LOL, we better hear from Heffner a lot if he gets into trouble.

Schedule looks favorable for you this year, ksw. Here's hoping it's another solid season for the Wave.

Po1soNNN: I'm 2-1 at the Rent so far. But you're right, it isn't easy playing there.

thesportsguru11: Got some tough non-conference games this season (LSU, Miami, N'western). But if we can get through that "gauntlet", I think we'll be smooth sailing from there. That being said, look out for the trap.

News & Notes: Finished updating the offensive playbook today. Looking a lot more smooth & cohesive this year. Also, this will be the first time I've ever played a Season 7 in ANY NCAA Football dynasty (going all the way back to NCAA 10). And since we haven't even scratched the surface of what this could become yet, expect this to keep going for a LONG time.

I've just read through this and I like it a lot, great to see you won your championship. It'll be tough for my recruits to come through on a championship team.

It's certainly easy this actual NCAA season, with UConn being so terrible.

And good luck with keeping this going man. It was a staple back when I started my dynasty back in December.

harleyhorse8: Thanks man. Hopefully recruiting's more interesting this season now that Tulane has a title under its belt. But since we're now just 3-star prestige, I'm still gonna hold to my recruiting rules. (Yes, Tulane won the national title last year as a 2-star school!)

Po1soNNN: Hate to break it to ya, but they've been bad in this dynasty too. UConn's best record is 6-6 since I joined the conference, and they finished 5-7 last year. Casey Cochran was a good QB for them but the supporting cast wasn't that great (especially the D). 1-star school now.

AdamJones113: Haha, it happens. I've been following dynasties on here for a while now and still take forever to comment on them. A lot of good ones on here, it's easy to get far behind.

What's interesting is that they are good in my BG dynasty. They were tied with UCF heading into the final week of the season, and lost at home, but had they won, they would have gone to the Fiesta Bowl.

They were really good in my Kentucky dynasty I did here in the spring. Season 2 they were ranked for a while and I think lost in the AAC Conf. Champ. Game I added in.

It depends on what happens with their roster. I have a offline dynasty with them in the 2014 season and they have a scrambling QB named Scott McCummings who is pretty good, and their HB Lyle McCombs. In real life, I think McCummings graduated (how he would still be in the game, I'm not sure) and McCombs was kicked off this spring for academic reasons. With those two in the game, they are a really explosive option team, a bit like Navy, but they pass the ball more, because they have a really good WR Geremy Davis.

CAP players have been created. Ready to get the new season started.

A few of the CAPs were interested in Tulane. A few others were interested in joining the Army, interestingly. And Kris Jackson (Flutie_Flakes CAP) looks to be one of the best prospects Canada has ever produced.

                          ACC Proposing New-Look "SuperConference"

Rumors are swirling around Charlotte, North Carolina that the ACC is "very close" to extending invitations of membership to two top universities. It is not known right now what two schools would be extended offers, but it has been known for a while that the conference has been heavily interested in both Notre Dame & Tulane University. According to ACC Commissioner John Swofford (at a Monday morning press conference), the league has "a few" schools on its radar. Based on expert speculation, it is likely that a 16-team ACC Superconference would resemble such:

the current 14 full-time ACC members

                          Notre Dame

one of the following: Tulane, UConn, Cincinnati, South Florida, Central Florida

After word of the ACC's rumored plans for expansion reached the public, officials at Notre Dame, Tulane and Cincinnati commented on the matter.

Jack Swarbrick (Notre Dame AD): "While we are aware of the rumors involving the ACC's expansion plans, those rumors cannot be corroborated at this time. We have not had discussions with the ACC, and the ACC has not relayed any information involving our current relationship with the league."

Scott Cowen (Tulane President): "We have had brief talks with the Atlantic Coast Conference regarding conference affiliation, and while we are flattered by their consideration, we are currently committed to staying in the American Athletic Conference going forward."

Santa Ono (Cincinnati President): "We have had no talks with the ACC at this point. As it stands today, we are an AAC member."

It will be seen going forward if all this talk by these university leaders is merely smokescreen, but one thing is clear: the ACC will likely be becoming the NCAA's first major superconference in the near future. The trickle-down effect from this could be massive.

Tulane Fires Men's B'Ball Coach Ed Conroy

Word has come out of New Orleans that Tulane has relieved Men's Basketball Coach Ed Conroy of his duties, two seasons after the team was rocked by NCAA sanctions following an academic cheating scandal found in the program. The team lost scholarships over a two-year period (which ended this past year), and all wins from the 2015 season were vacated. Vacated wins included a surprise run to the 2016 Elite Eight. The scandal also affected a few players on Tulane's football team, namely former QB Jon Harper and former HB Wendell Goolsby. Harper had recently signed onto Tulane's football team in 2015, and had enrolled early at Tulane in January 2016. Goolsby was a redshirt sophomore who had seen significant playing time on Tulane's 2015 team. The NCAA decided not to punish the Green Wave football team, after it had determined that head coach Kaelyn Willingham immediately followed all protocols in handling the situation. Both Harper & Goolsby were dismissed from the team.

It is unknown who will replace Ed Conroy as Tulane's Men's Basketball coach, but the school is prepared to spend top-dollar for the right fit. The team has struggled in the two years since the sanctions were handed down, as the team was placed on the NCAA Tournament ineligibility list. Finishing with a 12-20 record overall this past season (including 5-13 in American Athletic Conference play), many around the program felt the time was right for a change.

Please let UConn go to the ACC. We already got snubbed by Louisville. On the day they announced that they were joining UConn beat them in 2 OTs to show how upset they were.

A Fullback? In the Third Round?

Fred Roach selected by Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFL Draft

Former Tulane FB Fred Roach was selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft this past weekend, in a move that surprised many. Fullbacks these days aren't hugely sought-after commodities, but Fred Roach brings many skills to the table. Finishing his career with nearly 1600 yards rushing, nearly 500 yards receiving, over 20 touchdowns and over 150 pancake blocks, many NFL scouts believed he was a poised NFL prospect. So much so that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to use a 3rd-round pick on him. Many around the organization believe he has the potential to be the next great Tampa FB, Mike Alstott.

While Tulane coach Kaelyn Willingham is happy for Roach, he was quite surprised that another one of his former players was not drafted.

Coach Willingham: "I'm happy for Fred [Roach] and I wish him a great career. But Charlie [Smith]? I was quite surprised Charlie wasn't drafted."

The "Charlie" Willingham referred to is former Tulane CB Charlie Smith. The 2017 Jim Thorpe Award winner finished his 3-year career at Tulane with nearly 20 interceptions and over 100 tackles, in addition to his skills on special teams. While the Green Wave pass defense hasn't been statistically great during the Willingham Era, Smith was one of the key fixtures in the secondary. Given he had career-highs in tackles, INTs and passes defended his senior season (43, 7, 10 respectively), Willingham hopes he lands on an NFL roster as an undrafted free agent.

Update: Charlie Smith signed a UDFA contract with the Cincinnati Bengals this past week. It appears Coach Willingham got his wish after all.
