NCAA Football News:
MLB John Lugo suspended for the second time this season for kicking a Boston College fullback.

Raiders and Chiefs are on the menu for Thanksgiving this year.

Colts OLB Dwight Freeney is done for the year after tearing his pectoral muscles and placed on IR. He will need 6 months to recover.

Ravens DE Haloti Ngata will miss the rest of the season with a fractured shoulder blade. He was placed on IR today.

Raiders WR Corey McCants suffered an injury (broken jaw) and will be out 3 weeks.

The 49ers run at perfection ends at 9 as the team lost to the Seahawks 33-24. Marshawn Lynch piled up 141 yards and a TD in the game.


Raiders News

Scouting:

The team took a look at LT Wade Gasper, who's been in the news recently. While he's not a bad looking prospect, good blocking technique and willing to stand and fight in the trenches, he doesn't impress scouts any more than Ciante Price, whom the team could likely get in a lower round...and lower salary slot...

WR Alex Givens piqued the teams interest on tape. With D'Andre Ware and Corey McCants being disappointing, the team started looking a bit at the wide receivers. Alex is a big target, 6' 4", 242 lbs, and moves well for his size. He isn't afraid to use his body to make the tough catch, but the team will want more information on him.

FS DaVonte Chapelle is looking more and more interesting as the weeks go on. The combination of speed and power tackling along with decent coverage has the team considering him more highly, but that lack of awareness as some in the organization still arguing against him, even though Bracey, the team's current starter at FS, is much the same way.

Haha! Either that or he was mad he couldn't run so he just threw the ball anyway.

They put up a heck of a fight - would have likely won if Newton didn't throw the game away.

Back-to-Back OT Victories
Pryor Injured, Run Game Takes Over as
Raiders Outlast Hot Cassel, Chiefs 36-30

Raiders faced an injury to Pryor early in the game and on top of that, the opposing QB, Matt Cassel came out firing bullets like he was Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform. The pass coverage had no answers, and Dwayne Bowe was the big recipient all day long.

"It didn't matter what I called in the huddle, " McClain commented, "They were just picking us apart and figuring out anything we tried to disguise. It was rough, but I guess we did enough."

In the first half, Cassel was as high as 93% completion percentage, and was finding the deep ball as well as the shorter completions. Bowe had 2 TDs and Jeremy Shockey racked up 128 yards.

On the Raiders side, Josh Johnson made a good throw to Randall Cobb for a TD, but he didn't find much success, but also avoided a turnover. Otherwise, Lyle turned to the running game, primarily Caulder.

He responded in a big way. Caulder had trouble early on getting rhythm, but his patience paid as the Raiders kept trying different runs to find a weakness. He did, and the Chiefs would see more than enough of the young power back.

In all, Caulder carried the rock 42 times. The yards were tough yards as he managed just 3.9 yards per carry, but netted 3 TDs, including the game winning TD in overtime.

Steven Grant got some work as well and benefited from Caulder's pounding attack. Grant's 14 carries compiled 91 yards.

"We worked well together. They let Julio [Caulder] do the heavy lifting and I just made them wear down more trying to chase me around. I was hoping they'd let me run it in from the one yard line in OT. Man, I was mad at myself for not being able to get it across, " Grant smiled, "But I can see why they rewarded him with the game winner. He deserved it."

Josh Johnson picked up some key first downs in that overtime drive, one that spanned 13 plays and 79 yards, most of which came on the ground. Johnson ran 3 times in overtime, each run adding a first down.

Defensively, the Raiders did shut down Jamaal Charles. The speedy halfback had nowhere to go all day long, gaining just 30 yards on 22 carries and losing a fumble. Brandon Madison caused the fumble, which is unusual as he's not known for his hitting power. The rookie is starting to get some love in the locker room for his turnover generating lately.

Other than that, it was basically the Rolando McClain show. He picked up 15 tackles. No other Raider had more than 6.

Of the receiving yards that were gained, Moore had 94 of them to lead the way on six receptions. Cobb had just 37 yards, but the lone passing TD. Reece had just 23 yards, but each of those also converted first downs and kept the Chiefs a little apprehensive to run blitz too often.

Despite the adversity facing the offense, the Raiders committed no turnovers. The Chiefs allowed just one, which the Raiders turned into Caulder's first rushing TD, a walk-in score from 6 yards out.

The win ensured sole possession of 1st place in the AFC West and moved the team to 8-3.

That is rough. Those 3 seem to be your best bet with what you like to run on offense with Gabbert maybe having the edge by just a bit. Just typing that sentence shows you how bad it is lol. None are much better then Johnson and being from San Diego I say give the kid the short tell Pryor comes back. Injuries are killer in this game.

My top 5 guys are highlighted above in the quote. Gabbert has all the tools to be successful in your system but he also has low awareness and deep accuracy.
My personal favorite is Colt McCoy because he is mobile and has good TOR ratings, although the lack of deep throw ability is concerning. Im a New England fan so Hoyer would just be cool to read about in this since he is a former patriot. Matt Moore and David Carr are a decent stopgap game managers until the draft. so, in order:

Cobb is awesome. So glad I took him off the street. He's been big and will definitely make a strong offer to him to re-sign him after the season.

McClain - yep, another nice year in the making. Which I could figure out how to get him some more sacks.

What's funny is Grant's gonna get the 25,000 XP after the season for his whopping goal of 600 yards. With that, he'll probably be the best back on the team. I wonder how Grant would do without Caulder softening up the D. Might have to find out...

LOL yeah, it's horrible. If it wasn't after the deadline, I'd pay blood for some kid like Terry Carter (even though he can't move) or something. Teams are just hording QBs. Jets (who have Carter) have four QBs, for example. The Panthers just have one on the roster. FA pool so bad, they don't want another one!

Agree mostly with braeden, just different order.

Depends on how you play your QB, cant tell just by stats. If you will scramble for time and still pass Carr is a bit better cus of his better RUN. But if once you tuck then your off Gabbart is more your man. Also need to see ACC, some fast QBs start off like a mac truck they have so low ACC.

Moore is your most rounded though. Being about mid option in all categories, but limits how effective play action may be.

Cobb seems like a decent filler, still would jump at a solid #2 though. I would like him more as a slot personally.
