Raiders Can't Get Anything Going, Lose 24-10

Former Heisman Trophy winner Matt Lienart manufactured the teams only touchdown

Oakland - The Raiders magic carpet ride ends in embarrasing fashion at home. The Raiders were unable to get anything started on offense as Tampa Bay easily rolled over the Black and Silver.

Raiders Quarterback Carson Palmer was historically bad today, leaving the game with a paltry 5.1 QBR in the 4th Quarter. Coach Crawford decided that he had saw enough after his 10th incompletion in a row and pulled the former Pro Bowler for former 1st Round Pick Matt Leiinart. Matt Leinart would try his best to bring back the team, throwing the teams only touchdown to TE Bo Scaife in the 4th, but time was not on his side, and the Buccaneers were able to run out the clock and take home the win.

"When Coach told me i was heading into the game it defiantly caught me off guard.," said Quarterback Matt Lienart, "We were still in the game, i just didn't see a QB change coming."

Tampa Bay QB Josh Freeman and TE Dallas Clark had little trouble finding each other connecting for almost 200 yards and a touchdown in 3 quarters. There was an obvious missmatch with Curry slotted to cover Clark early in the game. Which was addressed in the 4th Quarter, too late to save this one.

Next week doesn't get any easier as the Raiders travel to Baltimore to take on arguably the best team in football, Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens.

Palmer needs to go....like before the end of the season. I'd take anyone on FA list to replace him.

Well you got two ways to go...keep him and drive the team into the ground to get a high first rounder or just bench him. If your goal is just for one game, it ain't worth the agony of your readers.

hey man thanks for following, i'm using M13s killer sliders, with a few tweaks. I had to tweak them to fit my skill level. So far i think its been pretty even on both sides. if i blow coverage, they'll take advantage.

An Interview with Coach Reginald Crawford

Sean: Welcome back readers, we're here again with Head Coach Reginald Crawford, how are you doing Coach?
Crawford: Well, things could be better after last week, but other than that, couldn't be better

Sean: And by last week, your talking about the loss against Tampa Bay?
Crawford: That would sum it up. Everybody likes to say putting a loss behind them is easy, but in a season with only 16 games, those losses sting for a little longer than usual.

Sean: Well Coach, a big part of that loss was the extremely poor play of Carson Palmer. You felt the need to bench him in the 4th quarter for Lienart, how did Palmer react to the benching?
Crawford: He was very stoic. I told him he was done for the day and he kind of just nodded and took his seat. I can't say i expected him to explode or anything, but a little enthusiasm would have been nice.

Sean: Statistically, Carson Palmer has been the worst quarterback in the league, ranking dead last in QBR. How long do you plan on sending Palmer out there if his poor play continues?
Crawford:Sean i'll tell you this, Palmer is my Quarterback next week against Baltimore. The future is the future and will be handled when the time comes. But right now, Palmer is my guy.

Sean: Has your gameplan had to change to address Palmers turnovers?
Crawford: No not really, we always want to get the ball to our Running Backs, thats not going to change.

Sean: Last question Coach. Next week you guys take on Joe Flacco, who currently leads most passing catergories, any plans on how to neutralize him?
Crawford: Flacc is an exceptional Quarterback, but i feel like our Dline will be able to pressure him enough to disrupt his rythmn..

Sean: Hey thanks again for coming to the show
Crawford: Always a good time, see you sunday.

                    Silver and Black Game Update

Fourth Quarter Issue Return in Frustrating Loss to Ravens

The Raiders gave up two huge receptions to Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin that would set up a last second Ravens Field Goal

Oakland - The Raivens dropped the Raiders in familiar fashion behind a 12 yard Field Goal. This was the Raiders 3rd loss coming from a 4th quarter comeback.

The story to watch coming into the game surrounded Reginald Crawford and his struggling quaterback Carsen Palmer. Palmer, who was benched last game for Matt Leinart, bounced back delivering a solid game against an elite defense. The former All-Pro ended the game with a 92.0 QBR and a touchdown. The Ravens held the majority of the Raiders offense in check, including star running back Darren McFadden, who was held to 2.7 yards per carry and 70 yards.

"We came into the game knowing we were facing a top run defense," said Offensive Lineman Khalif Barnes, "Its always hard to get the run going when facing Ngata, Lewis and Reed."

Joe Flacco and Ray Rice tore up the Raiders defense for almost 500 yards combined. Most of Flaccos yards came from blown deep ball coverage, a problem that many had thought the Raiders had fixed after their first win.

The Play of the game , and maybe the Raiders season belongs to Ronaldo McClain and Tyvon Branch. Branch seemingly came out of no where to interception Joe Flacco. Before being tackled the safety would toss the ball to Middle Linebacker Ronaldo McClain who went on to break through a dog pile and return the toss for touchdown.

The Raiders will attempt to right the ship when they face off against the New Orlean Saints next week..

                      Silver and Black Mid-Week Update:

Denarious Moore Likely to Miss Four Weeks Due to Lingering Abdominal Tear

Oakland -Oakland Raiders receiver Denarious Moore is going to have to watch the next few games from the sidelines due to an Abdominal Tear picked up in the Raiders 26-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Denarious Moore joins fellow Reciever Jacoby Ford on the Raiders Disabled List. Moore, who steped in for Ford as the teams second Receiver, showed promise as the teams long ball option opposite Heyward-Bey. The Raiders injury problems have made the teams signing of Johnny Knox in the offseason seem alot more intelligent as he will have to step in as a starter when the team takes on the New Orlean Saints next week. Jacoby Ford is slated to return the following week.

Aaron Curry and Oakland Raiders Reach Agreement on Contract Extension

Oakland -The Raiders and ROLB Aaron curry have agreed on a 5-year $9.40 Million contract extension that will keep the Wake Forest product in the silver and black until at least 2016. Aaron Curry has had a resurgence in Oakland, wracking up 148 Tackles in 2011, and 46 through 10 games in 2012. He also has recorded a sack and an interception.

"I'm happy to be back in Oakland for the forseable future," said Curry. "Oakland is where i feel comfortable"

Raiders Show Clear Interest in Navy QB Dallas Johnson

Oakland - While scouts have been salivating over the skill set of Heisman hopeful quaterback Arnaz Boston, the Oakland Raider have had scouts focused on another prospect. Navy Quaterback Dallas Johnson. Johnson, who is quietly having one of the better seasons in college football has flown relatively under the radar, projected as a 5th round selection on Mel Kuipers big board. The big armed QB is the type of quarterback that can hit speedy recievers deep, a big weapon when coming into the Raiders organization. With Carson Palmer facing more and more pressure to perform, many experts have the Raiders selecting a Quarterback early in the draft, but if Johnson continues to fly under the radar, it's possible the Raiders might be able to pick up a diamond in the rough in the later rounds. The Raiders 2013 offseason just got that more interesting.

                          Silver and Black Game Update

Raiders Cause Five Takeaways in Win Against Saints

The Raiders Caused Three Interceptions, a Fumble and a Safety in Todays 25-23 Win

Oakland - The Raiders up and down season continues as the defense and the ground game was able to manufacture a win in todays matchup. The Raiders were able to cause five turnovers, including three interceptions from MVP candidate Drew Brees.

Alot of todays victory came from the ground game and timely defense. Running back Darren McFadden picked up another 100 yard rushing game, taking his seeason total over 1,000, he also was responsible for the teams only touchdowns. Matt Giordano, Phillip Wheeler, and Chimidi Chekwa all picked off Brees at one point, halting meticulous drives by Brees.

"Not to compare the two, but we've faced Flacco and Brees in the last two weeks, two QBS that are having great seasons," said Matt Giordano, "We've had our work cut out for us in the last few games"

Drew Brees and Marques Colston were able to connect for eight receptions and 157 yards, 80 of which came on an 80 yard touchdown pass. Darren Sproles was equally dynamic, taking the pressure off Brees and company and forcing the Raiders Safeties to respect the run.

Quarterback Carson Palmer had a pedestrian game completing 50% of his passes for less than 200 yards and no touchdowns. He also threw one interception in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders will travel to Cincy to take on AJ Green, "The Red Rocket" Andy Dalton, and the rest of the Bengals.

                            Silver and Black Mid-Week Update:

Peyton Manning Jumps Into Second Place on ALL-TIME Passing Touchdowns List

Denver -One of the National Football Leagues truely great players passed another milestone as he leapfrogged Dan Marino for second place all-time in passing touchdowns. The record breaking performance came in a 30-17 loss to the division leading San Diego Chargers. Manning, who returned from a serious neck injury this season after being let go by the Indianapolis Colts has had a strong year in Denver, passing for almost 3000 yards and 22 touchdowns. Manning is now 87 touchdown passes away from tying Brett Farve, and a little under 20,000 passing yards from taking first place all-time in that catergory.

Chimidi Chekwa takes home AFC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Oakland -Chimidi Chekwa was voted AFC Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar game agaisnt the Saints. The former Ohio Buckeye pretty much did everything a defensive player could do to help his team win. The cornerback collected five tackles, one sack, one interception, forced a fumble, and recovered a fumble in the 25-23 win over New Orleans. This is Chekwa's second AFC DPOW award, winning his first in Week Four. Chekwa is the only Raider to earn a POTW honors this season.

Draft Season Heats Up; Two Prospects Jump Up Big Boards

Oakland - The NFL Draft season is getting hotter and hotter with teams sending scouts all across the country to find that perfect player to step in and make an impact. Two impact players that scouts have defiantly taken notice of, is Pittsburger Linebacker and Nagurski Award winner Dave Crump and Troy University Tight End Leroy Johnson. Both are considered first round talents on many big boards. Crump is a punishing Linebacker in the mold of Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis, the Nagurski winner dominated college football in a way that got much of the country to take notice. He's still considered the number three Linebacker Prospect in the draft, but with Pro Days and the Combine still far over the horizon don't be suprised to see this athlete hop into the two or one spot. Leroy Johnson is another tight end in the mold of Vernon Davis or Anthony Gonzalez. He's a 6"4, 243 pound matchup nightmare, with the only knock against him being his poor blocking abilities. He's considered the number one Tight End prospect in the draft, but Andrew Hinds of Texas A&M and Lawrence Wesley of Ohio State are giving him a run for his money.

                                Silver and Black Game Update

Palmer's Return To Cincy Spoiled by Injury, Leinart Leads Raiders to Victory

Leinart entered in the 2nd Quater after Palmer exited with a bruised sternum, X-Rays were negative

Oakland - Carson Palmer's return to the city that drafted him was cut short after taking a huge hit in the early minutes of the second quarter. Backup Quarterback Matt Leinart would go on to lead the Raiders to a 41-35 victory against the stout Cinncinati Bengals.

Matt Leinart instantly got the offense going with an early touchdowns to Jacoby Ford and Darrius Heyward-Bey putting the Raiders up 24-14 going into the half. Leinart would finish the game with four touchdowns and 350 yards in a little under three quarters of play.

"Games like these are why having a backup QB you can rely on is such an important thing," said Reginald Crawford,

Darren McFadden had another MVP quality game rushing for 144 yards on 27 carries, but he was outdone by the running back for cincy, Benjavis Green-Ellis who rushed for 185 yards on the same amout of carries. Andy Dalton for the most part was aided by strong field position, as he capitalized on three turnovers by the Raiders. Ford fumbled on the kickoff to start off the second half which resulted in a touchdown pass to Green-Ellis. AJ Green was the Bengals leading receiver pickingup 125 yards on 3 recepctions, uncluding a 54 yard touchdown strike.

A major question going into the next game is whether Crawford will stick with Leinart for there game against the Browns in Oakland, Leinart played a very impressive game off the bench against an above average defense, and Palmer has been less than average for the majority of the season, but at the same time, Palmer has the Raiders in the playoff hunt. Crawford will have an important decision to make before the game against the Browns next week.

Note: Ronaldo McClain fractured his forarm during sundays game and is likely to miss three weeks.
