Re: No More Brady - A Ryan Mallett Patriots Story (Madden 13)

Ryan Mallett Suspended for 4 Games
          NFL Drug Abuse Policy

Foxboro, MA - A stunning turn of events in the story of Ryan Mallett overdosing on cold medication. Roger Goodell heard of the story and made Ryan Mallett go through a drug screening test. Tests came back positive for chemicals found in the restricted drugs section of the policy.

Mallett didn’t tell the league about the cold medicine before the test and, as a result, failed his urine test. Presumably something in that medication overlapped with one of the many banned substances. Mallett was taking a combination of Promethazine w/ Codeine, Claritin D 24-hour, and Cotabflu Oral.

Mr. Mallett had an obligation to check with the league before taking the medication, but the league itself needs to do a better job of informing the players and the teams that every thing they put into their bodies could lead to a positive test.

Someone in the league and officials within each team should scare their players to the point that even the delivered pizza or the fast food they eat at the drive-thru might very well lead to a positive test.

Along those same lines, the players union and the NFL need to come to some resolution about supplements. How often do we see that a player tested positive for a banned substance, and the reason wasn’t necessarily something egregious like steroids or HGH, but rather some element of a supplement that triggered a positive result?

Needless to say, the New England Patriots are astonished over this. They will obey the law of Goodell, though. Chad Sapozink may have a few more weeks as the Patriots starting QB while Mallett serves his suspension. The earliest Mallett could return is November 17th against the Philadelphia Eagles. We shall all wait and see what this rookie QB can do for us until then.

            2013 - Week #6

Versatili-D - Oklahoma RE Rudy Outlaw is being considered as the most versatile defender ever. He could play DT, DE, OLB, or MLB in the NFL.

Saints and Graham Ink New Deal - The Saints have decided to re-sign TE Jimmy Graham to a 6-year deal worth $50.0M.

Big Loss for Panthers - The big news for the Carolina Panthers this week is that DeAngelo Williams will be sidelined for at least several games with an injury.

No Time To Lose - At the end of Week 6, a number of teams around the league have put themselves in a good position moving forward with these indefeated starts.

Rewriting the Record Books - Write Tom Brady's name in pencil because he's going to keep climbing the all-time passing yards list. In other words, he won't be 9th all time for long.

Franchise Maker - Drew Brees is a red zone artist. He's moved past Fran Tarkenton into 4th place on the all-time passing touchdown list.

Worthy of the Hype - Drew Brees is passing all0time greats while still passing all over defenses. He's now above Fran Tarkenton on the all-time passing yardage list.

            See Who's Tweetin'
@RossTuckerEA - HUGE re-signing by the Saints. Totally changes the landscape in the NFC South.
@RossTuckerEA - I could play O-line an maybe TE. Rudy Outlaw can play every D position but DB. Rare talent, team first guy.
@RossTuckerEA - Always like when guys like Sam Bradford who maybe aren't 'stars' by some standards put up a big week. #NFCPoW
@SkipBaylessEA - Some of the thanks has to go to the defense that went up against BenJarvus Green-Ellis. #AFCPoW
@WingozEA - No doubt about it, Jarrett Bush is the NFC defensive player of the week.
@RossTuckerEA - Dimitri Patterson just made all the plays this week. #AFCPoW
@MarkSchlerethEA - DeAngelo Williams suffers a broken wrist and is going to be out several weeks. #breakingnews
@WingozEA - 9,000 yards and probably plenty more to follo for Adrian Peterson
@MikeHillEA - Tom Brady will not end as 9th on the all-time passing yards list, he'll keep rising.
@WingozEA - No one's going undefeated. By week 10 everyone will have a big fat L on their resume.
@RoFloEA - You have to tune in each week to see Drew Brees just to see what will happen next. #recordwatch
@MattMillerEA - Now 6th on the all-time list, Drew Brees is passing his way to the hall of fame.
@MarkSchlerethEA - Got to see the highlights from the Rams game, what a day for Sam Bradford.
@WingozEA - "Touchdowns for all!" That was Sam Bradford's motto this week.
@RoFloEA - Parity will conquer these undefeateds. I don't even see one 14-win team in the bunch.

                      Run for the Money
                      Ridley is unstoppable...
                      PATRIOTS 24 - Raiders 17

Oakland, CA - The winless Raiders are still that...WINLESS! The Patriots came into town and didn't give the Raiders a chance. The only bright spot for Oakland was the ground game from Mr. DMC (Darren McFadden).

Sapozink in his second start finally came back down to rookie level. He threw three picks in the contest, but none of them came back for any points. He still has 3 more games to prove himself before Mallett finishes his suspension.

Stevan Ridley is the man of the day, chewing up over 100 yards on the ground and putting home 2 more touchdowns. That brings his 6-point total to 7 TDs.

Nothing spectacular on the receiving front as the air game was spread between all receivers. Brandon Lloyd was able to pick up almost 100 yards due to a couple of long catches he made today.

The Patriots easy schedule heads to Miami next to take on the 1-win Dolphins. This game should prove easy and I would like to see more of Sapozink in the air. Sunny and warm Florida, here we come....

Keep to the Lawn - Stevan Ridley was a star on the ground this week in the Patriots' 24-17 win over the Raiders.
@SCollinsEA - Does Stevan Ridley have cooties? The D let him waltz into the endzone for 2 TDs.

Raiders Fail to Protect their House - The New England Patriots came away with a win agains the Oakland Raiders this week.
@MikeHillEA - Raiders will have trouble sleeping after that loss to the Patriots.

It was a cross over the middle and Kelly decided not to rush during the play

                                2013 - Week #7

Frank Gore Back for Upcoming Game - The 49ers are looking forward to having Frank Gore back on that field as he's healthy now and ready to get back to work.

Tiger Time - Virginia Tech Junior QB Tiger Frazier has emerged as a Heisman contender.

Deal Inked - Baltimore Ravens have signed celebrated wide recever Anquan Boldin to a 5-year contract extension worth $35M.

Reservation Point - Both the Cowboys and Tony Romo are at a stalemate as the two cannot agree on a new contract extension.

Early Vacation - Justin Smith is considered one of the best in the league at his position, but his 2013 season is officially over as of today.

Parity - The Bills had built up a nice streak of wins before falling 27-24 to the Chargers this week.

Owning the Ball - No disputing the impact Greg Jennings had on today's game as he had 2 TD grabs and helped secure a win for the Packers.

Paydirt Machine - Matt Forte ran all over the Eagles in a 39-22 win for the Bears.

                                See Who's Tweetin'
@RoFloEA - Great re-siging for the Ravens. But they could have signed me for a quarter of that.
@MarkSchlerethEA - If the Cowboys know what's good for them, they'll make another push for Tony Romo.
@ToddMcShayEA - Keep an eye on Tiger Frazier. He keeps poking his head into the Heisman conversation.
@SkipBaylessEA - Can't say enough how HUGE it is to get Frank Gore back on the field.
@LArringtonEA - Nothing new for Matt Forte to get some publicity. #NFCPoW
@RossTuckerEA - Wonder if this is an anomaly that Jerome Simpson stepped up, or he's here to stay. #AFCPoW
@RossTuckerEA - If Michael Dorsey wants to be part of scouting reports, this is how you do it. #NFCPoW
@Donny_Moore - Two things are certain this week...1) Michael Dorsey is not playing like a rook 2) Somebody getting some Madden Ratings love in the #RosterUpdate
@RossTuckerEA - Tim Cox just made all the plays this week. #AFCPoW
@SkipBaylessEA - Here's some breaking news: Matt Forte wouldn't be much of a star if the opposition could tackle.
@MarkSchlerethEA - As a teemate, nothing prepares you when you hear a guy like Justin Smith will be out for the year.
@mortreportEA - Per sources, RE Justin Smith is lost for the rest of the year. #IR
@MarkSchlerethEA - Got to see the highlights from the 49ers game, what a day for Alex Smith.
@RossTuckerEA - Nice moment for Joe Flacco this week, he eclipsed 20,000 passing yards.
@MattMillerEA - Every team has lost a game this season. What are we going to talk about for the rest of the season?
@SkipBaylessEA - There's a fine line between being lucky and good. I'll let you decide what I think Greg Jennings was this week.
